My husband and I are so happy we had Kate as our birth doula. Kate really helped us clarify what we wanted for our birth experience (while reminding us that birth experiences don't always go accordingly to 'plan') and think more deeply about the best coping mechanisms we would use during labor. When we did finally call her during active labor, she was at our house very promptly. She helped encourage different positions during labor to move things along. When we got to the birth center, Kate worked seamlessly with my husband and the rest of the birth team. As a side note: she takes wonderful pictures and really has a good eye for composition! We are very grateful to have had Kate as our doula because it allowed my husband to really be present as my birth partner and her reminders throughout labor helped keep me focused and on track. Kate is very personable and easy to get along with; it felt natural to have her with us for the experience.

We loved working with Kate and are so appreciative that she was present for the birth of our son! She's so personable, we felt like we clicked right away. In preparation for labor, she helped us articulate our birth plan, provided us with resources, and practiced coping techniques with us. During the labor, she did a great job coaching me in tandem with my husband - it was really a team effort! Beyond helping us with coping, she assisted us in communicating with the medical staff and took some wonderful photos as well. I truly believe Kate was instrumental in a successful unmedicated birth and we would recommend her to anyone!

Kate was a fantastic support person for my husband and I during the birth of our second child. She helped us prepare for birth, practice coping tools for labor, and during early labor she came over to our house, reassured us, and gave us strategies to move labor along. She made my husband and I feel more comfortable in the hospital setting, and she was able to help us communicate our goals and wishes to the hospital staff. After birth, she was a wonderful sounding board and helped us to reflect on how the birth went. On top of being a great doula, she is also a lovely person!

This has been impossibly difficult to write. Several months ago an adolescent family member was added to our already family of 5. Kiddo never had a consistent living situation longer than a week for the seven years leading up to their placement in our home. I wish that was an exaggeration. Every day was a battle. Screaming. Crying. Physical altercations. Stonewalling. Name calling. More screaming. So many tears. Every morning. Every night. Our home was a war zone with kiddo's previous traumas at the front lashing out in every direction. Enter Kate. We hired Kate for twice-weekly family mindfulness and yoga practice. What we didn't count on was how much she would care and how amazing it would be to have indiviualized instruction on mindfulness and communication for our family. She's helped this kiddo learn the language of emotion, and helped us all gain the tools we need to communicate through this transition and into a functional family. Don't get me wrong, we're still dysfunctional, but there's an amygdala and an anger iceberg on our fridge reminding us to pause, reframe and just feel our emotions without letting them control us. Kiddo is still young; things are still hard, but the daily bombs that were laying waste to our family are down to weekly, and sometimes even less than that. Our days are calmer and more connected and kiddo comes out of nowhere sharing their mindful moments with us. The transformation has been remarkable and is truly all thanks to Kate.

As first time expectant parents, we found Kate to be invaluable during the birthing process. She is kind, knowledgeable, and was extremely comforting during contractions! Having Kate guide me during active labor was instrumental in motivating me to follow my birth plan. I am proud to say I was able to deliver my son via an unmedicated water birth at our local birth center with her as my doula. Thank you for all your help, Kate!

I don't think I will be able to ever fully articulate the amazing impact Kate had on my birthing experience. Leading up the birth of our second, we were on the fence as to whether or not to use a doula. My first birth had been relatively quick, and ended with an emergency C-section. Since I was unsure to the outcome of this pregnancy, we were uncertain of our need for a doula. After some convincing on the part of my OB, I began the doula search. Kate came recommended to us from a few sources, inciuding Sharon Muza, after a labor preparation class.

Upon meeting Kate, it was immediately clear that she was perfect fit for our birth. Her calm, and thoughtful approach created ample opportunity for us to talk through our concerns, questions, and hopes for the upcoming arrival of our second little. The day of the birth came when my water broke around midnight. Kate was immediately responsive to our texts, and met up promptly at the hospital at the time agreed upon. She and my husband worked seamlessly through the whole experience, and were the best supports I could ask for.

Kate calmly and quickly moved me from one comfort measure to the next, seeming to intuitively know when the next measure would be needed. She teamed well with my husband, and they worked in tantum with one another so effortlessly that the nurses commented after that it was one of the best birthing teams they had seen.

Not only was Kate's support a huge asset to my birthing experience, but her photography skills are equally fantastic. The few shots she captured at the arrival of my baby girl were amazing, and the photography session we did a month later will be pictures we will cherish for a long time to come.

I can't recommend Kate enough for anyone looking to find a perfect match for their birth experience.

We had a very positive birth experience, and Kate was an essential part of making it happen that way. Kate brought energy, leadership, focus, and ideas to a 20-hour labor that began problematically when my wife's water broke before contractions had even started, forcing us into a race against the clock to avoid infections and other complications that occur after the water breaks. Kate began working with us over the phone at 6 PM and came to the hospital at 2 AM, and immediately began working with my wife to ensure that she used her energy efficiently and made steady progress in terms of cervix dilation. As the pain levels worsened, Kate made sure that the situation never seemed out of control or unmanageable--she channeled my wife's screams into low moans to make them more productive, and she monitored her face muscles to make sure that she stayed relaxed, always offering encouraging words. My wife spent the whole night walking around the room or in the bath, always with Kate at her side to provide hip squeezes or anything else that helped. Kate was physically tireless and partnered well with the nurses. I even overheard a nurse say to her that she rarely sees a doula put in so much effort. In the end, my wife felt comfortable enough that she could handle the contractions without an epideral, an outcome that I think would have been different if Kate were not there. Finally, Kate was the nurse's partner during the pushing phase, doing whatever was needed to deliver the baby. At 2:30 PM, the baby was born naturally and without complications.

Kate really puts her heart into her work. She was well-prepared for every preliminary meeting we had, and she continues to follow up with us to see how things are going after the birth. We highly recommend her.

Kate was an amazing doula for getting ready emotionally and psychologically for birth! We were looking for someone to support us for our first labor - we are planners, researchers, and we were wanting a natural, drug free birth. Kate was a great thinking partner for us to get us ready for the whole experience, beyond what birth classes did, and we really liked her intelligence, thoughfulness, and background in yoga and mindfulness. She ended up being sick when I went into labor, but our backup doula Katie was at the ready to meet us at midnight on a Saturday and continue to coach me through labor until my son was born at 5am. Kate's work shined through in my mentality and confidence, both during labor and as a mom! (Not to mention, we absolutely loved the backup doula Katie and felt immediately comfortable with her). I loved our conversations which introduced topics to get me thinking and allowed me to process multiple topics -- of significance was how to mentally think about labor, how I felt about medical interventions, and what it means to be a mom. And in the end, I had exactly the labor experience I wanted. Thank you Kate!

We enjoyed working with Kate very much. We met with her three times prior to our birth and I appreciated how responsive she was to our ideas about how we wanted our labor and delivery to go. She sent useful links and videos. During our labor and delivery, I felt that Kate was very perceptive of my needs. She seemed to know what would help and was quick to respond to my needs or help my husband respond to my needs. I thought she interacted with the nurses and doctors very professionally. My husband and I were both glad that Kate was there. She stayed for about an hour after our son was born and checked in with us via text a few times in the days after he was born. She visited us at home a week after he was born and offered to help with resources and support if we felt we needed it. We would both recommend Kate!
