I gave birth on August 10th, 2018, and Niku's help during my labor was incredible. She was on call for the weeks leading up to my due date, and she was so helpful. My husband and I were both terrified, given this is our first child, and we had no idea what labor was going to be like. Niku was informative, calming, and incredibly helpful. I could not have done it without her!

I am so happy and greatful to have Niku by my side during my daughter's birth! She gave me tramendous support and made me belive that I can deliver without any interventions- and I did. She is very pleasant, knowlegable, and caring. She has very positive and warm energy that made me feel calm and confident. I highly HIGHLY reccomend having Niku to support you durung childbirth even if its not your first delivery.

Niku (and her partner Shawna) were such an amazing part of our birth experience! After meeting with Niku for the first time my husband and I stopped in the parking lot and both immediately agreed that she was a perfect fit for us.  Niku and Shawna provided a ton of materials and exercises to help us get ready for birth and post-partum and when I was induced (unexpectedly) they set the calm tone for the slow process of having our baby!  Our goal for my son’s birth was to keep it as calm and relaxed as possible and for two days Niku and Shawna were in constant communication or at the hospital keeping us entertained by walking, watching TV, telling us stories and laughing.  The process of being induced could have been a frustrating, anxiety ridden experience but we actually had fun (?!) waiting for our baby. After 36 hours in the hospital my doctor suggesting breaking my water at midnight and Niku was wise enough to suggest that a few hours of sleep might make a huge difference because I was still trying to avoid using pain medication for the birth.  She was right!  When the doctor broke my water early the next morning things progressed quickly and without the extra sleep, and Shawna and my husband providing physical and emotional support, I don’t think I would have been able to achieve the birth I was hoping for.  It was incredibly challenging but I felt so in control and like I had the ability to see it through because of our preparation with Niku and her and Shawna’s presence.  When I actually gave birth, Niku and Shawna were both there and it was so great to see our journey through with them.  My husband and I look back on the birth of our son as one of the most special experiences of our lives and I honestly don’t think that would have been possible without Niku. She’s amazing and holds a special place in our hearts!!

I gave birth to my first daughter evening of November 13, 2019 and the first thing I said to Niku aside from thank you is that I couldn’t have done it without her. It was the longest 17hours of my life but Niku never left my side. She was there right beside me the entire time giving me positive and encouraging words that reminded me of how amazing giving birth really is. So whenever I remember the time I was giving birth, all the works, the pain, the tears and most importantly the joy Niku will always play a special role in that experience. I still think to this day that I couldn’t have done it without her.

To say that Niku was "just a doula" is an understatement. I was very hesistant at first to have someone whom I did not know share this experience with. From the moment I met Niku, it was instant connection. My husband and I were very comfortable with her. Her involvement extended beyond being a doula. She was a great coach, teacher and friend. She stayed in touch, even to this day, asking about our son.

Even when acting as a doula, she was very knowledgeable and brought many methods and/or techniques to the table. She gave me amazing resources and books that put me at ease. For example, the first set of birthing classes she recommended were not feasible in my case, so she researched and found the perfect birthing class.

I had a medical condition that made me nervous about birthing outside the hospital setting. However, she constantly ensured me that she will be there to make the birthing expereince as comfortable and easy as possible. Boy, was she right. I was educated about the process. I considered every possible outcome. I knew what issues were serious and ones that are controllable. All my confidence stemmed from her.

During the labor, she was there guiding  and mentoring me. She reminded me of my end goal. I loved having her by my side. I recommend her to everyone I know because of how encouraging and practical she is. When I delivered my son, she stayed by my side and got me an italian sub (knowing I was craving deli meat). If that isn't a great doula, I do not know what is.  Seriously, anyone who is opting for a doula should consider Niku, they will not be disappointed.

While Erin and I were preparing for the birth of our second child we discussed who we wanted "in the room" with us. We wanted to keep it small and the grandparents were going to help out by watching our two year old. I felt it was important to have a second person in the room to help provide relief and to provide feedback that wasn't from me. :) Niku is very personable and friendly, so after our first interview with her we were comfortable hiring her, and that was not a mistake.

Niku provides several meetings in advance to discuss birth plans etc and to guide us in thinking about different aspects that we hadn't considered. This was all very helpful. She also requested updates after each OB appointment and would inquire about different items we could discuss with our doctor.

Our labor didn't go as planned and we had to begin in induction that was a slow start. I was really impressed with the dedication Niku showed; she spent approximately. 38 hours with us at the hospital (we had a LONG induction that ended in a C section); these 38 hours were spread over several days and she probably would have been there longer if we hadn't sent her home to get some rest.

Even when Niku wasn't at the hospital she was still providing help; keeping in constant touch and encouraging us to ask questions of the staff before we had any procedures done.

I can't say enough how pleased I was with Niku and the services that she provides. After our first meeting I could tell that she was extremely knowledgeable about childbirth but even more important to me was the kindness and compassion that was so evident in that short meeting. Those traits alone made it an easy choice to use her doula services for the birth of our second child.

We met with her twice to talk about our birth preferences and our past birthing experience. She brought a packet of information to help us make informed decisions and she also brought up things to talk to my OB about that I never would have thought about on my own. NIku wanted to touch base after my appointments and in between to see how I was doing and just to check in. She is a great and clear communicator. We had complete access to her as much as we needed.

During my long induction that ended in a repeat c-section, she went above and beyond. NIku was there with us every step of the way. She only left us one night to get some rest and even during her time away, she still kept in contact with us. We wanted her to get some sleep after being with us for over 14 hours straight. Her soft spoken manner helped keep my calm as things were really getting going. She was a huge asset to me in L&D, helping position me in bed, walking laps with me, and getting me to laugh to ease the tension. She stayed through my c-section and helped me with skin-to-skin in recovery, and breastfeeding our son.

It still brings tears to my eyes how she shared in our joy & relief when our son was finally born.

My experience with my doula, Niku, was amazing! She helped me fully understand all the options you have throughout pregnancy and delivery. She took time to understand my birth plan and help me totally review the different options so I can research in advance. I feel the biggest value was that she helped me prepare my mental state for the experience. I was so calm, educated, and prepared. The best feeling I had was being empowered! Niku was very thorough prior to and immediately there during my regular visit/turned labor. Her support throughout the day helped me eliminate fear and focus on my personal goal to have a drug free labor using hypnobirthing. She was there with solutions and support through the day. I really feel her help was comprehensive before, during, and after labor. She is so calm and supportive. There was never a dumb question and she always remembered and considered my decisions. I would highly recommend a doula to anyone, but SUPER recommend Niku. She has the perfect personality for this role and I am so happy she was part of my experience.
