As a fellow Doula, I had the pleasure to attend one of Randi's trainings on Grief & Loss. It was profound, illuminating and above all full of love and sentiment to these events in our lives. It has given me shape to a portion of my work that I feared heavily in my heart. I highly recommend this training to all people who support pregnant & postpartum families.
Where to start. As we all know this is a crazy time while the world navigates Covid-19. Add being pregnant and it makes things a lot more stressful and scarier. When my husband and I found out that we would not be allowed to have Randi come to the hospital during my delivery it was just another blow to add on top of everything else that’s going on. However, my husband and I are blown away by how quickly Randi has been able to adapt to this new norm and provide us comfort, a sense of safety and knowledge leading up to my delivery. She has offered to provide us with a run down on birthing and what to expect as we had to cancel our Baby and Birthing class. She has also offered to be available virtually during my delivery. She’s always available when I have a question and has made me feel like her top priority throughout this entire situation. Even though we aren’t able to see Randi in person at this time, we have never once felt like she isn’t there to support us through this journey. I cannot express how much her support and care have provided me with calm leading up to my delivery.
Randi, my husband and I would like to thank you for all your support and your transparency. We are so glad that you are there for us and honestly don’t know what we would do without you.
Randi was phenomenal and our only regret was not knowing her and hiring her for our first birth.
She has the ability to exude calm, firmness, and humour amidst the chaos of labour and birthing, all while maintaining connection and centering the birthing person.
As a human, Randi is fiercely dedicated to equity and advocacy, and as a doula she excels in listening and supporting.
In follow-up care, she was very knowledgeable and helpful in working through breastfeeding latch issues and getting tongue ties diagnosed and addressed.
I recommend Randi heartily - she is exactly the kind of amazing human you want by your side.
Having Randi as our birthing doula was such a perfect fit. We previously lost a pregnancy and we struggled through the grieving process, when we met her, she immediately made us feel comfortable and helped us start the healing process. She would check in on us, and ask great questions that helped us through our new pregnancy journey. During the birth, she was mine and my husbands rock. Reassuring us and helping us when our birth started to go in a different route. She helped inform us of all the new information we were getting while in labor and supported our decisions. She was a god send. I'm so grateful we had the opportunity to meet with her and have her with us for the birth of our healthy baby girl.
Randi is simply amazing. I will never give birth without a doula again (even if she's on her way and the baby is coming fast and decides to make it just before she does). Her support and kindness not only for me, but my husband was second to none. She gave me the tools to believe in myself, feel confident, and have a successful VBAC. Randi is kind, genuine and so so knowledgeable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Having Randi at the birth of our son was the best choice we could have made.
Even when the birth wasn't going as wanted, Randi made me feel empowered and made sure that even though I ended up needing interventions like an epidural that I still felt in control and didn't feel like I had "failed" my birth plan. She even did the awkward exercises with me through the earlier stages of labour.
Throughout she was a second set of hands to help hold ice packs, massage and apply counter pressure, which gave my husband the freedom to focus on helping me breathe and be there for me in the moment. Randi also made sure my husband looked after himself. She was a calm, driving force, reminding me through the worst parts that I can do hard things.
Randi made the birth of our rainbow baby an incredible experience, and I will be forever thankful that she was part of our journey and transition to parenthood.
I hired Randi early on in my pregnancy. My first birth experience wasn't the best supportwise and I was wildly uneducated. I chose to do a homebirth this time and was skeptical but Randi really was supportive and continuously told me I could do this. I had my homebirth in a whirlwind of 3 hours and it was nothing short of amazing. It was a stress free birth due to Randi and believe it or not laughing most of the way through. Randi also continues to help and answer any questions I may have. I'm so grateful to have her in my life.
We had our daughter earlier this year and learned about postpartum doula services when she was a few weeks old. We knew this was something of interest for us as my husband and I don’t have a lot of family support in town. We did a lot of research and reached our to Randi for a consultation. Instently we felt this level of comfort as if we had known them for ages! Our daughter bonded with her right away and allowed my husband and I to get some quality time together. She’s even helped us with babysitting services outside of Calgary! Our only regret is not having used them sooner! We will recommend their services to our family and friends :). Thanks Randi!
Randi and I worked together for the last few weeks of my third pregnancy. I had never had a doula before and didn't think I needed one but I was struggling to feel emotionally prepared for birth again after a difficult and disappointing experience birthing my second daughter. After meeting with Randi, I decided to include her in my journey to bring my last baby into the world. Randi helped me to explore my feelings and fears surrounding my previous experience and encouraged and supported me in writing a healing birth story. I was able to work through the trauma of the birth and prepare mentally for a new and different story. This enabled me to go into my third daughter's birth with confidence and excitement, feeling strong and empowered. My third baby's birth was natural, it was gentle, I listened to and trusted my body and I was able to have the birth I desired. I was able to labour in water and was also able to birth out of hospital which was calming and empowering for me and had been my wish for my first two babies. Randi helped me to trust my body and feel strong and beautiful. Besides her knowledge of different positions and strategies to help baby move down the birth canal when labour was slowing, her presence was calming, encouraging and supportive for both my husband and myself. We both feel that it was the best birth we have experienced out of our three. The connection with my husband was not affected (this had been a concern for me); she supported our relationship and our need for each other in those crucial moments. However, there is definitely something special about the connection between women in the experience of birth. I would recommend Randi to anyone looking for a beautiful and special soul to support them on the birth journey they desire.
Randi is very knowledgeable and passionate. She not only cares for your baby, but she also cares about you - as the mother. She went above and beyond to help me postpartum when I was struggling as a new mom. I wish I had met Randi earlier, as I would have loved to have her as my doula throughout pregnancy and labour. Randi is easy to get along with and I felt comfortable with her within a few minutes of meeting her. If I have any babies in the future, I will utilize Randi for the full experience! She has a big heart and is definitely in a very fitting profession! I consider myself very lucky to have her support. Thank you again, Randi!
