Elise was the best doula that we could have asked for during the birth of our first baby! I wanted to give birth without an epidural, and I knew that a doula would help me achieve that goal. Elise helped connect me with a birth educator in the months leading up to the birth. She checked in with me during my pregnancy, and met with my husband and me before the birth to formulate and discuss our birth plan.

Elise did an excellent job educating me on my options throughout the pregnancy and labor without ever making me feel pressured into a decision. She was able to tell me pros and cons based on evidence, which helped my husband and I make the best decisions for the birth.

Elise has the most wonderful calming presence and it was exactly what we needed during labor. She helped my husband know the best ways to support me, and prompted me to change positions during labor to help things progress. I truly believe that she was a big factor in my labor moving relatively quickly! The birth could have easily been a fear and anxiety filled time, but Elise helped make it a calm, natural, and celebratory experience. Whether you are hoping for an unmedicated birth or medicated, hiring Elise such a worthwhile investment— my husband and I both highly recommend her!

We didn't consider hiring a doula until almost the 3rd trimester and I can say: We are so glad we had a doula, and so glad Elise was ours! Even a year later, when we talk about the birth, my husband and I look at each other and say we don't know how we'd have gotten through it without her. She was a lifesaver! She brought a constant level of calm and assurance that we would get through the chaos of labor. In the hospital room, she encouraged us, guided us, and assisted us through and  breathing, counterpressure, and positions.

In our first meeting, Elise said that part of her job was to help the partner provide ample support to the laboring woman. Through modeling what to do and remaining calm and steady, she gave a lot of confidence to my husband which in turn made childbirth an experience that brought us closer together as a couple. We definitely had a good childbirth experience and are so grateful to think back on this huge life event positively. I don't know if we could say that if we didn't have Elise there with us.

Elise helped us first-time parents prepare by helping brainstorm a birth plan, practicing positions, and recommending books and resources. She also took the first pictures of us as a family, just minutes after our baby was born. Those pictures are a treasure to us, and we wouldn't have had them without her thinking to pick up our camera and start shooting.

Elise was the perfect fit for our family and what we were looking for! From our first meeting with Elise, she was completely on board with whatever decisions we wanted in the birth of our son. She gave counsel when we asked, always insisiting that the final decision was up to us.

Leading up to and during labor Elise played a huge role. She was available via text whenever I needed her, and gave advice and encouragement as we labored at home. At the hospital, Elise was constantly at my side to provide comfort and help through contractions. She was also our scout - finding heating pads, birthing balls and any other equipment that might help. She thought about things that we didn't even think about - the lighting in the room, the noise level, etc. Most importantly, she was our advocate. She knew our birth plan and when necessary would remind us of some of our hopes, or mention something to the medocal staff.

I can't recommend Elise enough. She was a pleasure to work with, incredibly professional, and so positive and affirming.

Elise could not have been a better fit for me as my doula. I desired someone who had full compassion and expertise in the field and one who was very calm in difficult situations, Elise was just that.

She is very personable and truely listened whole heartedly to what my desires/wants were with the labor and delivery process and she communicated that to the nursing staff at the hospital effectively. Elise was very calm and coached me through extreme labor by helping me with breathing techniques and she knew how to distract me from the pain I was in, so that helped a lot :)

Overall, Elise was exactly the person I wanted next to me during my labor and delivery experience and I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a doula!
