Hiring Jeanelle was the best purchase we made as we prepared for baby. Leading up to labour I had so many questions and she was always available to answer my questions, give me research on the topic and to ground me! I know that if I didn’t have Jeanelle on my birth team my whole experience would have went the opposite way I was hoping for. She kept me calm and grounded (giving me mantras, calming oils, massage, and helping me breathe and move my body)  and always kept me informed of what my options were when any internventions were going to be introduced.  The postpartum care we received from Jeanelle was also amazing. My partner and I are so happy and grateful she was there to support us both before, during and after the birth of our son. It was a magical experience!

As a first time parents my husband and I weren't really sure what to expect during the 9 month journey of pregnancy and the experience of labour and birth. All we knew is that we wanted to be well informed (aside from unsolicited advice from friends and family members) and have an unbiased support system in place for the journey. Before hiring Janelle I chatted with a few other Doulas but none of them really seemed to meet our needs. After chatting with Janelle and meeting her in person we knew that she was the one to accompany us on this journey.

I'll be the first to admit that I am a little anal when it comes to response times with calls/texts/emails. Janelle always provided a response that could be backed by literature in a timely manner. This was very much appreciated as I was trying my hardest to stay away from "Dr. Google".

Throughout the journey we met up with Janelle a total of 7 times: (1) Initial meeting before being hired at Starbucks, (2) Second trimester meeting in our home, (3) Prenatal class on the south side, (4) Third trimester meeting in our home (developed birth preference document during this visit), (5) Attended the birth of my daughter (came in the OR with me as my support person), (6) Came to visit in the hospital the next day, (7) Final visit in our home the week after my daughter was born to see how we were making out and snap a few family photos.

Athough I have so many more good things to say this review only lets me type so many characters so ill have to cut it short. Bottomline, we're so happy that we hired Janelle as our trusted support person and our single source of truth. I would not hesitate to hire her again for a future pregnancy.

My situation may be slightly unique as I hired a doula for my third baby and my first TOLAC. Jeanelle and I clicked right away. While reading her birth story I saw so many similarities to my own experience that I knew she would understand the difficulties I had in my two previous births and help me work through the physical and emotional challenges I would face. My previous babe's were in tricky positions so I needed a doula who was trained in and had experience with spinning babies. Jeanelle suggested movements I should do everyday and some I should avoid like the casual way I would slump on the couch ??. When I was diagnosed with GDM I was scared and overwhelmed and because of her own experiences with GDM and great articles that she sent me my fears were mitigated.

During my birth Jeanelle was calm and reassuring. She reminded me to relax my jaw and shoulders, to breath, and that I was strong. My labours are long, I have come to realize that's just how it goes for me. I needed everyone attending my birth to be present even if they were tired from the long hours. Jeanelle was upbeat, played great music, and made healthy snacks to help the time go by.  Even though I was attempting a VBAC and had all kinds of monitors and tests done I was calm and at ease and a huge part of that was because of the team of ppl I had around me. My husband is an amazing birth partner and he felt supported by Jeanelle. Her presence allowed him to take breaks, and he knew I would still feel supported and cared for if he needed to rest.

Jeanelle is so knowledgeable, kind, fun, and supportive. She believes in the woman's strength and ability to birth babies. She doesn't shy away from difficult and long labours and was with us 100%. I am very grateful for her support and encouragement that helped me attain the positive and healing birth experience I needed. Thank you Jeanelle ??

I cannot say enough good things about Jeanelle and the impact she had on our labour and delivery. Our labour turned out to be basically the opposite of what we had planned and prepared for (as it often is!) and Jeanelle lead us through the entire experience with confidence and professionalism. I felt supported and like I really understood all of my options through every decision we made which is so important when things go sideways. Jeanelle was SO knowledgable in not only the meat and potatoes of labour, delivery and pain management, she also lead us through a series of Spinning Babies techniques, used essentials oils and set up the most beautiful bath with battery operated tea lights. Both my husband and my mom sang her praises and didn’t realize what a support she would be for them, as well.
Jeanelle still continues to be a huge support postpartum. She has helped answer a ton of new parent questions and helped us with breastfeeding. She is always eager to help us out and if she cant she always knows someone who can. If you're looking for a doula that is super prepared, knows her stuff and is totally real Jeanelle is your girl!

After several years of trying to conceive, which included losses and fertility treatments, we finally passed the first trimester of a viable pregnancy. I was very anxious and nervous about the pregnancy and wanted to have a doula who could help answer questions along the way and help us throughout the pregnancy and delivery. I was drawn to Jeanelle after reading her profile and learning about her own experiences with rainbow babies. After meeting in person, my husband and I knew that she was a great fit for us!

Jeanelle is very knowledgeable about all things pregnancy. She answered all of my paranoid questions or pointed me to the right resources. By the middle of the 2nd trimester I had some pretty irritating back pain and she connected me with an amazing chiropractor who enabled me to sit at my desk and sleep through the night. She also sent links to countless online resources that we used throughout my pregnancy and labour. Jeanelle also met with us prior to delivery to discuss our birth preferences. This exercise allowed us to understand our potential choices and to discuss our concerns and fears.

