Brandi was my doula for the birth of my first child. She was amazing, there is no other word to describe her. As a single mother, I knew I would need the support of my mother but I knew we would need extra support. Going into the big day there were a lot of false alarms and Brandi was there for every one of them with nothing but on going encouragement.
When the day of my son's birth arrived, it seemed as though anything that could go wrong did. And I am so thankful I had Brandi there to help guide me through every moment with her wealth of knowledge and never ending suppurt. Even when things seemed to be heading straight for a C-section, she was the calm in the storm, that I was in desperate need of.
In the end a C-section was not needed and I credit Bradi for that. She was everything I needed, exactly when I needed it. She assured me that my birth was happening just as it was meant to. She had endless suggestions of what I could try. And when my support system and myself were becoming overwhelmed, she was there to help anchor us again
She not only supported myself, but my family as well. Even after my son's arrival when everyone was at the nursery with him Brandi stayed with me to ensure I was also cared for.
Brandi's support did not end there. Brandi helped me and my son through our breastfeeding journey as well. I could never express how much I appreciate Brandi and how thankful I am for her.
Before meeting Brandi I knew nothing about doulas or natural alternatives in childbirth. She was definitly very knowledgable and helped me to feel more comfortable with the idea throughout my wife's pregnancy. During the labor she was just as helpful especially considering she was called at midnight. My wife and I decided to have a homebirth and Brandi helped us to not only get our house ready for the new arrival but helping my wife through a very long day. I only wish she could be here for child number two.
Bandi is fantastic, to say the least. We hired her at around 8 weeks gestation and she stuck right with us until 2 weeks postpartum. Even then we still keep in contact and I've used her to answer basic questions (that going to a doctor for were completely unnecessary). She answered every single question that I, as a first time mother, inevitably had. She helped me research my options to make informed decisions. She supported us the whole way. She was there when my midwife was late due to another birth and directing yet another birth over the phone with her assistant. Brandi kept her focus on us the entire time and helped us stay completely focused. She supported and guided my husband through labor, helping him be a major part of the birth, which I really appreciated. We learned so much from her and she will be greatly missed. Everything just went so smoothly with her help.
Brandi has been my doula twice now. Once in hospital for my primary VBAC and the next one was at home! Both experiences were great! Brandi was very helpful with the primary VBAC in the hospital. It really helped to have her there providing counter pressure for pain relief and encouraging me every step of the way. She is very good at reminding me that birth is a natural process and our bodies are made to do it. She gave me the strength and courage I needed. Having a doula at a VBAC is very beneficial and I don't know if I could have done it without her!
At my third birth (second Brandi attended as Doula) her heated rice pack was great! And she was helpful in more ways than I can express. I labored in the water a while and I was having some very intense contractions. She kept reminding me to keep my voice low rather than high. This helps more than I could have imagined. When I had to get out of the water, she was right there to help with whatever I needed.
I would hire Brandi as doula again in a heartbeat!
