I had to rewrite this testimonial a few times in order to shorten it from a novel to a brief paragraph of gratitude for Alyssa. After my husband and I met Alyssa we knew she would become a member of our family. She is kind, gentle, compassionate, knowledgeable and truly amazing at what she does. Although Alyssa was our birth doula, she was with us throughout my pregnancy. She offered advice when we asked for it and would even sit with us and listen to what we were experiencing. During labor she calmed the nerves of my husband and guided me through my contractions. As soon as she arrived at our home, the atmosphere changed and we knew we had someone to help us through. Alyssa was there to welcome my daughter into the world and for hours after to feed us and make sure our home wasn't a complete disaster. Weeks after our beautiful baby was born, Alyssa helped us navigate parenthood and feed our little one. She supported me with the descioins I was making as parent and never once made me feel judged for them. I can't say enough about Alyssa; we love her and are grateful for her.

My husband and I decided to take Alyssa’s Bradley Birthing Class. I was pretty nervous about attempting a natural birth, however her teaching method made me more comfortable. Alyssa was always very responsive with any questions you had either during or outside class. I was also considering hiring a Doula and after spending a few evenings with Alyssa I knew she was the one!

Through everything we learned in class and Alyssa’s support as our Doula I was able to almost achieve an unmedicated birth. As soon as I went into labor I contacted Alyssa in the middle of the night. Not only did she respond promptly, but she was over at our house as soon as we said we needed her support. My contractions were 2 mins apart from the start, which we were not expecting so after a few hours laboring at the house, we decided it may be time to go to the hospital to see how dilated I was. We were all surprised to find out that I was 8cm dilated by the time we arrived at the hospital about 8 hours later. I was screaming for pain medicine by the time we got there, but with the support of Alyssa I was able to say no and decided to try laboring in the tub at the hospital. I continued my labor in the tub for several more hours (12 hours in total unmedicated), but once I found out I wasn’t progressing past 8cm even after the midwife broke my water I had to request the epidural. It’s not what I was hoping for but because my contractions were so close from the beginning I was becoming exhausted. The epidural helped speed things up and about 2 hours later I was pushing. I pushed for 4 hours and then our beautiful son made his entrance into the world. My husband and I agree that we would use Alyssa again if we have another child. She helped us out so much especially in early labor at the house helping me try different positions to try and alleviate the pain.

Alyssa was our instructor during our 12 week Bradley birth class. She is a kind, patient, and knowledge teacher. Alyssa provided a supportive environment and guided us through the Bradley method. She often brought additional resources to class and expounded upon the topics in the workbook. Every week we learned something new and practiced techniques to prepare for birth day.

After completing the class, we were able to achieve an unmedicated, vaginal birth resulting in a healthy baby boy. We had a positive birth experience and I don't think we could have done this without the Bradley classes. Understanding the birth process, learning positional and breathing techniques for natural pain management, and the mental preparation really helped us through the experience. Alyssa helped give us the confidence we needed to have a natural childbirth. She continued to be a source of support even after the classes were over. I definitely recommend Alyssa and the Bradley method to anyone interested in natural childbirth.

Class was very informative and helpful. Could not have done an unmedicated delivery without the class. Alyssa was very knowledgeable and made the class very interesting. i only wish the class had more information on infant care, but I understand that is probably not part of the Bradley curriculum.

I knew from the time I learned that I was pregnant with my third baby that I wanted a doula. I had a student nurse doula when I delivered my second child but they were not very dependable. So with my third pregnancy, I knew I wanted to hire a doula that will be with me throughout the whole process. I was due November 30, 2018 and I was having trouble finding a doula because I was due around Thanksgiving, so one of the doulas I talked to suggested DoulaMatch. I was scrolling through the site and I came across Alyssa's profile. I clicked over to her website and I contacted her. She emailed me back very quickly and we set up a date and time to meet. From our first meeting, Alyssa was always gentle and kind which made me very relaxed and comfortable with her. This was very important to me because she would be witnessing one of my most intimate and vulnerable moments during childbirth. I loved that we were able to meet up at my house for our prenatal visits to talk about what I wanted from her during labor and answer any questions I had at that time. Our meetings were very informal and we talked a lot about our kids and we talked like we were old friends catching up on life. She always emphasized that she is available via email, phone, or text so I always felt comfortable reaching out to her. When I finally went into labor, she checked up on me via text to see how I was doing while I was laboring as long as I could at home. I finally asked her to meet me at the hospital when I was ready to go and she stayed and made sure I was comfortable and that all my needs were met until everything had calmed down after delivery. I truly don't think I could have managed my unmedicated labor pains without Alyssa's help. Alyssa has been such a blessing throughout my pregnancy/birth journey. I'm glad I have found a friend in her and that she was there to share in the birth of our precious baby girl! Thank you Alyssa, you will always have a special place in our hearts!

