On June 19th, 2016, I delivered my first baby. Getting close to my due date I felt nervous, excited, a bit overwhelmed and anxious. Tara was extremely supportive and resourceful when I experienced changes to my body or feelings that were new and unfamiliar to me. Tara is knowledgable and offers non judgemental and factual support. The day I delivered my baby girl, Tara spent 10 hours with me and my fiancé at the hospital. Her warm and calm demeanour made my delivery that much easier. Tara had a gentle way of motivating us to keep moving, breathing and staying hydrated. I trusted her and felt a great connection with her at some of my most vulnerable moments. She is an amazing lady! I truly believe my labour would not have been as magical, empowering and smooth without her. Tara holds a special place in our hearts and we are extremely grateful we had the opportunity to have her as our doula.
Having Tara as our doula was absolutely phenomenal. The support, expertise, and encouragement she provided for my wife was invaluable. We had Tara as our doula for the birth of our twins and also for the birth of our third child, and I know my wife has said numerous times that she could not imagine having gone through those births without Tara, she is that great. As a husband, I very much appreciated having Tara there to help encourage my wife and to provide us with her expertise, support, and personal connection throughout the process. We would highly, highly recommend Tara to anyone who may be considering working with a doula.
Our midwife suggested we get a doula during the first trimester of my pregnancy. To be honest, my husband was hesitant about having additional people in the room, but he agreed to meet with Tara before we made a decision. We met with Tara for coffee one evening and discussed the benefits of having a doula and what that meant for both my husband and I. That night my husband and I discussed having Tara as our doula on the drive home. We both agreed it was the right choice, and we are very grateful we made that decision.
In addition to Tara being our doula she was our Prentatal Instructor. During the classes we were able to make a connection with Tara and have the opportunity to get to know her better. This made the labour process that much more relaxing, having that relationship established with your support team. Tara made my husband and I feel comfortable during the process. I will always remember having Tara help us to the car and riding the elevator up to Labour and Delivery while my husband parked the car.
To this day my husband recommends having a doula to all our friends who are expecting or even thinking about having children in the future. We are very grateful for the support that Tara provided to our family prior, during and after the delivery of our daughter. She is a kind soul that I would recommend to anyone looking for a doula.
Our First pregnancy was overwhelming to say the least. I didn't even know why I needed prenatal classes or what a doula was or did. It was my husband Adam who convinced me that a prenatal class would allow us to discuss and learn what your Dr or friends and family dont talk about. All those private, intimate and often downright scary things. We attended a 2 day course with Tara instructing, she was very relaxed and open to any conversations as I'm sure she's heard it all. She told me about doulas and how she would help both myself and my husband in all the moments leading up to the birth as well as be with me the entire labour and delivery. She managed to keep myself and my husband rather calm and kept me focused. Tara would offer to use pressure on my back, help me breath through contractions when I was getting lost in the experience as well as give Adam direction and help to keep him calm. She was AmaziNG!! The entire time I was in labour and delivery she was there cheering me on. She even tooK those precious first pictures right after me daughter Ember was born...I could go on and on singing her praises!
When we found out we were expecting our second baby Tara was there to cheer me on again. Parkers birth seemed to go faster and I was very comfortable having her with me Tara seemed to know what i needed before I even knew.
She even researched on my behalf when I was told I had gestational diabetes. I was so scared about my unborn babys health and well being.
There is this amazing calmness about her presence, like a friend that you meet and immediately know this is someone you want in your corner.
