I couldn't be happier with our decision to use Kate as our doula. We debated back and forth about whether or not we "needed" a doula, and the answer is Yes!! You do need a doula, and Kate is the perfect balance of knowledge, experience and calmness we needed during labor. She came recommended from another doula that was already booked for our month, and we would highly recommend! With Kate's help, we were able to have the birth we had planned on. I knew I wanted to try a natural, free of intervention(as much as possible at a hospital) birth, but was also a bit nervous of the idea seeing as I had never gone through laboring before. Kate had the answers to all my questions, and was very reassuring of all our worries that come naturally being first time parents! She was the key extra person to have around to tell us when it was time to go to the hospital, and push on my hips/back when my husband was busy letting me squeeze his hand(s)!! Loved having Kate there for our labor, and also very helpful at postpartum meet ups for the all the questions you wouldn't know you had until after the babe arrives!
I am so grateful that I found Kate. I was horribly unorganized and very late to hire a doula, moving into town just a month before my due date. She was flexible and fast to respond making it easy to get signed up at the last minute. Kate is a wonderful support, encouragment and resource. Her knowledge as a massage therapist helped me understand and treat sciadic nerve pain and was a great support during labor. Her calm, non-judgemental demenor was comforting as I went back and forth deleting some medical interventions from our birth plan and then adding them back in again. She's also just fun and all 4 of the family members I had present at birth enjoyed her. I would highly recommend Kate and will be giving her a call again myself for any future pregnancies.
Kate was essential to getting me through my tipsy turvy pregnancy/birth. Even after things didn't go our way multiple times, she stayed in call and was ready as soon as we needed her! She is a loving soul and she knew exactly what we needed when we needed it, especially when I was feeling like an overwhelmed hot mess!
