Babied Doula Services

Phone: 208-869-6248

Birth Fee: $700

Postpartum Rate: $25 to $30

Fee Details: As a mom to four nearly-grown children, I now look forward to supporting new parents as they navigate their ideal birth and postpartum experiences. I embrace the belief that pregnancy and birth are normal life experiences. Studies have shown that a woman-centered birth approach reduces the incidence of birth injury, trauma, and cesarean section. My Birth Doula services include an initial consultation, one prenatal appointment, and two postpartum visits. Typically, I require half fees at contract and the balance at 38 weeks. As a Postpartum Doula, my primary responsibility is helping mom with her new baby. Additionally, I will happily support dad/partner baby-bonding, assist with light-housekeeping, meal prep, and accompanying mom and baby to well-baby check-ups. I also provide nighttime relief so that new parents can obtain much needed uninterrupted sleep.

We hired Kathy to assist us in our third birth. Our first hoop racing experiences were not what we had hoped and thought that adding a doula would help us have the birth experience we were hoping for. My only regret is that I did not hire Doula with my first two births. Kathy was absolutely incredible. She stayed in touch throughout my entire pregnancy and was always there to give her advice at the end. We were actually supposed to induce the day after I went into labor. But the morning before I was having contractions and contacted Kathy. She gave me advice and quickly met me at the hospital. My labor was everything I had hoped for and more. She was so in tune with everything that was happening that I never had to ask for anything. She could always tell when my contractions were starting and was right there to help with the pain. And any time things were getting hard she would pick up on that and suggest new things to try. It was amazing to see her work as a team with my husband and show him things to do to be supportive. I cannot speak highly enough of her. I'm so glad I am able to look back on that birth as such a beautiful empowering time. I have already been singing her praises to all of my friends and strongly recommend anyone who is considering getting a doula to reach out to her. I know I would not have had the same experience without her.

My wife had interviewed several doulas before she finally met with Kathy, but once she did it was an immediate connection and I could tell by the enthusiasm in my wife's voice that we had found the doula for us.  We were initially planning a home birth, but close to the 27th hour of labor we had to transfer to the hospital due to exhaustion.  From the very first hours of labor until a few hours past our son was born (roughly 32 hours), Kathy was there every second. She coached us, and allowed me to be the best husband I could be, guiding me on what to do every step of the way while also helpinng my wife with what she was going through.  Kathy makes you the best husband you can be to a wife in labor, and for that I cannot recommend her more.  She still keeps in touch with us and visited after our son was born.  A few hours after our son was born (and after my body shut down and forced me to sleep for a few hours), I broke down and sent this cathartic text to Kathy which I feel encapsulates how wonderful she is:

"I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate everything you did for Mady and I the past couple days. I truly was floored by everything that you did for us and helped us through. I know that our ideal birth was compromised, but the end result was worth editing our expectations. You helped Mady and me through our best and our worst and I just can't express to you how much it means to me. I want to say thank you for being our doula, and thank you for helping us bring our son into the world. I can't say it enough, but you really held this whole experience together for us, even though it got pretty rough.
So, I guess what I'm trying to say overall is just thank you. You made this birthing experience unforgettable."

Thanks again, Kathy! You will be on speed dial when we have baby number 2!

To put it in a word, Kathy was AMAZING. From our first meeting, I understood how kind, warm and friendly she was. She's so passionate about her work and it shows. I instantly knew I had to hire her as my doula. Throughout my pregnancy, she attended several appointments and met with us at our home to talk about comfort measures and get to know my husband and I a little more. She was always very quick to reach  via text, call or email. She always had advice for me during my pregnancy and I really appreciated it as a young, first time mom, not knowing what to expect! I planned a homebirth and ended up transferring to the hospital, but Kathy endured all 32 hours with me with a smile. She was there to support me via text in the early stages and was by our side for nearly 24 hours. She was an extremely calming presence and continually made sure both my husband and I were nourished and well-rested. She has magic hands, and provided so much relief for me during contractions and made me feel like a rockstar. We truly couldn't have done it without her and will 100% hire her with our next baby! If you are thinking that you already have your spouse, mom, etc there to support you during the birth and you can't see yourself benefitting from a doula, you're wrong! She was able to keep my family relaxed and taken care of that made them more able to focus on the moment. My husband and I experienced a connection that was out of this world during my labor as he supported me too, but Kathy made that all possible and helped him help me. She has checked in on me several times postpartum and feels like family! We will never forget her and how incredible she made the birth of our son and we are so lucky that we found her. Nothing negative to say and can't wait to have her as my doula again the future!

