The decision to hire Jill was the absolute best! I took a natural birthing class with her and I immediately felt a connection. She was very knowledgable and warm. I spoke with her after and did not realize how affordable it was to hire a doula. I told my husband and he was a little skeptical at first. That week Jill came to our house. My husband was also impressed with her knowledge. We immediately hired Jill. She dropped me off tea and honey sticks. She also came over for dinner with me, my hubby, and my mom to get better acquainted with everyone who would be in the delivery room and to make sure we were all on the same page. Luckily for me my delivery could not have gone any better. As soon as my contractions were regular and I knew this was it I phoned Jill. My labor progressed very naturally and I went to the hospital when contractions were 3 min apart. Jill was right there by my side the whole time. She made sure my birth plan was followed. When I got into the labor room Jill got me water and graham crackers- a little fuel. She rubbed my back with a tennis ball as I hunched over a medicine ball and it felt like she was helping guide the baby down. Such a pain reliever! My contractions were becoming more frequent and painful so she had me get into a warm shower. With the water beating on me I felt amazing and all the sudden I felt the baby pushing itself out. They got me out of the shower and laid me down and minutes later my beautiful baby girl was in my arms. Jill had told them my wishes for delayed cord clamping, immediate skin, and no bath. The baby was immediately placed on me and I nursed her, the cord went completely white, no bath, no vaxs- a completely natural healthy happy baby and mommy. I was able to get right up after because of no meds and my recovery was amazing. Jill has been there for me since. She helped me with breastfeeding and is always there to chat or answer any questions I have. My family and I consider her family! HIRE JILL!
I came to know about duolas very late in my pregnancy at my childbirth class. I ended up hiring Jill on week 37 of my pregnancy and she was very accommodating considering it was last minute . Within a couple minutes of meeting Jill for the first time, my husband and I felt very comfortable with her and she seemed really professional and caring. She answered every question that I had and educated me on things I did not know during our first meeting. Five days later, I went into labor, but in between those 5 days I had more questions and was worrying about different symptoms I was having. Jill was constantly available, knowledgeable, and comforting during all this. The night I went into labor, I called Jill at 1:50am and she answered right away, helping me assess if it was time to go to the hospital or if I should stay at home longer and be comfortable laboring there. By timing how long and how many contractions I was having along with how I could talk through them (or not talk through them ), she advised that I go to the hospital. When Jill arrived to the Hospital, she worked very well with my husband to keep me as comfortable as possible. Jill advocated on my behalf by asking questions for me so I could have informed consent on various things the nurses were offering me. She took pictures that my husband and I would have never been able to take, making our birth experience so memorable!! Jill remembered to keep me hydrated before and after the birth. My husband was so thankful for Jill's help during the birthing experience (they worked great as a team!). Our postnatal visit with Jill was very helpful as well. She came to our house and brought us breakfast and a gift for the baby! She helped me with breastfeeding and also checked the baby's diaper rash. If you're looking for a knowledgeable and caring Doula who is truly passionate about what she does, then I highly recommend Jill!
So where do I start! Before Jill I didn't understand the function or importance of a doula. I went through my entire pregnancy and birth with out her. Immediately after I had my son I had so many regreats in regards to my delivery. I never felt in control the entire processed seemed impersonal and rushed. I was not only a first time mom but I was completely clueless about breastfeeding and here I was trying my hardest. Jill reached out and asked how things were going well this opened up and new world for me as a mother. She provided so much useful information about breastfeeding , she helped me through reflux and discovering my son's lip tie. Jill praised me and supported me when at 3 months I had to switch to exclusively pumping. Jill provided me the knowledge and tools to feel empowered as a mother. Recently I faced another challenge when i had a splenectomy. I needed some parts to pump discreetly while hospitalized and she provided and more making sure I had equipment to sterilize my things while hospitalized. She helped to verify the safety of my breast milk while on medications. Shortly after returning home my supply dropped Jill literally brought lactation boosting supplies to my door step! She baked me lactation muffins (absolutely delicious) and encouraged me to get through it. If I am ever blessed enough to become pregnant again Jill will be there no questions asked. Be informed, be empowered, get a doula !
I first reached out to Jill during my 2nd pregnancy after having a negative first birth experience. I felt very managed and as if had no control over the experience. It was one of the best decisions I made!
Not only is Jill professional and knowlegeable, but she is so personable. My husband and I were immediately at ease and knew she was the doula for our family.
During labor, Jill was a huge support- she kept both me and my husband comfortable and confident in the process. I attribute muxh of the positive experience this time around to Jill.
I can't recommend her enough- she is amazing!!
