When I think about the birth that Lisa supported me through, the first thing that comes to mind is the memory of her feeding me French Toast on my couch an hour after the birth of my son. It is exemplary of Lisa's care - she is attentive, present, intuitive, and thoughtful. Her presence is soothing and supportive. Lisa's support made me feel empowered because she stepped in when I asked, and could sense when I needed space. She worked seamlessly with my midwives, who she had never worked with before. Lisa was a compassionate and non-judgmental listener in all of our visits and during birth support. She supported me through various medical decisions prenatally, and always provided me with the evidence-based information I needed. Our whole family adores Lisa. I am so grateful for Lisa's care, and any family would be lucky to have her support during birth.

Simply put, hiring Lisa was the best decision I could have made for myself, my husband, and our baby.

As a first time mom I knew I wanted a doula to help guide me through child birth, but what I didn't realize was how much Lisa would bring to not only the birth, but our experience in the months leading up to my son's birth and after the fact. During her pre-partum visits she promped my husband and I to think about things we hadn't before, such as what our support system would look like when the baby arrived and what kind of environment I would find most helpful in the birthing room. When I went into labor, Lisa was waiting for me in the hospital room ready to get down to business. Though the nurses were very kind and helpful, it was invaluable to have Lisa there with me the entire time one-on-one, guiding me through every contraction and helping my husband know what to do, including when to rest and save his strength for when I'd really need him. When my birth didn't go as planned and I had to have a c-section, Lisa worked with me until the very end so that I knew without a doubt I had tried everything I could before agreeing to surgery. She sat right next to me during the surgery, jumping in to help my husband initiate skin-to-skin with our baby when I couldn't, then helping me breastfeed and hold him for the first time.

Pretty much nothing about my birth went as planned, but Lisa was our rock every step of the way and I don't know what we would have done without her. Her two post-partum visits were so helpful in allownig me to process my birth experience, something I don't think I even knew I needed.

Lisa is kind, personable, and a true professional. I have recommended her to all of my friends and basically anyone I know that is even thinking about having a baby. If you are on the fence about hiring a doula, you will not regret it, especially if you hire Lisa!

IF... & if is a big one, you are graced with the luck to have Lisa as your doula, your babies life is that much more off to a good start.

First, let's get the busniess review out of the way: Lisa runs her doula-duties as a true busniess, there was never a doubt that she woundl't show up for us. She was prompt with emails/text/calls replies & follow ups, calendar oriented, incredibly orginized, & as professsional as they come.

On to the fun... side:  As a man and first time father-to-be, I had NO idea what a doula actually did. But my wife said it'd make her feel more comfertable, so I aptly agreed & endlessly greatful I did. All the studying, reading, being an uncle of 8 couldn't get me ready for what was to come. Without Lisa, (I probably would have survivied) but couldn't imagine what it would have been like. NO ONE tells you how much time you'd be alone in a birhting room. All the discomfort, uncertainty, & the time it takes to have a child, as a man, you really have no idea how to help, what your wife is going through, and seeig her in pain is awful with no way of knowing how to help. Lisa was amazing at helping me know what to do, telling me when it was time to sleep, showing me how to walk/rock/dance with my wife during never-ending contractions, massage knowledxge, using jedi-mind tricks, little tools and ideas, yoga-ish moves, words of incredible motivation to a very in-pain wife.

We had family there, freinds around us, we're incredibly fortunate to have such a strong community of support, but NO ONE could have been what lisa was to us during those loooong evenings - Lisa truly made our birhting experience what it was, and we are forever greatful.

Our baby is 3 months today, he is happy, healthy, and one day will meet the extrordinary woman that helped bring him into this world. Thank you LIsa.

We are so happy Lisa was our birth doula. We truly don't think we could have gone through this journey without her. She was so pivotal in helping us prepare for our daughters birth as well as guiding us through the actual birth. I would highly recommend Lisa to anyone looking for a birth doula. She has a calm, non-judgemental approach. Whether you are scared or exctied about your birth Lisa has the experience and knowledge to guide you into parenthood.

