What can I say about Bailey outside of, "She is AMAZING!!!". I knew going into my pregnancy that I wanted to attempt at having a natural birth and the best way to achieve that would be to hire a doula (support person). Knowing this, almost immediately after finding out I was pregnant I went on a doula search. I researched extensively and interviewed several doulas and finally landed on Bailey's profile. We sent up a meeting and it was like "love at first sight". Bailey answered every question we had and displayed her level of knowledge during that first meeting. We left knowing Bailey was the one!! Throughout my pregnancy, Bailey sent articles that coincided with where I was gestationally. She always wanted to hear about my appointments and the conversations that happened with my provider. In those conversations, she was genuine in wanting to hear how everything went and offered advice for any issues I ran into. Fast forward to my labor, it didn't go as planned. I labored for close to 45 hours, only reaching to 6cm. At that time, my cervix started to swell due to baby trying to come down for so long. Having gestational high BP and baby's heartrate fluctuating based on how I responded to the contractions, we decided to move forward with a C-section. I wasn't prepared mentally to go through that procedure, but Bailey reassured me that even though my goal of having a natural birth was altered she reminded me however the baby entered the world, I BIRTHED HIM! That resonated so much with me, it brought me to tears. Even after the birth, Bailey checked in to see how motherhood was going, if I was running into any issues, etc. I really can't put into words how grateful we are for Bailey's knowledge and support during pregnancy and after birth. Let's just say, Bailey will more than likely be the 2nd person to know when I'm expecting again :)
After having a less than desirable birthing experience with my first little one I knew I needed to go into my second pregnancy more educated. I had a friend who used a doula with her second baby and swore by it! Naturally, I reached out to my friend and got the low down. She lead me right to MyBirth and Bailey. Bailey and I met and there was an instant connection. This is starting to sound like a love story, haha! I interviewed several doulas and none of us hit it off like Bailey and I did! The rest is history!
Attempting a VBAC was very important to me and having the right support system was absolutely necessary! She sent me articles to read during each trimester, was available for my seemingly obnoxious questions at all times of the day, and always had a calming voice that made me feel right at ease no matter the circumstance! Bailey’s positive outlook and confidence in your body (even though I didn’t have it for myself) helped me through a successful, empowering VBAC! There aren’t words to express my extreme gratitude for Bailey the work doulas do during this season of life!
We met Bailey when we attended the childbirth class at MyBirth. Weeks after the class was over we learned that due to our baby being breech we would have to have to attempt an ECV to try for a vaginal birth. This was a difficult decision. My husband and I both thought we should talk about this with Bailey as she was so informative and warm in her teaching style. Bailey took the time to sit down with us as we weighed the pros and cons of the procedure. After the meeting we both felt empowered with our decision. We also decided to have Bailey as our doula. It was one of the best decisions we made. We always felt good after our meetings with her. She was a great support for myself and my husband during our birth as well as after.
Bailey was a crucial part of both my children’s births. When I was pregnant with my first, my husband and I were on the fence about whether or not a doula was right for us. In the end, hiring Bailey proved to be the best decision! Bailey was so supportive and helpful. She helped to explain my options and always supported our decisions. She made the hospital room incredibly calming with lights, scents and her overall presence. Bailey knew when she could push me a little and when it was time to try something different. I was able to deliver both my children without an epidural thanks to her support and guidance. I can’t say enough wonderful things about her and I highly recommend her!
Bailey was an amazing doula and a perfect fit for us as a couple to welcome our first child into the world. Her wisdom and knowledge were an incredible resource to know what to anticipate going into the birth process. When labor came on quicker than anticipated and the hospital things were going slow, Bailey was a guardian angel and an amazing buffer for us. I could just be in my zone getting a baby earthside, and I didn't have to worry about a thing. She's a dear, sweet soul who loves what she does and she does it well!
