Teryl is an absolute gem to work with. She is so supportive and has a great bedside manner. In the weeks leading up the birth of our 3rd baby her kindness was invaluable. I didn't need as much support with preparing for the birth, we had done a homebirth with our last baby with a wonderful birth team and everything went very well. However this pregnancy I was much more hormonal/emotional (of course I was having a girl after 2 boys so that may be part of it). I was having a lot of anxiety about becoming a mother again. Then on Memorial Day (not quite 39 weeks) I thought i was going into labor. My midwife checked me and I was at 5cm 60% but the contractions weren't progressing at all. The next day everything had stopped and I was so disappointed. I text Teryl a lot that night and just process that it wasn't time. This would not be the only day like this I found out, prodromal labor is real. A week later Teryl brought me Spiritual Midwifery a book by Ina May Gaskin that included a lot of great birth stories. They were hilarious and got me out of my funk and back to the Zen state I had been in, knowing that my baby would come when she was read and we would be ready for her. At 41+2 I had a total breakdown because I still hadn’t had my baby. I cried on the phone to Teryl for 45 minutes while she just let me get it out. As an only child I don't have a lot of people I can just unload on like that. The next morning I went into labor at 2am and it progressed so quickly that only the photographer made it to the birth. So while I was unable to experience the warmth and love of Teryl during labor I know that our conversation the day before had let me release and I was able to allow my body to work with my baby and birth her unassisted with just my husband in our home.

I absolutely recommend Teryl as a doula, anyone would be lucky to have her by their side during pregnancy and birth.

Teryl is an amazing doula! She stayed with me and supported me through my almost 24 hour labor with massages, counterpressure, and encouraging, kind, supportive words. She was so helpful through the whole process, and made it so much easier to accomplish the natural birth that i wanted. I would recommend Teryl to anybody that wants a better birth experience! She is seriously amazing!

My birth was such a whirlwind. From the moment I realized I was in labor to delivery was 4 hours. Sounds nice right? Wrong!!! It was super chaotic and stressful, and to be honest I was scared. I needed a calm, rational mind and that is exactly what Teryl was. Since it was all happening so fast and in the middle of the night, all of the beginning stuff was over the phone. It sounds funny, but she actually had to tell me that I needed to get to the hospital ASAP. She said she would meet me there. Then when I didn't get there fast enough she had to tell me to call 911. I had no idea what was going on, but luckily Teryl knew what to do just by listening to me over the phone. Once we all made it to the hospital and I started to push, Teryl had one leg and my husband had the other. At one point I thought I couldn't do it and I vocalized that, she assured me that I could do it and that I WAS doing it. Teryl was invaluable to both me and my husband.

As first time parents we really didn't know what to do. She calmed me down when I needed it and gave us information when we couldn't rationally process the intense situation we were in. When it was all said and done the baby was born heathy and we were all happy. But Teryl's support didn't end there; she visited and checked up on me often. When I was struggling with postpartum anxiety she talked me through that and helped me realize that I wasn't alone or abnormal. I will never be able to repay her for her help, support and friendship. Making the decision to have Teryl as our doula was the best decision we could have made. She is worth her weight in gold!!!!!!

Teryl, is the calmness woman I know in such a high stress moment. She was fantastic to work with and helped me have a quicker (than last time) birth. She helped me in different positions, pressure points, breathing, and even gave me a foot rub. She kept my husband in the loop and made him an active part in the birth by staying by my side, which is what I needed. She cared for me and I knew and felt I could trust her. She is very professional and a great friend!

I couldnt have done it without Teryl!

I knew I wanted to have a natrual devilery with my son; I just didn't know if I could actually do it.  Hiring Teryl as my doula was the best decision I could have made.  She was there for me before, during and after my delivery.  About 2 weeks before my due date Teryl came to my house and we discussed my brith plan.  She made sure she knew exactly what I wanted so she could support me best.  I talked to Teryl regularly before going into labor, keeping her updated on my progress.  The night I went into labor, Teryl was there for me 100%.  With my water breaking at 1:30 am, Teryl responded to my call and met me at the hospital soon after.  Teryl supported me through contractions by giving verbal support, counter pressures and holding my hand (better said, letting me squeeze the Sh#@* out of her hand).  Between contractions she encouraged me to keep going by reminding me why I wanted to do this, telling me she believed in me and reminding me to let the last contraction go and focus on the now.  Rest my body.  Allow myself the break I was given.  Teryl knew my birth plan, so I was not bothered by questions from the nursing staff.  Teryl had it covered.  All I needed to do was focus on myself and my baby.  The times I thoought I couldn't go any farther, Teryl reminded me I could.

Teryl has a calmness about her that I knew I was going to need during this highly emotional journey.  She also has a way of empowering a woman to be her strongest.  Teryl genuinely cared about me and my baby.  I would recommend Teryl to every mother.  She is AMAZING!!

Thank you Teryl, for making it possible for me to go thorugh with my birth plan of delivering my baby without any medical interventions!