Lisa was an instrumental and incredible part of my birthing experience. She is steady, wise and grounding. Her positivity and palpable love of her work is infectious and helped me feel excited about my birthing experience from the beginning.

My husband and I hired Lisa for our first pregnancy which tragically ended in loss, and Lisa walked us through this grief, as well as accompanying us to the hospital on the day of my surgery. When we became pregnant again Lisa held my hand (figuratively and literally) as I navigated the anxieties and complexities that accompany a pregnacy after loss. Her empathy and understanding helped me through some of my darker days, and her abundance of resources helped me know where I needed to turn when any questions came up.

I 100% would recommend working with Lisa and cannot wait to have her by my side at any other births I may have.

Lisa has a wonderful, calming energy and I am so thankful to have had her be a part of our birthing experience. We connected with her early in pregnancy and she was very supportive throughout the whole experience, answering questions via email anytime and providing us with resources to help us make decisions along the way. The two visits she provides prior to birth are extremely helpful for going over details and also helped my husband and I to really think about what type of birth experience we were hoping for and prepare us for what was to come. She has many amazing tools and techniques to assist in the labor process, although we had a very quick labor and did not get to use all of them as we had planned. Lisa arrived prepared and brought her amazing calming energy and truly made the experience so much better for my husband and I. She was an awesome advocate for me and my needs, but also helped make sure my husband was taking care of himself, reminding us to rest when there was opportunity. Although my birth wasn't "exactly" what I had in mind beforehand... it ended up being exactly what we needed for a safe and relaxed delivery of our little "star gazer". She stayed with us until we were settled after delivery and was even so kind as to snap of few sweet moments during and after delivery (which we cherish). A few days after the birth, Lisa stopped by to check on us at home and brought the most lovely bouquet of flowers and sweet hug! She is so thoughtful, caring, and truly values the relationship with the families she works with. We hope to use Lisa again in the future for our doula needs, she is simply amazing at what she does!

Lisa is incredible! My husband and I are forever grateful to her for her support during the birth of our daughter. Lisa is kind, calm, knowledgable, funny, and extremely supportive. I would recommend Lisa's services wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a coach and cheerleader through their pregnancy, birth, and post-partum period.

Lisa was everything we wanted in a doula and more. For the birth of our first baby, my husband and I were looking for someone knowledgable, warm, supportive, and non-judgmental. Lisa checked all those boxes. It was important for us to have a doula that embraced our desire for a natural, intervention-free birth, but also supported us if things didn't go according to plan. Turns out, our son's birth was full of interventions (anti-nausesa meds, pitocin, epidural, vacuum delivery), but we never felt judged or shamed for that. In fact, Lisa helped us feel more empowered and informed about our decisions to use these various interventions. We have no regrets. Lisa held 2 pre-birth and 2 post-birth meetings with us as well, which was really helpful. Not only that, Lisa took photos of the entire birth (as we requested), so now we have amazing, special photos of our son being born! We love Lisa and would highly recommend her to everyone - regardless of birth preferences!

My spouse and I hired Lisa for the birth of our second child, and I'm so very glad that we did. I had a C-section with my first after a long and barely progressive labor. I knew that I wanted to do things differently the second time around, and hiring a doula was at the top of my list. How lucky we were to have Lisa! Her calm and confident support throughout my labor not only helped me cope with pain, but imbued me with my own confidence in my body's ability to birth.Lisa supported me and my husband throughout my entire 19 hour labor and anticipated our every need. As a bonus, she knows the amentities and providers at Swedish First Hill really well, so we had insider help in a facility that can be pretty intimidating.  Our son's birth was a joyful and healing experience for me, and I absolutely recommend Lisa to any expectant mother, but especially to those hoping for VBAC.