I ended up being induced at 41 weeks and went into labor shortly after my induction. My labour progressed so quickly Jeanelle was not able to meet us at home; instead she met us at the hospital. She was incredible from the moment she arrived. She employed numerous techniques to help me cope with my contractions and was very supportive when it came time to push. She also worked amazingly well with the team at the hospital to ensure that I had a positive experience.

Having Jeanelle as a resource throughout my pregnancy and present during labour and delivery was extremely valuable. As first time parents, my husband and I needed the support to make informed decisions. Overall, we had a very great delivery experience and we are extremely grateful to Jeanelle! If we have a second child, we will definitely use Jeanelle as our doula.

I don’t know what we would’ve done without Jeanelle! When my labour ended up lasting 62 hours my husband and myself were so grateful to have someone as knowledgeable and  helpful as Jeanelle. She has all kinds of tips and tools to get through labour and was a huge support person for us during our birth. She taught us all of the essentials in our prenatal class. If you have any hesitation about hiring a doula - throw them out the window. This is an important time and we wouldn’t hesitate hiring her again for our next birth. Thank you !!!

Having Jeanelle as our doula was one of the best choices we ever made! Her personality matched my preference (good listener) and her knowledge regarding pregnancy and birth made us feel comfortable throughout the whole pregnancy!

Also her and her partner doula at the prenatal class were great at giving us lots of information.

on the day when I was going though the inactive labour stage, Jeanelle was available to discuss my situation over texts and guided me on how to deal with the situation and work through it.

We called her around 5-6 am next morning as it seemed the active labour has started over night, and she was there right away.

With various pain relief methods she suggested and performed, I was able to go through thr pain and wait until the time we really need to go to the hospital to deliver the baby

Even at the hospital she was a great help mentally and physically for me and my husband. Too bad that my labour was too long and ended up going into emergency that Jeanelle could not be there with us.

We definitely recommend her for first time parents and/or who wants to have a great support through out the pregnancy and birth!

I miss you Jeanelle!!

We were looking for a doula because we knew we needed extra support for this pregnancy since we also have another young child to take care of at home plus we are estranged from our family. Our birth story was totally unexpected as our baby came at 34 weeks and ended up in the NICU. Jeanelle was there to hold my hand from labour and delivery to NICU life and transition to home life. Jeanelle was the certainty in our time of uncertainty. She was the perfect support that our family needed. It was like having a really good friend by your side that was very knowledgeable about all things baby. I felt very comfortable around her because she was passionate, warm, caring and funny. I never once felt judged by her but instead felt empowered in making my own decisions. Something I didn’t feel at my first birth. She made it easy to communicate and schedule appointments via text messaging or email. Jeanelle’s own journey and experience as a mom is what made me feel connected to her from the beginning. Thank you for being a part of our birth story, Jeanelle!

We decided early on that we wanted a home birth, midwives and a doula. We did not hesitate a moment to choose Jeanelle. From the initial contact, Jeanelle was very professional, empathetic and compassionate. She was always available by email, text or call to answer any questions or worries I had. We felt she went above and beyond even prior to our birth. Jeanelle also offers a prenatal class; two in home sessions and a group. Originally I was worried about being in a group setting however, Jeanelle kept the group small and made the environment comfortable. It was an incredibly informative class and I highly recommend taking it.

During my labour, Jeanelle came as soon as I requested. Once she arrived she jumped to the task and had me complete some different positions and poses to get baby to move into the right position and ease discomfort. She was a calm, informative support who held space for me through my contractions. My birth did not go as planned but Jeanelle stayed with me and ensured my transfer to the hospital went well. She encouraged us to speak up to hospital staff so they were aware of our plan. Jeanelle even came by the next day to check in as well, another home visit to ensure breastfeeding was going well.

If you are looking for someone who is incredibly passionate about what they do, very educated and informative, empathetic, compassionate and calm then I would highly recommend you hire Jeanelle as your doula.

We wanted to take a moment to share what a huge impact Jeanelle had on our birth experience. Before we got pregnant we did not even know what a doula was... embarassing but true! A friend of ours recommended we do our research and really consider hiring a doula. Now, I could not have imagined preparing for our son's birth without Jeanelle! She helped us to make truly informed decisions and it gave us such peace of mind knowing that we could go to her with any questions. As first time parents, we felt confident during our 30 hour labour and there is no way that I could have done the majority of that in the comfort of our home without Jeanelle's support. Labour and deliever for us was a beautiful and empowering experience because we were informed and supported. We would highly recommend Jeanelle to anyone and everyone (even if they don't know what a doula is yet ;).

From the bottom of our hearts - Jeanelle, thank you for your kindness, love, and patience. <3

I wouldn't change anything about my birth experience. A large part of that is because I had Jeanelle there. She supported me by suggesting pain relief techniques and positions to help with progress. On top of this, I'm so thankful for the information sessions she provided for my husband and I prior to labour. This was our first child and we had no idea what to expect.
