Chrissy was and still is integral to the success of the natural birth of our baby boy and the success of exclusive breastfeeding.
From our first meeting, we instantly felt comfortable with Chrissy and her calming, confident presence. My husband and I were looking for an experienced doula who would let us do our own thing and assist in a natural hospital labor, but was also knowledgeable about all of the medical aspects of childbirth. Chrissy exceeded our expectations on both fronts.
She provided great insight during the prenatal time, always making herself available via text/phone/email. She even came to our house during rush hour in a rainstorm to discuss our birthing time wishes and plan.
Labor progressed much quicker than expected during a hospital induction, but Chrissy left the minute we asked her to and helped me through the toughest parts of my labor with the gentle presence and natural pain relief techniques that brought us the greatest gift we could have ever hoped for, a healthy baby boy! She stayed for a while after to ensure baby breastfed and latched successfully.
She remained in close contact with us while we were in the hospital. When I got very discouraged on the first day with breastfeeding in the hospital, Chrissy came the next day and helped us make breastfeeding a fun family activity, which we still think of it to this day! Getting my husband involved in the breastfeeding experiences has and continues to be incredible.
Chrissy has been so available in the four weeks since our son's birthday. We've worked through supply issues, baby food allergies/sensitivities, baby weight gain, relief for gas and so much more.
Bottom line, Chrissy isn't just a doula who makes sure you have the birth you want. She fiercely cares about you and your new family, helping and supporting you however she can to ensure you enjoy your time with your newest bundle who you will love more than you could ever imagine.
I hired Chrissy to support me while in labor. What I loved about her was her personality and ability to answer all of my questions. She has attended many different types of births and has a lot of knowledge to offer. Just knowing I had such an amazing advocate on my side gave me a lot of comfort and confidence. Chrissy has experience assisting women in many different birth settings which is why I know that regardless of the type of birth a woman wishes to achieve, Chrissy is the perfect match.
When I went into labor Chrissy took me to the hospital and was by my side providing such amazing support and helping me to communicate with hospital staff. Chrissy works well with others and I admire her ability to understand what I needed without me having to say anything. She gave me confidence to stick to my decisions and I was able to have the vbac I so desperately wanted. There is no price tag to the kind of support I recieved that made me feel so safe and secure at such a vulnerable time in my life. I encourage anyone looking for any type of support prior, during or after birth to consider working with Chrissy. I could not have done it without her.
I hired Chrissy to attend the birth of my second son who arrived at the end of March. I could not be more thankful that I did! Chrissy is the kindest, calmest, most capable, experienced and knowledgeable woman I could ever have hoped to have present at my birth. My birth ended up having some complications and Chrissy handled them professionally, medically and spiritually without batting an eye.
I went into active labor at 2am and called Chrissy and my midwife to let them know. Chrissy only lives 15 minutes away and the midwife was 45 minutes so I was not surprised when Chrissy was there first within 20 minutes. I WAS surprised however to find that I had already begun to transition. She instantly recognized what was happening and seamlessly swooped in for support. I was in the bathroom moaning and breathing while Chrissy held me up and spoke to me quietly. At some point I managed to launch myself onto the floor on all fours and I suddenly could tell the baby was coming--I had only been in active labor for an hour. But I felt him descending and told her so. My midwife had not yet arrived, but Chrissy was unfazed. I pushed once and caught his head, but then he got stuck. I was on all fours and Chrissy was behind me. She later told me that my baby had presented face first which is a total anomaly. He was also sunny side up, and stuck because the cord was around his neck--twice--AND he had shoulder dystocia. Thank goodness for her midwifery training and experience, because she knew just what to do and delivered my baby without a hitch. I honestly don't know what I would have done had she not been there. I am so grateful to her for getting my baby here safely. She is truly an angel to the birth profession and I would happily recommend her without hesitatio. Chrissy is exactly the kind of person you want at your birth.
As I sit here looking at my son, 17 days old, and still 5 days away from my due date, I can not even begin to imagine how the birth would have happened without Chrissy by my side.
My husband and I knew we wanted to hire a doula and when I met with Chrissy I knew she was the perfect fit. Right from that first meeting, I felt at ease and comforted that the birth of our first child would go smoothly. I had specific things that I wanted for the rest of my pregnancy, my labor and delivery, and Chrissy helped me to gather my thoughts and ideas and determine how I would achieve my goals. She encouraged me to research different birthing techniques and talked to me about natural pain management. She came to the house to meet with both my husband and me and brought us a list of things for us to do and a list of things that she will assist us with. During labor she rubbed my back to ease the tension brought on by contractions, she fed me ice chips and put cold washcloths on my neck and forehead. She helped me remember exactly what I had told her about my birth plan (there was no time for the nurses to read it), and coached me in breathing and pushing.
After our son was born, she stayed with me for over an hour to help get me settled and comfortable. She spoke with my husband and parents. The next day she came to see me at the hospital, and she also went to my house to see my husband and bring some personal care products and she gave him a list of things to do to help me recover. When we got home Chrissy came to see us the next day to check in and see how we were managing and to help with breastfeeding.
I cannot say enough about Chrissy. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone. As my husband tells everyone, "I don't know how anyone does this without the doula lady! She was a lifesaver and is a wealth of knowledge!"
You're wonderful Chrissy, for everything, we can't thank you enough!
My birth experience with Chrissy as my doula was nothing short of magical. She was there for my family & I before my labor began, throughout my beautiful home birth, and visited us in the days after my baby girl was born for extra support. She was my rock. She coached me through the most difficult moments and kept me grounded and calm. I am forever grateful to have had such an amazing woman by my side for the most wonderful experience of my life so far. We consider her family, and cannot recommend her enough!! I thank my stars that we were matched. I'll remember her always. We love you, Chrissy!!
I can't say enough about Chrissy. From the moment my husband Tom and I met her we knew she was the doula for us. She has a warm, calming and very friendly personality. Chrissy was there for me in the weeks leading up to the birth of our second baby wether it be by sending a text to just check in or coming over to the house to chat. I was able to tell her my fears about labor and she was always very reassuring reminding that I can and will be able to do it. The day I went into labor I didn't want to believe that it was really happening. When I sent Chrissy a message saying that I wanted her to come to the house she responded right away and was here very quickly. When she arrived and saw that I was entering transition she immediately went to work with my labor flow by helping me to rock my hips and massage my back. With the baby coming more quickly then I thought she kept her cool and directed my husband on task to help get me ready. She was so calm and with every rush she let me know when one was starting, peaking and coming down. This really helped me focus. Our baby was born at home within minutes of my midwife showing up. Chrissy never let on that things were going fast and kept my husband and I calm. After the baby was here and I was settled in bed she made me scrambled eggs and even fed them to me since my hands were full! I don't know that I could have gotten threw the final stages of labor with out her. I would with out a doubt use her again and will for sure be telling everyone I know about her!
