I have used Meg with all 3 of my births, she is the most amazing & supportive person, she has & always will be highly recommended. With my 1st birth, it was all very scary $ uncharted territory. Knowing that my hubby may not be the most supportive during birth, I found Meg. I clicked with her immediately! She was kind, knowledgable, funny, calming, & was totally fine with whatever decisions I wanted to make as far as pain management.
My first labor lasted a VERY long time and Meg was with me via phone call & text during the beginning then coming to our home, Where we spent a lot of time walking & finally at the hospital, where we spent an even longer time in labor. She was the calm when both hubby and I got scared & she was my assurance that we were doing the correct thing as we had to make decisions. I don't think I would have ended up having a vaginal delivery if it was not for Meg, my doc knew I was serious & was going to have this baby the way I wanted! My second, was much more uneventful and again with the help of my fav doula, we welcomed our 2nd baby. That easiness went away with our 3rd however...at 33weeks if fell and broke my leg, very badly! It was a horrible experience, let me recommend to all the prego mamas, dont break your leg while pregnant...not fun! Anyways...We called Meg and she came to our rescue! My doc was luckily on board with me not wanting a Csection because I was already dealing with enough! So when the big day came, it was very complicated...I couldnt do the normal things I wanted to get labor going and i needed some extra help! Meg reassured me, I was doing what I needed to do to keep baby and mama safe & healthy. I still had the big boot on my broken leg and I told Meg i did not want hubby to hold it! SO Meg made sure she held my broken one and helped me get that baby out in the safe & healthy! I can not enough kind words for Meg, she was amazing person and even better doula!
Meg is an excellent supporter for any soon-to-be parents who are unsure of what the expereince of childbirth will be like! I hands-down recommend her and can attest to her wonderful attitude and personality. Meg attended all THREE of my childrens' births and all were successful drug-free natural vaginal births. Both my husband and I honestly feel we could not have done it without her there. She helped to guide my husband in ways that promoted a calm environment even when he felt things were getting tough. Meg helped to "normalize" the parts that were new to us and helped me with specific strategies to cope with the labor pains through massages, pressure points and tools (balls, etc.)
Her number one concern is mom and partner and doesn't impose any of her beliefs or ideas on us but insists that she supports whatever choice we want to make. An important part is that she is approachable and respectful with the medical staff at hospitals (I went to 3 different hospitals with three different doctors and they all liked working with her). She was also available for questions prior to labor/delivery via text and that was reassuring!
If you're striving for a birth experience where you feel you've done all you could to promote a drug-free vaginal birth, this is the doula for you!! If there's any questions, concerns, or just want to learn more about our experience, please feel free to contact me.
Meg is a kind and generous oerson--which I feel is a requirement for a doula. Wht you see is really what you get!
The thought of labor terrified me. Everyone told me to rely on the doctors and nurses because they do it everyday but the more birth stories I heard the more uncomfortable I was with the thought of leaving it all up to strangers, especially since this was my first "rodeo". A friend of mine with a positive birth experience suggested I work with a doula and boy am I glad I did! Working with Meg was like working with a very dear friend. Meg's personality is humble, honest and forthright. Her expertise with labor signals, the hospital and nurses allowed for me to have a comfortable and easy birthing experience. Meg coached me through the anxiety of not knowing what comes next and she helped me refocus when I wanted to give up. She did all this without making my husband feel like a "third wheel". Meg never left my side and she advocated for me when I was preoccupied with pain management. Needless to say I am currently pregnant with baby number 2 and Meg was one of the first people we called. Meg rocks.