My fiance and I are so grateful we invested our time to take Alyssa's Bradley Birthing Class and hired her as our Doula for our birth experience. I know for sure, things would have went a lot different if we didn't.

As first time parents, the 10 week Bradley Birthing Class prepared us so much for what to expect and educated us on our rights to make decisions on different circumstances that could arise during the course of pregnancy and labor. A situation did come up for us unfortunatley, where if we didn't have this education, we would have coerced into being induced 2 weeks before our daughters actual birth date because fear was pushed on us. But with us knowing facts and that the decision is ultimatley ours, along with Alyssa's guidence, we were able to make a decision that we felt confident with. I didn't have to go thru unnecesary intervention, our little girl was not born early and she is completely healthy.  The length of the Bradley Class is of so much value, we started our journey not knowing what to expect with pregnancy and birthing to being so confident and going into labor without fear, which is so empowering.

Having Alyssa there during birth as our Doula was an amazing experience as well. She helped my fiance to feel confident in his coaching along with letting him rest when needed, never overstepping any boundaries. She continued to fill me with confidence thru the labor process. Of course my labor didn't go exactly as I had imagined (as I hear they never do) but I know having Alyssa there helped me to stay strong and help us make decisions when it was necessary. If she wasn't there to fill us with positivety and her guidence, we would have derailed way off our birth plan.

Even after birth she has been there to help with anything needed, checked in multiple times and visited with us. Her kindness, patience & guidance without judgement makes her shine, I highly recommend Alyssa for your journey.

I first learned of Alyssa’s services through an online neighborhood group. I reached out and scheduled a meeting with her to discuss hiring her as our doula for the birth of our second son. I immediately felt comfortable with her and knew she would be the perfect addition to my birth support team (my husband and Mom).

Alyssa provided invaluable support during my pregnancy, birth, and pospartum period. She checked in on me frequently throughout my pregnancy and was happy to answer any questions and offer guidance when needed. During our birth, she came to the hospital early on in my labor (I was induced) and of course stayed through delivery. She massaged my swollen legs, rubbed my back, and suggested positions to ease the painful contractions.

She offered her knowledge of birth and supported my choices during labor.

In the postpartum period, Alyssa visited and cooked us a delicious meal (the best gift for new parents)!

I highly recommend Alyssa’s doula services to any expecting parents. She is kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and can provide strength that is so necessary when bringing a new life into the world.

Alyssa was one of the best decisions I made when creating my support team for the birth of my second baby girl. My first was born via a c-section (delivered at 34 weeks) due to health issues. I knew I wanted a vbac this time for both safety and emotional reasons. I really wanted to experience the birth process and felt robbed of that as well as the bonding experience with my baby.

Alyssa was very supportive and knowledgeable. She helped prep me for the labor process and helped reassure me when I would begin to doubt myself. Every step of the way she was there with an open mind and kind words, always reminding me that whatever I decided to do would be the right thing. Due to my health history the doctors wanted to induce two days prior to my due date. I had so many concerns and doubts to what the best decision was and in comes Alyssa with her incredible abiltiy to reassure me. She provided insight about both sides of the decision. On the day of induction Alyssa let me know that whenever I was ready for her to join me at the hospital, she would head my way. Sure enough she was there shortly after I asked her to be. She prepped me on what to expect the progression to be like for a medically induced labor (she pretty much nailed that!), informed me of hospital resources & was a very important part in what helped keep me focused on my labor pains. I had intended to have this baby with no medication (if possible) and once I reached my limit and was stuck on feeling guilty if I “caved” because I wanted a chance to rest; Alyssa was right there to tell me I was still doing great and could keep going, but if I wanted to get an epidural it wouldn't be a bad decision. I got the epidural and we all got a chance to rest. Alyssa literally slept in the waiting room until I needed her again.

