Amanda went above and beyond what was expected. She goes the extra mile with thought and deed, and I can say it was a great resource to have her there. This delivery turned out to be my hardest of 8, and it would've been a much worse experience without her there. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a professional and experienced doula.
I had a wonderful experience with Amanda. She was extremely patient with the endless questions I had during my pregnancy, and the thought of having her with us during my delivery was such a HUGE peace of mind. She helped advocate for my more natural minded birth plan for the delivery of my twin girls, and she was such a fantastic help when things started getting a little intense in the delivery room. I am so thankful for Amanda and her services and I would recommend her to anyone who may be considering hiring a doula!
I was denied an epidural with my first son due to low blood platelets and I was completely unprepared for a natural birth! Needless to say it was not a good experience and I knew that I had to do something different with my second. I had heard of doulas but thought that they only worked with women who did not want any pain medication and that was not me lol. After meeting with Amanda just one time so much of my fear and anxiety was relieved. She was completely nonjudgmental and willing to work with me on whatever it is that I wanted. We talked about everything including natural and medicated pain relief and options for labor and after birth. I would find random articles on different techniques and of course Amanda already knew all about them and even showed my husband how to do some of them. My platelets continued to drop throughout the pregnancy so I began to get a little anxious. The day before I was induced I had a long talk with Amanda on the phone and she made me feel so much better.
The labor and delivery ended up going better than I could have ever expected thanks to Amanda. I did end up being able to get the epidural and even with that there was so much that Amanda was able to do to help us. I had one issue during my hospital stay and I spoke with Amanda for her advice. She is very knowledgeable and I feel like having her input helped me to speak up and advocate for myself and my baby. I am so glad that we chose to hire Amanda as our doula; I only wish we could have had her at the first birth as well!
Amanda was so wonderful during the birth of our son, I can't imagine the experience without her. My water broke early unexpectedly and I had to be induced so my labor was long and stressful. Amanda not only helped with pain management but also supported us as we made decisions and navigated the induction. She always had ideas for what I could do to manage pain (massages, positions, the tub, etc) and also what my husband could do to best support me, especially when I couldn't really communicate what I needed. What could have been a terrible birth experience was turned into a positive one because of Amanda. At one point during labor, my husband turned to me and said, "I don't know why everyone doesn't use a doula." I couldn't agree more! I recommend Amanda wholeheartedly and I will definitely use her again for baby #2 someday!
Words cannot describe how happy I was with my experience with Amanda! She exceeded any and all of my expectations! Upon meeting her, I instantly knew that I wanted her by my side for my daughter's delivery. She was there whenever I needed her for any questions I had and was always extremely helpful. It was a looooong labor over the course of a few days and Amanda was there for me via text when I needed her. When I finally asked her to come to the hospital, she was EXTREMELY supportive and offered several different positions, props, and techniques to get my labor progressing. She helped me stay on track with important tasks like my breathing but also paid attention to the little things like getting me water and chapstick (amazing!) as I needed it, and provided calming music. P.S...her massages are fantastic! My husband and I felt like we made a new friend over the course of these past several months and truly feel like we couldn't have done it without Amanda! Thank you so very much!
Amanda- I am eternally grateful for your absolute compassion, knowledge and love during my birth and your friendship before and after. Your hip squeezes and help with the wrap during the pushing stage where incredible. Thank you! I would recommend you to anyone giving birth in this area!
My husband loved having you there , he told me your calmness and knowledge helped him keep a level head and he too loved the whole experience.
if we are in the country see you at the next birth! :-)
My pregnancy was a complete surprise and I was absolutely terrified to give birth. I had heard of doulas before- but thought they were geared more to the "hippie/crunchy" mom.
Amanda's support not only changed my views on doulas, she surpassed my expectations.
Amanda supported my husband and I through an intense three day birth. Amanda showed us non-judgemental love and empowered me to speak up for myself and child when I would otherwise be silent. Amanda knew exactly when to crack a joke and when to just listen. She was incredibly prompt and ready to help at any time of day (or night). While pushing baby M out, my headband fell off. Amanda knew (without any conversation) having my headband in was important to me. Without question she immediately put back on. Just a small example of how much support Amanda gives. While I know I could have given birth without a doula- I completely believe she helped this transition into a birthing mother less traumatic.
While another birth is not in the plan for us, if we did plop out another kid I would refuse to push that kiddo without Amanda by my side. (And my husband too I guess)
