Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have had Nicole by my side through my birth to my son.  As a first time mom, my husband and I decided that it would help us immensely to get a doula.  I had decided to go forward with Nicole becuase I felt that she understood how I communicated, what I needed, and our energy levels were similar.  Nicole was always flexible and understanding.  She checked in often and offered great tips throughout my pregnancy.   Her warm demeanor always welcomed any questions I had.  We discussed my birth preferences and Nicole had some great suggestions and insight for things to consider and evaluate that I might have overlooked.  I felt prepared and supported to deliver my son.  As I was settling into my prepartum leave, 3 weeks before my due date my water broke and had to go to the hospital.  While at the hospital, Nicole's expertise really helped me through the birth of my son.  She did a thorough job explaining how certain positions would help, worked with the nurses to help prepare my body for the birth, and support myself and my husband through countless contractions.  Nicole always informed me and my husband of any side effects or brought up things to consider when we were presented with an option to choose that was different from the birth preference.  Regardless of what decision we made, Nicole remained supportive and respected our choices.

We honestly could not have done this without Nicole.  She was a great support, resource, and expert for us in the birthing process.  After the birth of our son, Nicole checked in various times to see how we were doing and continues to offer her support even today.  With Nicole's energy, communication style, and thoughtfulness, she definately helped prepare myself for my new adventure as a mother.

I feel so fortunate to have found Nicole through Doula Match. From our earliest meetings, she helped set the tone for the labor and birth I hoped to achieve. In addition to having endless expertise and patience in answering our many questions during the final weeks of pregnancy, she exuded calm, positivity, fortitude, "down-to-earth-ness", and good humor--all qualities that I deeply appreciated when she was by my side during labor. By encouraging me when I needed it, coaching my husband when he was uncertain about how to support me, helping me make decisions when the hospital team offered different options, and applying her magic massage hands to greatly lessen the pain of contractions, she helped me tap into a well of inner strength and have the natural, intervention-free, peaceful birth I had envisioned. My husband is grateful to her, too, because her presence relieved his anxiety and made it possible for him to focus on connecting with me emotionally during the more intense moments. I can't imagine things going as smoothly as they did without Nicole. She has a true gift!

"As a first time parents, we didn't know what to expect during pregnancy, labor, delivery. Thankfully, we were so blessed to have our doula, Nicole, there to support us for my entire journey into motherhood. Her understanding of the process of pregnancy and labor made me feel at ease and calm that everything would be ok. She was always available to me for myquestions asking "is this normal" and she stayed by our side for the entire time. Nicole helped me to make a birth plan, and she brought it to labor and delivery and helped to communicate my wants and needs to the medical staff so that I could be as comfortable with my labor as possible. I am proud to say that with her support we had a great and normal delivery. Nicole gladly suited up to be with me to hold my hand, and to give encouragement and comfort. She helped to give my husband the same encouragement and confidence to get us through. I wouldn't have changed having Nicole as my doula for they world!"

We had Nicole help us soon after Liam was born until he was about 4 months and she was a blessing.  She has great energy and a positive attitude and you can tell she loves working with infants.   We had her come 2-3 times a week for 3-4 hours to watch Liam while we ran errands or cought up on sleep :).  She always stayed active with him even though he was so little.  She sang to him, read to him, took him for walks, bounced him, danced with him etc.  Nicole was great with him even when he would get fussy, she would figure out what made him happy and keep doing it as long as she had to.  When he was asleep she would take iniative to help us around the house, becuase as you can imagine having a new born at home resulted in a getting behind on cleaning really fast, which was a huge help.  Nicole also helped us with questions we had as first time parents and if she didnt know the answer she didnt make it up, she went and asked her network of Nannies/Doula's and got back to us.

Overall Nicole was such a blessing to have as new parents.  Her attitude and dimeanor is infectous.  She has the right personality and energy to be with infants.  I would highly recommend her as a port partum doula.

The nursing staff at Stanford Hospital, including the nurse that did almost while delivery wanted to know where I had found Nicole because they were so impressed by her. And they see *a lot* of doulas. Nicole was a perfect teammate for a potentially difficult labor, and everything worked out wonderfully.

Ten days before my due date an ultrasound revealed that I was carrying a large baby, estimated to be over 9lbs by my due date, and 12 cm of extra amniotic fluid and the recommendation for those signs is to induce on the due date unless baby makes an appearance earlier.

My OB was also clear that they would have nearly zero tolerance for a stalled labor because of the higher chance of harm to the baby, so I also had a higher chance of Cesarean delivery.

Two of my best friends had been induced and had nightmarish 20+ hour labors, and so I was justifiably terrified.  I even considered canceling Nicole due to the high chance Cesarean delivery, and I am SO GLAD THAT I HAD NICOLE THERE. Nicole was an absolute lifesaver every step of the way.

I had an uncomplicated 13 hour labor with only 45 minutes of pushing at the end (generally 1-4 hours for first time moms).

From pre-epidural massage, to post epidural massage and coaching, to the best teammate for pushing you can imagine, Nicole helped speed up my labor at every stage.  She made sure the nurses  and doctors were on top of every transition, she had special tricks, and was absolutely supportive of my decisions.

My husband and I can both be very "value oriented" (ie cheap) but having Nicole there was possibly the best money every spent.

I'm happy to give her a reference over the phone as well, I cannot say enough good things about her, her knowledge, and her approach.
