Client Testimonials for Susanna Prince

Post a testimonial for Susanna Prince

Susanna was an objective, nonjudgmental listener for me when I needed it the most. She provided essential household support and expert advice to support the entire family. And whenever my baby was with Susanna - I was confident he was getting the absolute best care with his well being and development as the top priority. Susanna’s guidance and partnership helped our family navigate one of the most difficult times for new parents (and siblings). We were lucky to have found her and highly recommend her as a postpartum doula.

Susanna is the best postpartum doula any new mother could ask for. My husband and I moved to Seattle back in the summer of 2016 and we have no family or close friends in the state. The birth of our first child was in June, 2018 and we actually decided last minute to hire a postpartum doula because we were worried about our situation if our daughter arrived early, since my husband's paternity leave would not be starting until a week after my due date. Claire ended up arriving 5 days early, luckily having Susanna as my doula, really made everything easier and I felt like I had someone that I could trust and felt comfortable around, to be at home with me and the baby.

Susanna has been with us since our daughter Claire was only 5 days old and stayed with us until Claire was 4 months old. I am also currently still in touch with Susanna and she has come over to watch Claire when I needed to go to an appointment by myself.

Susanna has a very warm, calm and soothing personality. She was extremely helpful the first week as I was exhausted and being a first time mom, I had no clue what I was doing, but she was right there, helping me and giving me information and suggestions in a non-judgmental or forceful manner. She would help around the house with washing baby bottles, pump parts and with doing Claire's laundry and folding clothes. She was very sweet to our two senior dogs who now love her since she would let them out in the backyard to play and would pet them and give them treats when she was over.

I struggled with breastfeeding for 10 weeks and Susanna went with me to every lactation consultant appointment and was very supportive and encouraging with my breastfeeding while at home. I honestly believe 100% that if it wasn't for Susanna, I would have given up on breastfeeding in the first two weeks.Hiring Susanna was the best decision we made. She is an excellent postpartum doula and has so much valuable information and knowledge.

To say that the arrival of my son was complicated would be an understatement. The birth itself was tremendously difficult. He had health issues that required an extended NICU stay, surgery, and multiple procedures. During that time, he contracted an infection and almost died. Simultaneously, my husband was affected by a post-partum mood disorder due to the traumatic nature of the birth, and was also hospitalized. By the time both were home, we were feeling utterly unequipped to parent our new child.
Susanna stepped in and quietly rallied all our resources for us. Her research and recommendations scanned a breadth I did not expect, but more importantly, her personal expertise seems to know no end. Infant care and post-natal women’s health, of course, but also mental health, nutritional science, sleep science, it doesn’t seem fair to say “domestic science,” but I can’t think of any other way to put it. She had practical knowledge far beyond topics I thought I needed help with. She seems to have a bottomless appetite for keeping up with the latest research in all of these areas, and always had a reason for her every recommendation.
Simultaneously, she exudes what I, in my sleep deprivation, called “that doula-y touchy feely factor.” (Thank goodness she laughed and was not offended!) Susanna integrated into our home effortlessly and seamlessly, and treated us with unending patience and warmth. She taught us how to care for our son and ourselves, and showed us we still had strength left when we thought it was gone. She restored a sense of calm in our home and showed us that we could still laugh. She may well be solely responsible for our continued sanity and health. If and when I get pregnant again, Susanna will be my first call. After my mom… maybe.

We started working with Susanna when our daughter was a couple of weeks old. Susanna helped us to figure out our role as caregivers during those very early days of new parenthood. I’m particularly thankful to her for helping me build confidence as a new mom. She provided much-needed breastfeeding support and answered our many (often silly) questions. She put together a resource guide with important links and articles tailored to our family. She stressed that we could always call her with questions. It was great to feel that support, and even now, I know I can reach out to her with a question.

After Drew returned to work, Susanna's visits were an important part of creating a routine. Susanna’s visits were times when I could have help with chores, when I could have a break, take a shower, have an adult conversation or nap. She was wonderful with our baby and our cats. I really appreciated the weeks she spent with our family and sincerely believe we have a better foundation as a family because of her time with us.

I cannot say enough good things about Susanna! My husband and I truly believe that she made all the difference. We are first time parents with no family or close friends living in the area. We hired her when our daughter was just a week old. As tough as those first weeks were, she made us feel we can do it and enjoy it. Susanna not only gave us the practical and emotional support we needed but also left us with a sense of confidence in ourselves - for us the most important thing! Susanna was also great with helping me to figure out what I would need for the baby, suggested books to read, prepared a wonderful resources document and many other things that are still now (my baby is 4 months now) very useful for us, especially with regard of sleeping routine. We highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a postpartum doula and always happy to share our experience to other family.

Susanna helped my wife Cassie and I out a ton during the first few months of new parenthood as our postpartum doula. My wife had to have a catheter for nearly 2 weeks after giving birth, so she was mostly immobile. Having Susanna come over to help with laundry, dishes, baby care, and cooking was a huge boost and stress reliever for both of us. Also, Susanna is an excellent resource for infant care and all postpartum knowledge. She really knows her stuff and is easy to talk to and to have around. Would definitely recommend to anyone in need of a postpartum doula.

Susanna was our postpartum doula for a few weeks. She cared for our baby girl when she was from 2 months to 3 months old. She helped me after my mother left and was a true life saver. She took a great care of our infant, we could tell that Emma liked her a lot. She has a very gentle and nurturing approach and is really trying to understand the baby’s own rhythm rather than forcing a schedule.

She was also a great support after my mastitis, and was able to give me good advice on breastfeeding and help me build a stash while preventing another mastitis to occur. I was also able to ask her anything and she would research it and create a document full of resources for us to keep. She helped us at home to, doing laundry and preparing food.

It was great to have her also as a moral support, and she helped my husband and I get more confident about our parenting approach (being parents for the first time). She was always very empathic, offering many suggestions but always letting us decide which way to take. She definitely helped us tremendously navigating these first months of parenting.

Our baby had a strong reflux and was sleeping very poorly. Susanna helped us identify it and our pediatrician confirmed the diagnosis and put her under treatment. The following night, baby was sleeping 9hrs straight! Complete different baby overnight. She also referred me to a great naturopath and cranial therapist to help with her symptom and look for some allergies/intolerances.

I warmly recommend Susanna!

Susanna started working with us when our infant was five weeks old.  She is organized, positive, understanding, a good listener, flexible, and knowledgeable.  As a parent it has been a pleasure to work with her, and she was gentle and competaent with our infant.  She helped us access resources and gave us written cliff notes versions in formats that best suited our needs.  She also was a great help in multi-tasking with our toddler.  Thank you Susanna!

Susanna is, in a word, wonderful. She stepped in to help care for our two-week old daughter and quickly made herself indispensable to our family in areas both big and small. She's very knowledgeable, warm, calming, and simply a pleasure to be around. Our daughter is as fond of her as we are!
