We cannot recommend Linsday highly enough. We both felt so at ease with her from our first meeting, and so supported. Months before my due date, Lindsay met with us and showed me exercises to help me to prepare for childbirth, and to help me to get our breech baby to turn. She also took the time to patiently and thoroughly address all our questions, and she went over the landscape of choices available to us. She is incredibly open and generous, and also strong, patient, steady and knowledgeable, and such a wonderfully reassuring presence in the room. My husband says, "She made me feel so comfortable and useful in the hospital room, and helped to prepare us for the experience months beforehand." It's hard to describe how profoundly we were affected by the birth of our son, and I will never forget that day--I credit Lindsay with giving me the confidence I needed in my body and trust in the process of birth to stay at home for the early part of my labor, where I felt relaxed and joyful. When we got to the hospital, Lindsay was present with me and with my husband for hours, an unfailing source of energy and kindness and a keen-eyed interpreter for us of what was happening medically. She was a lifeline when things became more difficult for me during the pushing stage; I leaned on her experience and she was so in tune with what we needed at every step of the way. A friend of mine, who recommended Lindsay to us, told me, "She has a special gift," and we agree! She is a luminous person. I felt so connected both to Lindsay and to my husband during the hours leading up to his birth. I had a spontaneous labor and delivered without pain medications or augmentations, and I credit Lindsay with giving me the strength and the courage I needed at critical moments to have a beautiful, safe, happy, empowering birth. Thank you, Lindsay!!
We would highly recommend Lindsay to families looking for a doula! We hired her for our first pregnancy and from the beginning we were impressed by her broad knowledge about different aspects of the birthing process, her ease with coaching and helping us to define what we wanted from the experience, and the passion she clearly has for her work. She was great about being completely supportive and informative for the individual choices we made for our birth plan, but we also appreciated her giving her honest opinions about certain things if we weren't sure.
We delivered at Good Samaritan Hospital, but I wanted an unmedicated birth for our daughter (born November 2016). When my labor ended up lasting over 20 hours, Lindsay was fantastic about offering different techniques or positions to get through it the way I'd intended. We appreciated too her taking the time for a post partum visit, where she answered more of our questions and helped me process the whole experience (since it becomes a blur so quickly!). In short, Lindsay is an excellent doula, and very highly recommended!
Lindsay is a lovely person and truly gifted as a doula. We felt comfortable with her immediately because of her open, calm, confident, and relaxed demeanor. When the time came for me to have my son, her assistance was truly invaluable; I'm certain that I would not have been able to have the natural labor I'd planned for without her help. She seemed to know exactly what I needed at every moment, and she was able to help ease my pain and give me the confidence, focus, and strength to keep going when I didn't think I could. She also gave my husband confidence in helping me, as well as a couple much-needed breaks. I feel incredibly grateful to Lindsay, and so lucky that she was our doula. I really can't recommend her highly enough. She is magical!
