Joni was my infertility doula throughout 2018, attending countless appointments with me- supporting me throughout the ups and downs of some pretty intense emotional times in my life. She was available to me night or day via phone or text- referred me to countless providers as I needed them for the best outcomes and my best well-being. I truly do not know how I would have gotten through it without her support. IN ADDITION TO THAT- I have worked with Joni for almost a year now as a fellow doula and I can not say enough good things about her. She has a caring, compassionate, and professional manner about her that even among doulas is hard to find! She is extremely experienced, and I can't tell you how many times I have bounced questions off of her for a second opinion. She stays within her scope ALWAYS and always plays things safe. Her clients have amazing outcomes- she is an EXPERT at natural birth, even in the most difficult hospital settings. I am excited to use her as my own doula here soon and cannot recommend her highly enough to anyone looking for a doula in Mississippi!
I can’t say enough about how happy I am that we hired Joni as our doula ! This was my second pregnancy, but first natural/ non-medicated birth. The classes and resources she had to build my knowledge and confidence were golden! She was there emotionally and physically for me throughout the preganancy and birth. My water broke at home at 7pm... she kept me encouraged through out the night. We arrived in thevlbor and deliverybroom around 8:30am at 7cm dialated. My perfectly healthy 8lb 1oz baby boy was born at 10:25AM. I couldn’t have done it with out her, my husband and honey sticks :) !! You won’t regret your decision of having a Doula as part of your birth team, and I highly recomend Joni.
I'm so glad I found Joni to be my doula! This was my first birth and I knew I wanted to have a natural home birth experience and I would have been lost if it was not for her guiding me through the whole process. At the beginning of my pregnancy, she helped me come up with a birth plan that suited me and my needs. Throughout my pregnancy she offered different childbirthing classes to get me comfortable with giving birth as well as weekly inspiration via text to keep me motivated. She was always available at any time of day to answer any questions and her answers were always followed by extra materials that I could read so I could get an unbiased solution to my issues. When I gave birth I was in labor for 36hours and Joni was there for it all(it also happened to be her child's birthday)with no sleep and no complaints. She even stayed an extra 12 hours to ake sure my family and new addition were healthy and thriving. She's very professional and knowledgable about her field and there is no task too small or too big that she won't help you get through. My newborn just tuned two months yesterday and Joni still checks on us regularly and still provides any assistance we need. Joni's professialism makes her a good doula but her her warm hearted nature and sweet spirit makes her a great doula! She made my birth a personal experience that I will never forget and when we are ready for baby number two, Joni is the first on our list to call.
I am so happy I chose Joni to be my doula!! She helped me have a successful fully natural birth after having a previous csection!!!! During my pregnancy she was always available whenever i needed her or had a question no matter what time of the day or night it was. I loved how all of her responses were evidence based and she usually had a link to go with her answer. lol. She is very knowledgable and always helping others. Ive never met anyone so caring and that gives so much of their time. During my birth she made sure I had the birth I wanted by speaking for me when she needed too, by offering me all the support I needed, and helping me get through my painful contractions. she helped me breathe through my contractions effectively, had great ideas for pain relief management like certain ways to use the birthing ball, used counter pressure, and hot or cold packs, and different positions to get in to relieve the pain. She was fully prepared with all sorts of things to make my labor easier and just having her their made me so comfortable! She helped me remain calm and encouraged me that my body was made to birth ny baby even when I started to feel I couldnt do it she started hanging the birth affirmations that really helped!!! i cant recommend her enough from all of our talks, her child birth classes, how helpul she was to me! even after I had my baby just the way I wanted because of her, she came by to visit and helped out and has still checked on me to make sure me and baby are ok and baby is breastfeeding good etc! thanks so much
My husband, family, and I couldn't have been more happy with our experience with Joni. I had a 32 hour labor and she was there the entire time. If I had to go back and do it again without her there is no way I would have been able to make it through the whole labor without giving in to an epidural or a c-section. She encouraged me the entire time and when I needed most she reminded me that it was my birth and that I could do whatever I wanted but to remember what I wanted. I would recommend her to everyone I know, she is great at what she does and you can tell that she absolutely loves what she does. If you are looking for a great doula, stop looking you have found her!