I absolutely love Alyssa and will always cherish her and her calming soul while helping me bring my baby girl into this world.

My husband and I attended Alyssa’s Bradley Method Birthing classes...

I just wanted send you a quick email thanking you for so wonderfully leading the birthing classes, for being so informational and helpful. I am so incredibly glad that we decided to take Bradley Method classes, it is 100% because of you and the class that I was able to have an amazing labor and delivery. I didn’t always feel confident, during my labor, in my ability to have a natural birth but it is because of what you taught Nick and I (exactly what my body was going through at each stage of labor, the relaxation techniques, breathing techniques, and support methods for him) that I was, in the end, able to have a labor and delivery that was way beyond anything I could have ever imagined or hoped for. I was able to turn inwards, focus consistently on breathing and relaxing, and be so in tune with myself that I knew just what my body needed at each moment, making Charlotte’s birth an absolutely amazing and beautiful moment.

Thank you so much for all that you invest and put into your classes, it truly makes a difference.

Alyssa was a wonderful support of knowledge from the moment we met her up until our birth of our daughter. She was eager to join us during labor and available for anything we needed. She helped me achieve the natural, intervention free birth I was longing for. I couldn’t be happier with the services she provided and the love she showered us with from the beginning to the end of our journey!

I cannot say enough positive things about Alyssa as a doula and all around wonderful person. She has been such a vital pillar of support throughout my pregnancy, labor and postpartum. Even when my birth didn't go as planned and turned into days of prodromal labor, she came to be by my side three days in a row, despite the long drive. Every time I felt unsure or had a false alarm that "it was time" Alyssa would get there right away to help with my older son, offer me comfort techniques, or suggest ways to help my labor progress. She met me with kindness, enthusiasm and encouragement each time and helped me to find the strength and will to keep going through the tough labor when I felt I couldnt take any more. When I look back on my birth experience, I will always be able to find the positive in the way my entire family and I were supported and respected by my birth team and that's something I couldnt be more grateful for. Alyssa was born to be a birth worker and I would absolutely reccommend her doula services to expectant parents, whatever their needs may be.

Alyssa was my birth doula for my first born. I found Alyssa on facebook and knew almost immediately that I wanted to hire her. Her knowledge and passion for her work was evident but what mattered most to me was her ability to connect with me. I quickly felt comfortable with her and knew that I would be at ease with her presence at one of the most vunerable events in my life. In our prenatal visits, she was able to help both my husband and I prepare physically and emotionally for our delivery.

My pregnancy went past my due date and Alyssa's efforts went above and beyond. She made an extra prenatal visit to us and even made us dinner, giving us tips on how to start labor naturally. I ended up with an induction and even though this was not what I wanted, Alyssa's support helped me feel like this would still be the birth I wanted. Throughout my labor, Alyssa was right there with exactly what I needed. Be it essential oils to calm things down, suggestions for laboring positions, a hand to squeeze for painful contractions, massages to relax me, jokes with my husband to lighten the mood or words of support to help me make the tough decisions, she knew what I needed before I did. Her presence made me feel stronger and helped me to go as far as I did. She also took a lot of pressure off my husband, allowing him to be at ease with his role.

Ultimately, I needed a c-section becuase my labor would not progress after 30 hours of pitocin. Though my labor and delivery turned out to be the exact opposite of what I had hoped, I can reflect on the entire experinece with joy and I'm confident that is due in large part to the amazing support we got from Alyssa. I strongly recommend every woman get a doula for their labor and if you can, hire Alyssa!

Not only am I lucky enough to have Alyssa as my sister, but I was lucky enough to have her as a huge part of my pregnancy and birth experience. My husband and I took birthing classes with Alyssa, and we are so glad that we did! We learned so much about pregnancy and labor and birth and we went into our birth experience fully equipped with everything we needed to know thanks to Alyssa's wealth of knowledge and passion. Alyssa was also present for the birth of our daughter. She was there every step of the way encouraging, helping, supporting and advocating for the natural childbirth that I so deeply wanted (and got!). She knew exactly when to step in to support me, and when to step back and let my husband do his thing. She educated us on all things pregnancy, birth and postpartum and she was emotionally and physically supportive throughout the entire experience. She calmed me during the rushes of contractions and always had a new idea when I wasn't comfortable laboring in a certain position anymore. She was an integral part of my pregnancy and birthing experience. My husband and I couldn't have asked for a better support person during the most special time of our lives.