I had my first baby in October, and hired Kathy to be my doula back in February (I think). She was amazing through the entire process! She checked in at least once a month in the beginning, always offering suggestions for the stage I was in. Towards the end of my pregnancy she attended a few appointments and took notes everytime (which I loved). I chose to have a hospital birth, mainly because of a tragic loss in the family during a home birth. I wanted the security of being in the hospital in case of an emergency. However, my goal was a natural birth and I know that sometimes hospitals have difference agendas. In addition, my husband was very uneducated about the birthing process (he had his EMT, so knew the emergency on the side of the highway side, but not a peaceful birth side). I was hoping that by having a doula I would feel supported by her and that she could help coach my husband on how to best support me. Kathy did just that. My labor ended up being 31 hours and was not what I had imagined, but I have no complaints! Kathy was there the entire time (probably slept 2 hours or less) and helped both my husband and I tremendously. My husband is not easy to win over, but Kathy won him over easily! He, especially, could not stop raving about how helpful she was to him! Kathy is serious about the work she does. I had at least 8 hours of terrible back labor, and she was there putting her whole body into massaging my back the entire time. In addition, she made sure I was eating and drinking, giving me ice in between contractions and her massaging, she kept the essential oils going (per my request), and was so encouraging throughout each contraction. I really could go on for days about everything she did, but there is a 2000 word limit, so I have to stop now. I would be happy to answer any more questions or just rave about her to anyone that is not convinced yet. Thank you Kathy for everything!!

Kathy was my labor doula. My husband and I were so blessed to have her by our side during the birth of our son.

In the weeks leading up to my due date she attended  a couple of midwife appointments with us and also came out to our apartment to talk over how we envisioned our birth going, and  to talk pain management techniques. Her warmth and openness put both my husband and I at ease right away.

Throughout labor she was a soft, calming presence. My husband wanted to be and was very involved in the whole process. She was able to coach him on ways that he could help me. We both loved the way that she left us work together as a couple but was always there being so encouraging and calm. Her back massages are the best!

During the actual birth she stopped and snapped a couple of pictures for us. Pictures that we will cherish for ever.

Kathy also came out to our house after the birth just to check that everything was well. She also was a huge help with some breastfeeding trouble that in was having.

I could not have asked for a better birth experience. As a first time mom it was beautiful and empowering. I truly think that Kathy played a large role in our successful birth and I would love to have her at any subsequent births.  Thank you so much Kathy.

Kathy was a post partum doula for me.  She is fantastic!  She helped me adjust, offered insightful suggestions and advice, and was a helping hand. Kathy is intuitive and willing to see what you need and facilitate it.  She has a personality where by the first afternoon I was completely comfortable with her and felt like I had a long-term friend or family member with me.  She was a great support, and still reaches out.  I would recommend her to anyone!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Kathy. She is kind, warm, supportive, knowledgeable, compassionate, and obviously loves what she does! Kathy provided postpartum doula services for me for around 6 weeks after the birth of my son. I was immediately comfortable with her being with my little one, so I felt I could take a walk to just to get out of the house right away. She is extremely knowledgeable about all things newborn, from her training and also her own personal experience, and anything she didn't know, she contacted someone to find out. We are relatively new to the area so the fact that she has been in this community for a while and knows about different services and different providers was very helpful. One of the most above and beyond things she did was she communicated frequently with my lactation consultant while helping me with some issues I had with nursing. She also checked in on me periodically on her own time (and still does a month later) which made me feel supported and let me know she was working on helping me even while not at my home. I am a first time mom so I don't have much of a reference point other than to say my transition to motherhood seemed to be less stressful than for some other new moms I know and I believe this has a lot to do with having that extra support that Kathy provided!! We miss her and I recommend her as a doula wholeheartedly!!
