We are so glad that we chose to have a doula with us during the birth of our baby and that we met Mary through this process! During labor, Mary’s knowledge and support allowed my husband and I to relax and focus on meeting our baby. We were a team of 3 and we are so thankful that Mary was with us on that day. Mary is fantastic and we highly recommend her!
When preparing for the birth of our first child, I knew I wanted to go with an unmedicated birth. I found out about Wichita Family Birth Support through a Google search and I am so happy with the service they provided! They were readily available through text, email and phone call any time I had questions about pregnancy and labor. They went above and beyond in providing extra resources to help us prepare for labor.
I ended up with induction by Pitocin due to our little one not showing enough movement at 40 weeks and 3 days. With this change to our plan I chose to still move forward without any pain medication. Our doula, Bethany Fenlason was unavailable due to a family emergency at the time I was in labor. Mary Reed, also a doula with Wichita Family Birth Support, stepped right in and did a phenominal job of encouraging me when I felt most like giving up on my desire to go without an epidural. She was right there by my side to encourage me to relax, breathe, and to think about the sweet reward that was soon to come. Without even having met before labor, I was so comfortable with Mary by my side in those hardest moments.
Bethany and Mary both visited me a couple weeks after the birth to make sure baby and I were doing well. They were very encouraging regarding some struggles I've had with breast feeding. They make an excellent team!
I highly recommend Wichita Family Birth Support!

Mary was wonderful to work with! She was a huge support and encouragement to me during my unmedicated VBAC. She was very helpful at reminding me of ways to keep labor progressing and suggesting different positions that also helped with this. She was very encouraging during the times when I doubted my body's ability to do it. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula!
My husband and I were expecting our first child when we learned she was high risk. She had several health issues that were monitored every week up until the birth. I wanted a natural birth however I knew my baby's health came first over my wishes. That's when we decided to get a doula to help navigate all the decisions and how to have the best informed birth experience given our circumstances. Mary is absolutely amazing! I can't say that enough! Even with all the appointments to monitor our baby, she kept us in positive spirits and provided great support. When we found out we had to have an induction to monitor our baby during labor, Mary helped keep us calm and have a peace of mind knowing we weren't alone. Mary came to the hospital, stayed overnight and all through the birth. When I decided to have an epidural (after trying multiple natural techniques Mary knew of), Mary was the one who helped keep me calm enough to stay still. Her positive words got me through the entire process! I honestly couldn't have done this without her help! Even though we stayed in the hospital for several days for baby's sake, she continued to check in on how we were doing. I would highly recommend her and I would definitely use her again!