We found Alyssa Kinney through Baltimore Birth Circle; she was high recommended!  Alyssa offered a private 6 week Bradley Course in the comfort of out own home which worked perfectly for our bust schedules!  She was always so kind and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions as we worked through the course and was able to answer any questions that my husband. We never felt rushed. She would also follow up each week with an email FULL of amazing resources.  By the end of our 6 week class I felt powerful, excited and confident in my Birth Plan.

My husband also benefited grately from this course as he was taught how to be my labor coach, what to expect and how to best help me. He was now just as knowledgable about the birthing process.

We decided to hire Alyssa as our Birth Doula. As soon as I went into labor I was able to call Alyssa and talk through the best plan and when I would be going to the hospital. Because we had taken the Bradley Method course I felt calm and prepared.

During my labor, Alyssa's support was constant. She reminded me of the different skills and tools I had learned during our classes, massaged my back, held my hand and cared for me in the sweetest way. It was a huge comfort to not only me but also my husband. She never oversepped her bounds and was respectful of the special moment between my husband and I.

I am so proud to say that I gave birth to my sweet baby girl without the use of any medications or medical interventions!

One week after our daughters birth, Alyssa came to our home check on us.  She made sure I was taken care of postpardom and was able to answer any questions I had about myself, breastfeeding and baby.

Hiring Alyssa was hands down, the best decision we could have made. Her services are truly priceless and I would highly recommend her to any family/friends!

Comparing the post-partum phase of my 2nd daughter with my 1st, I would say the 2nd time was remarkably better, and the main reason was because of hiring Alyssa as our doula! I was so much less anxious, knowing that a calm and capable person would be with me when I needed her most. She was eager to help with anything I asked, such as food prep. and taking out the trash, and was even on top of things I did not ask- cleaning any dishes that were left in the sink, or folding clean laundry. She helped me to regain my confidence in baby care (such as baths and baby wearing), and also a bit of body confidence as well- by binding my belly in a beautiful wrap technique. Best of all, Alyssa really bonded with our older daughter, which in turn allowed me more time to bond with our newborn. Alyssa was a wonderful gift to our family, who we will always remmember fondly. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking extra post-partum support.

My husband and I participated in Alyssa’s Bradley Birth classes before the birth of our first baby. We found the classes and information to be extremely helpful during labor and delivery. Alyssa was an amazing teacher! She explained everything clearly and kept the classes interesting. She was a great guide as we navigated through the course, allowing us to be active participants in our learning. Throughout the course, she gave us personal anecdotes, organized special guest speakers, and even made items for us to use during labor. I can say with confidence that I would not have been able to have a natural childbirth without the Bradley course and Alyssa’s instruction.

After having the baby, Alyssa continued to be a source of information and encouragement. We needed some extra things from her to submit a claim for reimbursement of the course from our insurance. She responded quickly and gave us what we needed. I highly recommend Alyssa as a Bradley Birth instructor.

Having Alyssa on my team was the best decision I made for my delivery She worked really well with my nurse midwife and the hospital staff. They loved having her in the delivery room. My husband was also happy we had her there to help. Her support kept me strong and focused throughout my delivery. She is smart, kind, experienced and a great source of information on everything baby. She went above and beyond to help ensure I had all the knowledge and preparation I needed. Her home visits during pregnancy gave me the confidence and tools I needed to feel comfortable. She even cooked dinner and brought me gifts!

I felt that I had a strong, compassionate advocate at my side. She was always just a phone call or text message away! Her relaxation techniques got me through almost two hours of tough pushing with no pain medication or medical interventions. She helped make my all natural birth plan possible. She was by my side cheering me on during moments of weakness. It was also amazing to have her visit once I was back home. She talked with me for hours and gave me great advice on taking care of my new baby girl. I admire her wisdom and loved having her help. I would highly recommend her to any expecting mom seeking guidance and support. Ask Alyssa for my email if you want more information on why she is an amazing doula and a great choice for your family.