Lisa was our doula for the birth of our first child Griffin. We always knew we wanted a doula,  and we interviewed multiple,  but there was something so calm and peaceful about Lisa that drew us to her. She was the perfect partner to complete our birth team!

From the first visits to the last one, Lisa felt like an old friend that we trusted wholeheartedly and looked to for information. We really appreciated that she offers 2 postpartum visits. One within a few days and the next anytime within a year to reflect on the birth and our experience.

When I went into early labor she kept in contact with me throughout the afternoon and came over once we were ready. Having the tens unit was crucial, and not every Doula has one of these. It took the edge off just enough to get some much needed sleep!

She was such a steady rock throughout the birth, never moving or wincing from my hand squeezes during contractions. She suggested very helpful position changes and helped with the initial feedings after he was born. She stayed calm and poised during labor, we always felt safe and at peace with her there to help us through the process.

We would highly recommend Lisa as a doula. She would be a great addition to any birth  team and there to support you 110%

Hiring a doula, you think, will i really need her? Since our birth, it is the one constant i tell every pregnant woman....do not even think about having a baby without a doula. We were immediately drawn to her temperament and personality. She is a calm soothing and approachable person. We got to meet with her privately to go over our thoughts, plan, hopes, preferences for touch, talk, encouragement. LABOR: when i went into labor i kept thinking, i dont know if she should come yet, will it help? Immediately when she arrived she provided instant relief from my back labor - she was such a calm presence, she didnt bring her own energy into the room, but matched mine and was exactly the type of vibe i wanted. What you dont realize is that laboring, you have nurses & OB are switching, they are doing checks but you will continue to labor after they've gone, its so crucial to have a doula - its the one person (aside from your partner) that stays the same. She knows all your preferences and needs and you dont lose the rhythm you've gotten going in labor. We ended up having an emergency ambulance transfer, meconium, shoulder dystocia, and hemorrhaging - and lost the team our team - and now had an OB/nurses we've never met - having Lisa was so important to our state of mind and remaining calm. She was my right hand and i felt so connected to her - even writing it makes me choke up - I am/was beyond grateful that we found her and i always say if we're having a baby, we're having Lisa there. There is so much focus on your OB/Midwife which is of course so important about delivery but your doula is the person that aids you the entire journey of labor. Their roles are both so important but i cant stress enough how important it was to have Lisa there as our constant in a time when everything was swirling, changing and emotional. You never know what type of delivery, labor or experience you will have, do yourself a favor and hire Lisa. Andria + CJ

When my husband and I met Lisa Nobis, we knew we wanted her to be a part of my birth team. Lisa is incredibly funny, kind, compassionate, and has a calming presence that was invaluable in the weeks prior to the birth through the hardest moments of my labor. In our initial meetings, Lisa and I discussed what I envisioned for the birth, my preferred pain management techniques, and my communication style. In the weeks leading up to the birth, we kept in touch, helping me feel supported even before labor began. Once those real contractions came on, she came over within 30 minutes, helping me navigate those initial painful moments. After an hour or so of working through early labor, we made our way to the birth center where the real work began.

Lisa was a crucial member of my birth team, walking me through positions, massaging my back, reminding me to breathe, guiding my husband, and helping me find my center when I needed extra support. Lisa worked with my midwives extremely well, suggesting new positions when my baby was not progressing. Lisa’s professionalism, warmth, and expertise as a doula helped me to feel secure and safe while I focused on finding my strength through a difficult labor.

Lisa was by my side for the entire 13 hours of labor, 3 hours of pushing, and hours of recovery at the birth center. The next day she came over with beautiful white flowers, showing that Lisa’s service as a doula goes above and beyond. She even met with me a couple of months later to help me process the birth, providing me the chance to honor the pain I experienced and acknowledge the strength I found within. I could not have hoped for a better experience with Lisa—I recommend her wholeheartedly.

