Kat was my postpartum doula from the time my son was 4 weeks to ~11 weeks. She was so helpful! She came for a few hours twice a week to help with baby care, groceries/food prep, and allowed me to get rest when I needed it. Kat has an ebullient personality and I enjoyed talking with her about babies and life in general. Being an extroverted person, I really desired a pp doula that would encourage my reentry to the world and generally would bring an upbeat energy to my household. Kat was exactly the right person for this.
Kat was great with my son and taught me many tips and tricks for dealing with a newborn. I wanted to get up to speed on cloth diapering and she helped me to learn about which diapers are best with a newborn and which might be appropriate later, as well as a great way to fold those tricky prefold diapers! She was also patient with our babywearing antics since it took a bit of time for my son and I to get comfortable with baby carriers. Keeping up a healthy diet was one of my biggest worries before giving birth. Kat helped me come up with healthy, quick snack ideas and she prepped some meals/snacks for my family, as well. She also used an app to coordinate our "to do" list, which was great since I could add things as I thought of them.
Kat was key in helping my family transition after having a baby. She brought useful, practical knowledge about newborns, a positive attitude, and a willingness to try anything I asked (within reason, of course). She taught me skills without judgment and encouraged my nascent mom intuition when needed. I would absolutely hire her again if I have another child.
Kat was great a great resource for my second birth, when I had an older child's needs to think about in addition to organizing things around the arrival of the new baby. She helped talk me through my biggest logistical and emotional concerns and then we came up with a plan together to address my needs. She's a deeply caring person with a wealth of resources at her fingertips. And she is a great cook - most of our work together centered on meal prep and creating easy snacks that I could freeze and warm once the baby arrived. I highly recommend her postpartum doula services!