My husband, mother-in-law and I took Bradley Method classes from Alyssa to plan to have a natural birth, but in the hospital. As a first-time mom, I didn't know what to expect but I knew I wanted to get educated and find out the different methods for childbirth. The classes were amazing in getting us prepared and really getting my husband involved to be my couch. I feel like my husband learned more than I did from the class. He really took it seriously and I would just glow with pride when he would talk to friends and family about our natural birth plan for our son.

For six weeks, Alyssa dedicated her time to come to our house to prepare us for the arrival of our little guy. She made us feel so comfortable during the lessons and helped us get familiar with extremily useful exercises to do during labor.  With her help and re-assurance, my husband and I successfully welcomed our first born on July 31st unmedicated.

I highly recommend Alyssa's Bradley Method classes. She is terrific!

My husband and I hired Alyssa for our Bradley Method classes and couldn't be more thrilled to have met and worked with her! We are having our first baby in a couple of weeks and have greatly benefited from her experience, her assurances, and her excellent style of teaching! From the first class we knew she was a great fit- even our snobby pit bull (who doesn't like anyone right away) fell in love at first sniff!

I highly recommend her as an instructor and hope to get to use her as a doula in the future (we had already signed a contract with another doula prior to meeting Alyssa or we would have definitely used her)! She has really made my husband feel like an integral part of the birth and pregnancy and helped him to understand the great benefits to natural/home birth!  Likewise, she has helped me to feel more comfortable and confident in my ability to have a safe even joyful natural birth!

Many thanks to Alyssa!

I attended a class with my son and daugther-in-law in their home for 6 weeks.   Alyssa was wonderful.  I wish this type of class was around when I was delivering my babies.  No matter the outcome of my daughter-in-law's delivery, this class was well worth it.  Alyssa was so very informative and very knowledgable about the delivery and birth of a newborn.  Alyssa started at the beginning of the many changes in a woman's body and went through the delivery miracle.

I do expect from everything we learned that this baby will be delivered naturally.  There are so many senerios that you are NOT aware of with pregnancy and so many ways to possibly change the outcome of those senerios.  Alyssa explains how to carefully work with the care provider in following the moms wishes for her baby's delivery.  I experienced all C-sections and didn't realize the options I should have put forth to my care provider since my first baby was never in distress.  After the first C-section, they encouraged the additional dlieveries be the same.

I have since told many friends about the need for this class as they are guiding their sons and daughter's with their first baby.  Taking this class was a great use of time.    My other three children want to take Alyssa's class after hearing us talk about what we learned and what we can expect.

I think about if someone has a disease, you want to know every option to the path of healing.  This class lays out all the options and how to work with each obstacle if it arises until the minute the baby enters the world.  She even guides you through holding your baby immediately, to the first feeding, and then some.

SUPER, SUPER WONDERFUL GAL.

Thank you Alyssa for driving to my daughter-in-law's home and making it convenient for us to be in your class.

Highly recommended!!!

My husband and I took a Bradley childbirth class with Alyssa in the spring of 2017 in preparation for the birth of our first child. She was very easy to reach and talk to even before we started the class, and she made the class itself super comfortable; I loved that each class we spent some time working on exercises in the workbook but always ended by practicing a relaxation technique. She was really open about discussing and answering questions about her own experience with pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood. I appreciated that Alyssa never forced anything just because it was in the Bradley workbook; she made it clear that her goal was to help us have whatever birth experience that we wanted and to help us learn techniques to achieve it, even if it strayed some from the traditional "Bradley Method".

I ended up being induced at 39 weeks, which was definitely not in my birth plan, and I was upset and overwhelmed when I told Alyssa that I'd have to miss our last class because of it. She responded with positivity and joy, which was exactly the reminder I needed to pause and feel excitement that our baby was coming, instead of stressed that she wasn't coming the way I had planned. Even after I got home with baby (and was still feeling a little overwhelmed!), Alyssa was still checking in on me to see how things had gone, and she gave me the very timely advice to "extend lots of patience and grace to myself". Her gentleness, knowledge, and willingness to go the extra mile to help us made me so much more comfortable and confident throughout my pregnancy.