Actual quote from my mom after giving birth to my son: "Your birth was so luxurious, it makes me want to have another baby!" I'm not sure if "luxuious" is the right word to describe the birthing experience, but mine was definitely a great experience and I can thank Bailey for that. My husband and I decided to hire Bailey because we could tell after our initial meeting that she would be a calm, reassuring addition to our support team. I battle anxiety, and after having a miscarriage only months prior, I knew I needed someone who had a steady, calm, positive personality who could provide research-based information and emotional support in the months leading up to the birth and during L&D. And she did! Being a first time mom can be quite overwhelming-everything is new. Bailey was so helpful when I would text and ask, "Is this normal?!" She encouraged me to call my midwife if I had any concerns and give me positive encouragement at each new stage. Bailey was very patient/gracious when we were sent home from the hospital and returned a couple hours later. She set up a diffuser with a calming essential oil, created a timeline of events, handed me powerade/pretzels as I labored in the tub, and held my hand and locked eyes with me during contractions. When I struggled to push, Bailey quietly pushed a standing mirror over. I never thought I would want one, but Bailey knew exactly what I needed and it helped tremenously. I could see immediate results & got really excited as the baby's head continued to emerge, but this time at a faster rate. When the recovery did not go as smoothly as we hoped, she was available to talk about my experience and encourage me. Bailey is very knowledgeable & uses her knowledge in a positive, professional manner to fully support the family. I highly reccommend Bailey if you are looking for a knowledgable, calming, positive doula to support you in your birthing process.
I started looking into wanting a doula pretty late in my pregnancy and stumbled across Bailey, she was able to meet with me right away and I knew it was going to be a good fit from the start. When it came time for labor even though things didn’t go the way I thought they would she was a great and needed addition to my team that day taking care of me and also my husband and then after delivery taking care of us plus baby Hazel, so happy with my experience and would highly recommend her to anyone wanting that support during birth.
Bailey has been such an important part of both of my babies births and I am so happy to have had her at my side through all of it. So much so that one of the first questions my husband asked when he found out I was pregnant with our second was “Did you call Bailey yet?” She is always there to answer any question small or large and help you through any pregnancy stress. She helped calm my nerves on so many levels. Having her at my side during my birth was absolutely what my husband and I needed. My second birth went much quicker than we anticipated and she helped me through it over the phone until she could get to the hospital. As soon as she walked in the room she went straight to work making sure I was comfortable, setting up all the lights, getting me my essential oils to smell and getting me into position to make sure baby moved down. She held my leg while I pushed and let me know how I was doing. And she even took some of my most treasured photos of my baby’s birth! Bailey truly is one of a kind. She is an amazing human and doula and any family would be lucky to work with her.
Bailey was an absolute necessity for my second and third pregnancies! I wanted a natural, unmedicated birth for my second child and I believe that Bailey was a huge part of making that happen. She was not only a support in person, but the knowledge she gave me helped give me the mental strength to birth my baby the way I wanted. Baby #2 came fast, but Bailey was calm and collected getting us to the hospital just in time (6 minutes before baby girl made her debut). Afterward, it was such a comfort having her there.
My husband and I appreciated her so much that we knew we wanted her to be our doula for our third baby as well. My labor with our third baby was very fast. The tools Bailey provided helped me navigate labor and I believe helped speed the process by keeping me focused and relaxed. Again, she was a blessing to have with us through my pregnancy and I wouldn't have had it any other way!
Bailey is not only a phenomenal doula, but a sweet and caring woman who makes you feel comfortable and calm throughout your pregnancy, labor, delivery, and beyond. She will always hold a special place in our hearts!
My husband and I hired Bailey as part of our team to help us with a low intervention birth that we had planned for the birth of our first child. She was absolutely amazing during my pregnancy, always checking in about doctor's visits, encouraging me to ask questions about the care I was receiving and to stand up for what I wanted as far as inducing labor goes. When my water broke at 9:30pm and contractions started within 30 minutes, she walked me through the whole process of what I needed to do and was a wonderful resource, even though it was the middle of the night. We arrived at the hospital at 4:15am, she was there by 4:30am to help us get situated and figure out what the plan going forward was. Our birth did not progress the way that we planned, but she walked us through our options and made me feel safe and informed. We got an epidural around 9:30am so that I could get some sleep and try to relax so baby could progress. After another 6 hours of labor that wasn't progressing quickly and due to me getting an infection and my son having tacchycardia, we were told by the doctor that a c-section would be necessary. Bailey walked us through it, stayed with me and my husband during and after the surgery and was an amazing resource after he was born. She made me feel that even though my birth and breastfeeding didn't go the way I'd planned, that I hadn't failed as a mom, but was a champion momma. I cannot recommend Bailey enough!!
I cannot express how invaluable Bailey was before, after, and during my birth! In addition to her ability to answer every pregnancy question I had, she was a great coach and helped me to not completely lose myself during a difficult labor. She also gave me the knowledge and support in order for me to make decisions about my care without regrets. My birth did not go according to my birth plan and having Bailey there to talk through it alleviated any disappointment I may have felt otherwise. She was insightful during the post-partum visits and helped me to adjust to my new role as a mother. Bailey was exactly what I needed as a first-time mother: always available for questions, a treasure-trove of valuable information, and confident and encouraging during the delivery.