After interviewing a few doulas, my husband and I extended an invitation to Lisa to join us in the birth of our daughter. It was our first child and we were eager to have an expert to guide us through the experience and Lisa is just that kind of person!

Pre-birth, Lisa visited with us to establish a great client/patient relationship, getting to know our wishes and preferences for the birth. She also provided great education and resources about labor, birth, and breastfeeding so my husband and I felt we had a good game plan going into it. We learned relaxation techniques from Lisa to help me through each contraction as well as stretching excercises that helped me remain comfortable in the last couple weeks of pregnancy.

My labor progressed quicker than I anticipated but between Lisa and my husband (she helped guide him to be an effective birth partner), I was able to get into a nice zone managing each contraction and deliver our baby girl without pain medication, as I had hoped. Throughout labor, I remember hearing my husband's voice and feeling Lisa's presence of calm and tranquility. Together, the two of them got me through the most emotional day of my life. After delivery, Lisa was kind enough to take a few photos of our new family to capture our tears and joy as we met our daughter for the first time. It's a moment I'll never forget and we will treasure those pictures forever.

I am very happy and grateful Lisa was part of our big day and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.

I made the late in pregnancy decision to have a doula present at my birth, and I am so glad that I did!  Having Lisa there was so wonderful; from my very first meeting with her she was so kind, understanding, and made me feel completely comfortable.  She was an amazing support for both my husband and I during my labor, and while I hadn't necessarily planned on going pain med free (I was playing things by ear), I was able to go without an epidural in large part because of her calming presence.  I also know that had I gone the route of the epidural, she would have been completely supportive with that choice as well.  She was so knowledgeable about different things to try during contractions and she and my husband helped me through each and every painful one.

I pushed for 2 hours and during that time Lisa suggested several different positions to try and coax my baby girl down.  I ended up needing a c-section and I was so glad to have Lisa in the OR with my husband and I.  She was able to talk us through what was going on, and kept us feeling calm.  I was a little loopy from labor and pushing and now the pain meds, and Lisa listened to my inane chatter the whole time.  :)  After the c section was done and I was back in my room with my daughter, Lisa stayed for a few hours and made sure the 3 of us were doing well and helped us process and decompress from the amazing and exhausting thing we'd just done.

Lisa was such a great part of my birth experience.  Both my husband and I were so glad she was there and I know that ultimately we both felt more in control and more empowered throughout the labor because she was with us.  I am forever grateful to her for helping to welcome our sweet daughter into the world!

My husband and I hired Lisa to be our birth doula for the birth of our son, and we are so happy that we did! We had every intention of having a natural home birth, but my due date came and went, and after 42 weeks, some alarming medical issues arose. My midwife transferred my care to a midwife with hospital privileges, and I was to be induced immediately. I was distraught, frightened, stressed, and exhausted. This was not the outcome that my husband and I had planned and hoped for. We knew that I would not be able to have the birth experience that I wanted. Lisa met us at the hospital and really helped calm our fears. She was amazing during the 36 hour induction and delivery. She was there through it all, holding my hand, making sure I was drinking fluids, and being my advocate and voice to the hospital nurses and midwife. She knew my birth plan, and she made sure that we stayed as close to it as possible. I am happy to say that because of her voice, I avoided a c-section, and was able to have a natural vaginal birth. Because of her knowledge of relaxation techniques and comfort measures, I was able to avoid an epidural. Lisa is knowledgeable and passionate about birth, and it shows in the level of care and support she provides. I highly recommend Lisa for your next birth! Lisa rocks!

My husband and I are both so glad Lisa was a part of our son's birth experience.  She totally set us both at ease - from her pre-labor visit, to our long day in the delivery room, to the time we spent together post-partem.  She was helpful and nurturing while giving us both the space to make decisions.  I feel like I fully owned my birth experience, which is so, so important.  She's very easy to talk to, she's not judgemental, and she's really quite hilarious.  The three of us made a great team, and I would recommend her to anyone.
