As a mom of many, I did not understand the true value of a doula until I met Belinda. She was recently at my fifth child's birth. She was my advocate when the medical team pushed for things not on my birth plan, she was there to comfort me for the pain, ànd even went as far as to take pictures. She tried different positions I had not tried in my 4 previous births and asked me about what Is going on needed throughout the birth. On top of meeting my needs, she ensured that my 4 children were safe and did not see of the pushing. I will always be grateful for this experience as I have no family in the area and very few trusted friends. Grateful,Thankful, and blessed is how I feel for the day Belinda was there for me.
Belinda was my birth doula for my second baby, first home birth. My first birth was traumatic and in a hospital. I had planned to give birth in the hospital again, and knew I wanted a doula to help my experience be more like what I wanted. I met Belinda and hired her knowing she would serve me well. Later in my pregnancy, I switched to a home birth around week 36. She was very supportive of the decision and helped guide me to what I wanted. At my birth, Belinda helped with so much, from my son to setting up to snacks to counter pressure to affirmations and everything in between. I am so glad I had Belinda at my birth and I truly don't think the outcome would have been as positive without her there.
My husband and I found out we were pregnant with my first child in July 2014. I immediately knew I wanted the most non-medicalized birth possible, while still being smart and safe. I begged my husband for us to hire a doula. A friend of mine recommended Belinda to us so I contacted her. She came to our house several times while I was pregnant for meetings and to get more familiar/comfortable with each other. She met us at a local park to walk while I was in the very beginning stages of labor. I stayed in close contact with her for about 48 hours before I felt it was time to head to the hospital. She was easy to contact and gave me quick and thorough responses. She arived at the hospital about an hour after my husband called for her. She stayed over 24+ hours with us there at the hospital. My birth unexpectedly resulted in a c-section and she was great through that. Afterwards she stayed in recovery with us and helped me breastfeed. My husband and I both appreciate her support before, during and after my baby's delivery. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Belinda was amazing! I was a 25 year old going for a VBAC with my second pregnancy. She was well informed, kind, friendly and completely supportive. After contacting 10 doulas and personally interviewing three, my husnand and I decided Belinda was the right match for our family. She understood our sense of humor, was playful with our two year old, understood our fears with the VBAC and what we needed of her. She helped keep me calm and focused, helped me laugh to relieve tension, helped me switch positions, and everything else a doula should do. We definitely will be using her for our next birth.
In 2014 I found out I was pregnant with my second child and hopeful for a VBAC. I knew I wanted a Doula to help me in achieving this goal and started my search early. After many meetings with other Doulas, Belinda was recommended to me. We met and "clicked" right away. We talked about my hopes for birth and made a plan to express my wishes. On the day I went into labor she came as soon as possible to help ramp up the contractions and time them for me. When it was time to go to the hospital she very kindly drove me as my husband and older child weren't feeling well. She helped me work through the contractions and reminded me to stay hydrated. Her presence was a welcome relief and helped me achieve the birth I so desperately hoped for. Belinda is very kind and soft spoken, she knew what I needed before I did making it easier for me to focus on laboring without having to put words together.