My husband and I met with Bailey and I immediately knew she was a fit for us. Her calm demeanor along with wide knowledge base helped me throughout both my pregnancy and delivery. I was a VBAC patient and very nervous; still emotionally recovering from my previous C-section. Baily provided me with literature and tools to help ease my mind and prepare me for the VBAC experience.
When I went into labor, Bailey was irreplaceable. She was a vital part of my birth team and I truly feel that I could not have been successful without her by my side. I labored a long time (36 hours) and she was right there with me for the whole experience. She remained a steady source of encouragement and helped ease my nerves as contractions became unbearable.
My husband was skeptical about hiring a doula when we first discussed it. After working with Bailey, he agrees that she was critical to my successful VBAC. I delivered a 10pd 6oz baby girl VBAC. I absolutely loved working with her and would highly recommend her to anyone considering a doula.
If you are on the fence about getting a doula, DO IT! It was single-handedly the best decision we made in preparing for the birth of our second child. Bailey was absolutely perfect for us! I chose Bailey because she immediately gave me a sense of calm and confidence when we were talking about the disappointing birth I experienced with our first chlid. Throughout my pregnancy, she was communicative, did a lot of research and problem solving for me when I had certain questions, and was most importantly a shoulder to lean on and a sounding board whenever I needed her. Toward the end of my pregnancy, she stayed in constant communication and helped me stay focused and believe in my body when I started to doubt myself. My baby turned transverse in my 40th week. When I started to panic, she kept me calm and gave me a lot of options to try, even dropping everything for an accupressure session. Our hard work paid off and he turned and I went into labor on my own! As I labored at home, she stayed in contact and joined us when the time came. When we headed to the hospital, she quickly got my room ready, made sure the nurses saw our birth preferences, and helped my husband be the perfect birth partner. Bailey was there every step of the way, but wasn't the focus. My husband and I were so connected because she gave him the confidence to know how to help me. She guided us to try different laboring and pushing positions. When the going got really tough while pushing, she continued to share her belief with me and in no time, our sweet son was Earthside! The labor and delivery that I always dreamed of came true and I owe a huge part of it to Bailey! She was there every step of the way and truly felt like family. Even after delivery if I had any questions I knew I could reach out. She checked in on us frequently and I never felt alone. Working with Bailey was a beautiful experience and makes me want to have a hundred babies! We love you, Bailey!
Where do I even begin? Bailey was absolutely amazing and I wouldn't have made it through without her! She was there for me from the beginning with any questions or concerns I had during my pregnancy. She always took time out to check in on me and make sure that everything with my pregnancy was going well. When I went into labor she helped to calm me down and remind me of different things to do to stay comfortable before we went to the hospital. Once we were at the hospital and in the thick of things she helped to press on my pressure points, motivate me, and remind me of what was happening and how to get through it. She was absolutely amazing. Bailey not only helped me but she helped my husband get me through labor. When my "plan" wasn't working she supported me and every decision I made. I couldn't have done it without her. Thank you Bailey!!! You are truly amazing!
Bailey was simply amazing! We hired her on a Saturday, and my water broke unexpectedly on Monday at 35 weeks. she was at the hospital within an hour of calling her despite not even having a aohned contract in hand. she was professional and thorough with her knowledge of getting labor started, managing labor pain when little was turned the wrong way and finally calling the nurse to say it was time to push. I can't imagine a more caring and compassionage lady. Our little one spent a few days in the nicu (just to grow a bit - no serious medical problems), and Bailey checked in with me everyday, multiple times a day. and of course, when he came home, she came for a visit to help ensure that everything was going well. we are forever grateful to Bailey. without her, the birth of our son would have been infinitely more overwhelming.
