Margaret is a calm and knowledge presence from the first couple weeks of pregnancy to the baby years she has been a great support and help to me. She helped me get through a good amount of my labour at home and having someone as encouraging as her on my team really helped me. I am certain that she will be there again cheering me on for the next babies and reminding me to embrace and enjoy all the stages of parenthood (including the hard parts).

Margaret was an essential support in the birth of our son. She was able to work with my husband to make me as comfortable as possible. It was the little things that made all the difference between this birth and the birth of my daughter.

Having someone to press on my back to ease my back pain while my husband could stroke my hair, hold my hand or put cool wash cloths on my face. Having someone who has done this before to remind me how to breathe when things got hard. Having juice held so I could drink it just at the right moment, while my husband continued to hold the fetal monitor so I could stay on the birthing ball and be more comfortable than in bed. These seemingly little things made a big difference to this experience.

I felt fully supported by both my husband and Margaret and was able to have my son without an epidural, which is what I wanted, even though my labour was induced. I don't think I would have been able to do that without her support because my husband simply does not have four hands! If, in the future, we have another child on the way and we are still living in Sudbury I will be calling Margaret again for sure!

I recently gave birth to a sweet baby boy - my third (and final!) child. All of my deliveries were uncomplicated, and very fast. I had my babies at home, with just my husband, and a team of midwives who arrived truly in the nick of time. With my third baby, I was a little worried. The first two had come so fast. What would happen if this time was even faster? And what if it was in the middle of the day, with my husband across town, and two little ones underfoot?

I talked to Margaret about having her involved in the experience. Sure enough, I was alone with my small ones when it all began. Margaret arrived well before the midwives, who had a record number of babies birthed that day. She also beat out my husband. As it turned out, I really didn't need him at all ;-) What a difference it made having someone who knew exactly what I was going through, who knew the exact spot on my back to apply pressure during contractions. Who thought to bring me water with a straw. And a cup of tea and toast when it was all over. Margaret calmly and quietly anticipated - and met - my needs. I remember - right near the end - saying "I can't do this." And Margaret, in her quiet, reassuring way, said, "You ARE doing it. And you're nearly done." And I was! Even if your previous birthing experiences have been good, they could be even better! I whole-heartedly recommend involving this lovely lady in you next pregnancy and delivery. She is a gem.