My husband and I are extremely thank for joni and her services m! If it wasn't for her or birth would of been 100% different, and not by choice. Our birth plan was attacked from the moment we walked into the hospital at 9:30am until after 10:36 pm when out little man was born. Without Joni, our first birth would not of gone as planed and I 100% would of be scared into the medicated birth I didn't want. Luckily, I was able to have the birth I wanted and had the most beautiful experience and I could not say other wise. I did have complications that could of been avoided after little man was born, although I don't remember them since I was in labor, Joni and my husband where my rock!
Joni was a God send before, during, and after labor/delivery. This was my first pregnancy. My husband and I wanted a natural unmedicated birth. I could depend on Joni to answer my questions or direct me to my provider when needed. She was very patient and understanding throughout the entire pregnancy and delivery. The classes she offered really helped us prepare. I'm so glad we chose Joni to be our doula! We will definitely be contacting her for our next pregnancy!
I consider myself so blessed to have had Joni as my doula. Before my labor, she helped my husband and i to prepare with input to my birth plan and giving us a private birth class that focused on very practical, personalized needs. More than that, though, I felt like Joni truly understood and supported us exactly where we were. Before the birth even happened, I felt so at ease with her, and I knew she was there for me. I ended up having a full week of prolonged early labor, and Joni went above and beyond during that time. As a potential VBAC, I had to go to the hospital early, so she made multiple hospital trips with me as my labor picked up and slacked off. She helped me to try lots of different exercises and yoga positions to help engage my baby and get him to drop, and she encouraged and backed me up when hospital nurses tried to disregard my birth plan or discourage me. Once labor started, she even drove me to the hospital, since my husband was at work! I sadly ended up with cord prolapse (baby's cord got in front of his head) that was very severe, and had to have my second emergency cesarean. It was devastating to get that news, but thanks to Joni and the rest of my supportive birth team, I went into it feeling peaceful and cared for. While I waited for the operating room, I was unable to move for the baby's safety, and Joni was there every minute, encouraging me, praying for me, holding my hand, and talking me through contractions. Thanks to her and the rest of my birth team, this birth, though it wasn't what I wanted, was so positive that I'm not afraid to think about future pregnancies, and I don't have any regrets about my son's birth!
Joni was an excellent post-partum doula who helped tremendously in our unique situation. We came from out of state to adopt a baby at birth and didn't know anyone in town. Joni was such a helpful resource before we got there and then a calming presence in a time of turbulance, uncertainty, complications at delivery (although she wasn't at the delivery, she was a text-msg consultant for me, the adoptive mom), and as we brought our newborn to our temporary "home" while we waited for clearance to return to our real home. More than anything, Joni provided wonderful peace of mind as I re-learned how to care for a newborn (it'd been four years, a long time!) and gave me the breaks I needed to catch up with myself. Having Joni's help was such a lifesaver for me at a very stressful time, and having her reassuring advice about everything from worrying about the baby's poop to listening to his breathing to giving him a bath. Highly recommend Joni as a post-partum doula!
I met Joni on Monday as she was my doulas back up. Well I went into labor the following Wednesday night/Thursday morning and she had to relieve my doula late Thursday night/early Friday morning. Having Joni there for those hard contractions was amazing she never left my side, she got my very nice ice cold pack and she was just there as the contractions were right on top of each other. During that time she told me once you get to a 5 it's all down hill from there. From hitting 5 cm until I had my son was right under 4 hours. She made sure I always had my water and ice and that I got sweet pictures right after my son was born. She would hand me my dead leg and hold my head and tell me I can do it as I'm pushing and that it was ok when I didn't feel pressure every single contraction. Her being there kept my nerves at bay and I was able to stay focused on having my vbac. It was the best experience I could ever have asked for in a birth and if we didn't go the doula route I can guarantee it wouldn't have been as peaceful and empowering as it was.
