Amy was my birth angel! I don't know what my husband or I would have done without her support! Being first time parents we had no idea what to expect throughout pregnancy, labor or birth and from day 1 with Amy as our doula she was a constant voice of reason, encouragement and helpful information. I felt so confident going into my birth because of her, not only because of her experience as a doula but also because she is a mother herself. I planned for a natural, unmedicated birth and I knew I could trust her contant encouraging words of "you CAN do this!" My birth was magical and so much of that is because Amy was there to anticipate every need I had, before I even knew I needed it! She's knowledgable in pain relief techniques and we used several at her suggestion. She had her essential oils ready, her hand was always available to squeeze, she suggested several laboring positions to help the process along and her calm demeanor eased my nervous tension. Once my son was born she was my cheerleader for breastfeeding success, the shoulder I needed to lean on for those hard first days of postpartum and she's still checking up on me, 6 months later! If you're looking for a doula, look no further! Amy is your girl!

When my wife, Jamie, began explaining what a doula does, I was hesitant and not interested, really. As a soon to be first time dad I really didn't have any clue what to expect, which should have been clue number one as to why a doula would be a GOOD thing. But I'm stubborn and a hardhead when it comes to these things. Either way I didn't have much say in it as I wouldn't be the one giving birth. Jamie said we are getting a doula, and so...we got a doula.

After our first meeting with Amy it was more clear to me why we would need a doula. Amy explained a lot of the details that sometimes get left out. On our way home from that meeting I felt much better about a doula. Amy was a good fit from day 1.

We set up a couple meetings prior to the day of birth just to discuss a birth plan, expectations and whatever questions or concerns we might have had.

The night Jamie went into labor, I called Amy and told her what was going on and she was over within the hour. She came prepared. I did not. Whatever I was lacking, she was there to pick up the pieces, helping me with whatever made Jamie feel better and more at ease. We left for the birth center at 3AM, and it was there that the real work began. Long story short, Amy, who has done this numerous times before was able to be the calm and wise mind in a time of anxiousness. I felt helpless and multiple times realized I was just pacing around trying to figure out what to do to help. Meanwhile, Amy was there with the washcloth, cold or hot, whichever made Jamie feel better at the moment.

Whether you decide to have the baby in a hospital, birth center, or at home, having someone that is a professional in this matter, and solely there for you and to back you up, has a calming presence. Amy was there to answer any questions we had in the moment, that otherwise would have been decisions made amidst a chaotic time.

Thank you Amy! You were great to have alongside us!

I had a wonderful experince with Amy as my doula. She gave me comfort during my first pregnancy answering questions and concerns I had. After I was scheduled for an induction, she provided information on what to expect and always checked in on me. When I went into labor the night before my induction Amy was there for me and gave me tips on how to handle my labor pain. At the hospital she kept me relaxed as possible and documented the whole labor process for me. She shared the most special day with me, my husband and my baby. I am so grateful I had her to support me!

Amy is a compassionate, knowledgeable doula who exemplifies patience and understanding in any labor/delivery experience. She respects her position as advocate for her client's wishes, all the while knowing her place professionally among the healthcare team. In stressful, emergent situations, Amy maintains a calm demeanor and asks to assist in any capacity she can. Amy was among the select few "special members" present during the birth of our daughter, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. I would (and have!) strongly recommend Amy as a Doula to anybody wishing to incorporate one into their labor and delivery experience.
