We had Caitlin as our doula in April 2017. We were not very well prepared for pregnancy / child birth. After meeting with Caitlin, we knew she would be the perfect one to help us. Throughout the pregnancy she answered any and all questions we had. We also did a session or two of individual prenatal yoga which felt really good. During my hospital stay, she was either in contact the entire time or at the hospital with us. She helped us plan our birth preferences and kept us as close to them as possible. Her presence was very calming and I don't think our birth story would have been complete without her. She was amazing at our follow up and all the questions we had afterwards. I would highly recommend her to any family & friends.
Working with Caitlin was amazing! I hired her as my doula pretty early on in my pregnancy, which was so great for us. As a first timer, I had no idea what to expect but she helped us prepare so well. She met with us on numerous occasions to discuss all aspects of the pregnancy, delivery and post partum. She provided us with a lot of educational support when we needed reassurance that we were doing the right thing, or when we were at a crossroads, trying to decide what to do. She was always available via phone when I had silly questions that would pop up in my mind, as they often did through pregnancy.
When it came to labor and delivery, she was a god send. She helped me through my contractions, and she even taught my mom and sister some things they could do to help me. She helped keep the room calm and relaxing for me, and she had this innate way of just bringing peace to the chaos that was labor and delivery. She would suggest new positions for me to labor in, and she would recommend something different when they didn't seem to be helping.
She was also available as a resource post partum. She made a home visit a few days after our baby was born just to check in and see how we were doing. She was also a great resource when it came to recommendations for other services such as placenta encapsulation and a prenatal chiropractor. Any thing I needed help with, she knew the answer.
I would hire Caitlin again in a heart beat. She was professional, helpful, calming and was a great addition to my birth team.
Caitlin was extremely knowledgeable and a great source of information throughout my pregnancy. She provided evidence-based articles whenever I had questions and checked in regularly and after appointments to see how I was doing.
During my labor Caitlin was a calm source of strength and motivation. She supported both my husband and me throughout and had many tools and suggestions to help me keep labor progressing and manage my labor. She was so positive that I never questioned my ability to have a natural unmedicated birth.
This was my third birth and by far the easiest and most enjoyable. I have no doubt that Caitlin's support before, during, and after resulted in the birth experience I have always wanted and an incredibly quick recovery.
The highest praise I can give Caitlin would be to work with her again and I hope that is possible someday in the future.
My husband and I were planning a home birth for the arrival of our little one this past October 2016. We felt very educated and supported - having taken a birth class, and having two very experienced midwifes caring for us. Although we didn't think it was necessary, we explored cost and option of hiring a doula on the strong recommendation of our birth educator. The minute Caitlin answered the phone, I could feel her warmth and gentle presence putting me at ease. She was very open about her work experience, pricing, and explaining how the process works. She was diligent in checking in me during my prenatal period, familiarizing herself with my birth team. Scheduling in person meetings with us to review our birth plan. Come the day of my birth (I was induced) she came early to assist in the initial stages of induction, which was emotionalky draining for me as I had wanted a home birth. She brought snacks, kept me hydrated, and gave me a massage for hours without stopping. My husband insists that Caitlin is the best money ever spent. I encourage every mama to invest in a doula - there is no way you could possibly regret it.
We had a wonderful experience with Caitlin! She was very responsive to our questions and was easily accessible through phone and email. She was consistently ontime to our prenatal appointments and made it to the delivery of our son despite his quick arrival! She was also very moderate in her approach to things and didn't make me feel like there was only one way of doing things. I was hesitant to have a doula because I considered it more "crunchy" than my usual approach to life but I am so glad we chose to have one as she supported us to have confidence. Her information and resources gave me confidence that I could have the baby naturally if I wanted to and her demonstration of counter pressure techniques made my husband feel like there were tasks he could do to support me during labor. She asked good questions that helped my husband and I get on the same page about stuff we didn't even know we weren't on the same page about! During my delivery, I really wanted to be on all fours and the hospital staff wanted me to reposition. Caitlin helped me by asking if it was possible for me to be squatting if I couldn't be on all fours and we were able to have a squat bar put in the bed. She had a gentle but firm and respectul approach with all of the staff and with us. I so appreciate her calm presence and willingness to do whatever we needed to have the best birth experience we could. I would recommend her to friends or family as she supported all of our "birth wishes" and, through information and quality time with us before the delivery, showed us what our options were. Thanks Caitlin!
Caitlin helped us immensely to calm nerves, educate us, and help bring Henry into the world! Our daughter's shoulder got stuck behind my pelvic bone during delivery & her clavicle broke in the process. This situation is known as shoulder dystocia & can be fatal. We were concerned that H might get stuck as well. I'm also a diabetic, so pregnancies are considered high risk. Even though my blood sugars are in tight control, there is still a higher chance of still birth. Because of this, I was induced at 38w with Lily to decrease the risk. H was induced at 37w in hopes to avoid shoulder dystocia. When we met with Caitlin, we discussed our high risk pregnancy, our previous experience, & our fear of the same issue. Caitlin was a great listener, compassionate, & confident in a positive outcome. After meeting with us, she started emailing me articles about shoulder dystocia & suggestions for various positions to use before & during labor. She went above & beyond my expectations to help inform me & prepare me for a vaginal birth. Caitlin also came to our home to teach my husband techniques (pressure, counter pressure, massage, etc.) to help with my pain management. She interacted with my husband in such a way that he felt like he was a part of the team; not an afterthought. Caitlin was prompt & professional at the induction while the staff went over all the protocols for birth & diabetic mothers. During active labor, she was attentive & encouraging. She maintained eye contact, massaged my hands & feet to distract from pain, but the counter pressure on my hips proved to be the most helpful when the contractions were most intense. She'd ask if I'd like to change positions to best help the baby move down the birth canal. I honestly believe it helped speed labor. Active labor only lasted two hours! H was born vaginally & complication free! We are very happy with her & cannot recommend her enough!