I had such a wonderful experience with Bailey as my doula. She exceeded my expectations. I didn't anticipate all the prenatal education that she gave me, and I was so thankful for it. Knowing what to anticipate and talking out different scenarios really helped to put my mind at ease in anticipation for the birth of our second child. My first son was a c-section, and my goal was a natural VBAC. She assisted with trying to get my body to go into labor with accupressure and education on different positions and exercises I could do to get my body ready. Even though the VBAC wasn't successful, I still had a very positive labor/birth experience and Bailey was a large reason why. At the beginning of labor, she came to my house and helped me get into different positions and encouraged me to continue laboring at home (which is what I wanted, but my nerves were getting the best of me). By the time we arrived to the hospital, I was 7cm. I continued to labor at the hospital for 11 more hours and Bailey never left my side. We walked the halls, stairs, and did many different positions to help baby drop. My husband and I would have been so lost without her. She also was amazing at showing my husband how to help and keep me comfortable. I never felt like she was in the way or was taking the place of what I wanted my husband to do which was important to me. Up until the point where a c-section was necessary, I had a natural, medication-free labor and I was grateful for that. I knew that we did everything we could to achieve a VBAC, but a c-section is what my baby needed to have a safe delivery. I have no regrets when it comes to my labor experience, only positive memories and I have Bailey and Dr. Hirata to largely thank for that.
Our birth experience was not exactly what we had hoped to experience. Aside from a C section, it was about as medical as they come. With that said, Bailey was still a wonderful asset and so very comforting to have present.
We did not really prepare for pregnancy and birth like many people-we did not go to classes. I only listened to one or two parenting books on CD. My friend had a great way of describing our approach-"I don't plan on doing this often enough to warrant my becoming an expert. I just need to get through it a time or two"This is why having a doula was so wonderful-she knew all the details and helped coach us through it. I felt so much more at ease knowing she was a source I could trust to give me the pros and cons of decisions in the moment when I was in too much pain to think straight.
Bailey educated us on the process before we went to the hospital. Then she helped my husband help me with the pain with natural techniques li pressing on my hips. She even held me up when my husband almost passed out while holding me up for my epidural!
Bailey made sure we were ok after the birth and let us have time as a family after. She came to the house several times after birth to help with breast feeding and make sure I was ok and the baby was great. it was wonderful to have her reassurance on the things I had no clue on how to do as a new mom.
We loved her laid back style and energy. It was perfect!
Full disclosure, my experience was not the birth I had hoped for, but with my support team (Bailey, my midwife, my best friend, and my husband) we were able to make the experience an overwhelmingly positive one. When I was feeling nauseated, she was there to hand my husband a bucket. When I was looking overwhelmed, she would procure q-tips with peppermint or lavender oil to touch to my nose so the scent would bring me around. When I mentioned my feet felt like they were seizing up, she was there rubbing them with essential oils. When the crowning turned into a pain marathon, she was handing over endless quantities of oil for the midwife to use.
It's thanks to their efforts that I didn't get torn in half, turned off entirely from the whole concept of having another child, or thoroughly mishandled by well-intentioned but basically uninformed medical staff. Bailey's calm, soothing voice was always in the back of my mind, cutting through the excited voices of the nurses like a cool breeze in the middle of a tropical heat wave. She gave me something to focus on besides "PUSH!" (ad infinitum ad nauseum). And after the birth she was able to discreetly tag team my exhausted husband and follow up with us at the hospital the next day.
At no point did I feel pressured into doing anything I didn't want for myself, and though I ended up needing an epidural after 29 hours of no sleep and no releif from back labor, she was thoroughly supportive. We discussed pros and cons, I didn't feel like I was being shoved into unnecessary medical intervention land, and her assurances that I was doing the right thing kept me from spiraling into a cycle of self loathing. Her continued support has helped me to feel as though I could do this all over again, without blinking.
My husband and I had the good fortune to meet Bailey the day I went into labor! It was a crazy story...basically we'd decided at about 35 weeks that we wanted to try for a low intervention birth and that we wanted to find a Doula to help coach us through the process. On Monday May 16th I was 36 weeks exactly. That evening at 6:30 pm we had our first interview with Bailey to see if it was a good fit. We had a great interview and decided to hire her on the way home. That was around 7:15. At 8:30 that night my water broke! We anxiously packed our bags and headed to the hospital. On the way my husband called Bailey and told her the crazy news and asked if she'd be interested and available in joining us immediately. To our suprise Bailey dropped everything and joined us at the hospital that evening and again the next morning when my labor began to progress. To say that it was a game changer would be an understatement. The timing of meeting Bailey felt like divine intervention. She really helped us feel way more confident, educated and relaxed throughout the whole process--particularly because we were preterm. Bailey is young but wise beyond her years. Super smart, kind, knoweldgable and nurturing she's everything you could want in a birthing coach. She has a wonderful future ahead of her as a Doula or wherever that journey may take her. I can't recommend working with her enough!
