I wanted a doula because my desire was to give birth with no medication unless absolutely necessary. Cathy showed me the utmost respect, kindness, and tenderness needed for anyone navigating the uneasy waters of new motherhood. Cathy empowered me and prepared me mentally for the challenges of giving birth and what to expect with a hospital birth. She sat down with my husband and me to answer any questions we had and discuss our plans. She made me feel so comfortable, and she really helped my husband feel more connected to the birth process. On the day I went into labor Cathy met my husband and me in the lobby of the hospital and she stayed with us through our entire 11 hours of labor. Cathy brought an essential oil diffuser and the the nurses kept coming in my room saying how nice it was. She also brought a small hand held fan that really helped me when I got hot and weary. Cathy was also a wonderful support for my husband, who became a bit bewildered as I went deep into labor land as I told him to stop talking to me & to stop looking at me. It was great to have Cathy there to re-assure him and encourage him. Cathy helped me during my weakest moments when I felt I couldn't go any further. She kept reminding me that the passing contraction got me one step closer to meeting my daughter. She was like a mother to me during my transition of becoming a mother. Her gentle, nurturing spirit was one I will never forget. She kept cheering me on telling me how good I was pushing, and then in only about 15 to 20 pushes my little girl was happy in my arms. Her hard work empowered me to have the labor and delivery experience of my dreams. I didn't have any medication, no pitocin, no epidural, and I was thrilled. I was walking on my own the day my daughter was born, and I walked around my neighborhood only 3 days after she was born. I know that much of this stability and progress came from the countless hours of preparation Cathy provided.
Cathy is not only an amazing caring human abut also one of the best people to have by your side during the beautiful process of brining your little one into the world. She helped me fine-tune my birth plan. However, every step of the way I ran into issues with doctors that eventually led to a c-section. She never stopped advocating for my health and my birth plan. She helped me ask the doctors the questions I didn't even know to ask. She cared about my birth plan, she did everything she could to help me execute it. And when it didn't go as plan she stood by my side and encouraged me that it was going to be okay. She was not only a guide through this crazy birth thing but also my second wind. When I felt hopeless she reminded me of how much strength I had. I looked forward to her post-partum visits because she reminded through this transition to see the beauty in myself, the beauty in my teeny human, and the beauty in the transition from pregnancy to birth to Everyday mama life. Cathy has the biggest ears ever! Even when my preggo brain was super repetitive she listened. She is so patient and cares about you. You don't feel like another client, you feel truly supported. Thank you Cathy, I don't know how I would have done it without you.
I will never give birth without a doula again. After having a c section with my first and a VBAC full of interventions with my second, I knew I needed to have a doula with my third if I wanted to have an intervention free birth this time around. Cathy was AMAZING. She made me feel confident in my decisions and in my body. She helped me labor at home comfortably with a posterior baby and horrible back labor, I might add. We got to the hospital just in time to have a baby! She was a wonderful support to my husband as well. He was able to rest when he needed without feeling like I was being left alone and Had comfort knowing Cathy was there. My birth was incredible and such a healing experience. I could think of a thousand ways it would have gone different had she not been there. I feel strong and empowered because my birth went the way I wanted it to. Doula's make all the difference. They really do. I'm thankful for her and her passion and confidence in my body.
Cathy is a birthing warrior. I honestly feel that is ever you plan on being in a hospital you need someone like Cathy to have that strong silent birthing presence so that your spouse and you don't have to worry about rights/legality/best interests and tricks to get labor going. Surprisingly my VBAC was amazing and Cathy drover 2.5hrs to attend it! She rubbed my back, helped me in and out of the birthing tub. Took precious pictures of my husband and filled me in on what some things meant and my options... And stopped by postum where I got to eat and shower.... A straight God send. I have no doubt in my mind she contributed to my successful VBAC. Love you Cathy and thank you.
We are writing this review to express the love and care Cathy has given our family. Cathy has cared for our twin girls since they were newborns. Since the first day in our home she put us at ease as new parents by giving our babies love and attention as if they were her own. Her extensive knowledge of postpardem recovery and newborn care helped us as parents navigate through one of the biggest transitions of our lives! She is an amazing caregiver by being intune with your personal needs as a new parent down to the simplest things that make a world of a difference in the begining like showers, laundry, nutrition and just having an open ear to vent. My husband and I dont know what we would have done without her and she has truly become part of our family!
Thank you Cathy!
