As my wife and I progressed through our Birth and Babies classes, I was struck by how little I had previously known about labour. I had assumed that it was something that largely took place in the hospital, so it was daunting to realize how much of the process happened at home by ourselves! With our due date looming, I felt increasingly anxious about whether I would be able to provide the support my wife needed. I was proud of how I'd reacted in past emergency situations, but would this be the same? I'm not always the best around blood; would I be squeamish? Was I a liability? What if everything went sideways?

Our instructor was highly supportive of seeking out a doula, which was not an option we had thought to consider beforehand. Natalie clicked with us right away. Her science-based approach was incredibly reassuring and she made sure our expectations on everything were aligned early on; we were very flexible and so was she.

She walked us through early labour remotely and came to our home in the middle of the night. It was wonderful how effortlessly she dovetailed into the support I was providing, and not once did I feel shut out; it was a team effort throughout. I can say that as the partner, being included in everything I could be felt extremely helpful. She also regularly checked in on me to see how I was coping, which I had not expected, but that support was so appreciated. In the hospital, the added support was lovely.

Natalie's presence throughout labour, in the hospital and beyond to post-natal follow-ups was a steadfast reassurance. Her confidence and calm demeanour was certainly contagious and exactly what we needed and hoped for.

I never thought I'd have a Doula. I had certain preconceptions about Doulas that I thought were very opposite to my beliefs. But as my due date grew closer, I started to get nervous about only having my husband present during labour and delivery. Neither of us has been through this before. Would we remember everything we had been learning about labour? What if we both needed help to get through this? Just a few weeks before my due date I was talking to our birthing class instructor and she suggested we get a Doula to offer extra support.

After meeting a few Doulas, Natalie was the obvious choice. We got along very well; she had a strong belief in evidence-based practices; she had a sense of humour; she had lots of experience and confidence in her ability to help both me and my husband through the labour and delivery of our first child; she was also a lactation consultant. Luckily, she was available on such short notice!

For the next two weeks, she kept in touch via text. When my contractions started, she helped us to cope with it by ourselves as long as we could before coming over in the middle of the night to lend a hand. She was invaluable to have when making the decision about when to go to the hospital (we would have gone way too early without her) and she supported both of us mentally and physically during my labour.

After the birth, she sent us some beautiful pictures she had taken along with our birth story. I enjoyed this more than I had expected! Everything happened so fast, I had already forgotten some details even just a few days later. She also made a postpartum visit which was immensely helpful. She supported me after a very hard day with her empathy while offering a stable presence to prevent me from spiralling with anxious and depressing thoughts.

I would highly recommend Natalie to anyone who feels they need extra support. Her experience, humour, intellect, and kindness helped us through.

It was by complete chance that we met Natalie and I still consider it one of the biggest blessings to happen to our family. She helped us during my second pregnancy and made sure she was there to support, guide and encourage me along the way throughout the whole experience and even after birth. She would check in every now and then to see how things were going, see how I was feeling and offer any support if I needed it. She helped us ensure we had a birth plan that matched our wants and needs; we didn't have to worry at the hospital because we knew she had our back.

She was with me every step of the way during labor and delivery. I delivered our son naturally with nothing but laughing gas, and I will never forget a critical moment: I was ready to deliver but told I couldn't start pushing yet and I thought I was going to die. I'm normally a very focused and strong person but I completely lost my will and started giving up: I couldn't see straight, I started becoming hysterical, I was hyperventilating, the pain was unimaginable and I didn't think I was going to be able to go through with delivering my baby drug free. If Natalie hadn't been there to snap me out of it, to help cut through the hell that I was going through and bring my focus back, I am certain I wouldn't have delivered drug free. She really helped me survive the whole birthing experience; she was also there after to help me with my breastfeeding challenges. She always answered any questions and gave me the support I needed during the early stages of my breastfeeding journey.

We will definitely be looking to have her with us for any other children we may have, and we will always recommend her to our friends and family. My little brother and his new wife are expecting, but live in Edmonton, and she was even kind enough to reach out to them and help them with finding a doula. I am so grateful she was with us during the whole experience and can't recommend her enough.

We initially met Natalie as our ‘back-up doula’ in case baby came while our doula was away. We were immediately comfortable with her and felt in good hands no matter which doula was there for us on the big day. When our induction was scheduled it became clear Natalie would be stepping in.

Natalie wasted no time in connecting with us and arrived at the hospital before we even had a room. She was kind, calm and professional while we got acquainted and didn’t leave our side for the long ~20 ish hours leading to the birth. Natalie was a huge support as we navigated the an evolving birthing process, changing hospital staff and a stubborn baby. She was there with counter-pressure, tens machine operation, positioning and massage as well as providing coaching and support for my husband along the way - we are both grateful.
Not only was Natalie a great support, she also took beautiful and tasteful photos of the day and summarized the sequence of events in a birth story we can share with our son when he’s older. Thank you Natalie for stepping in and being our doula!

Natalie supported me through the birth of my daughter in December 2018. Natalie made herself available to chat anytime and was instrumental for my mental health in the month leading up to my due date by answering many questions and asking me how I was feeling as events unfolded.
We appreciated how Natalie helped educate us prior to labour and delivery about all of our options and things that might happen at the hospital. Through formal meetings and casual text convos, we felt informed and able to advocate for what we wanted day of.
The day I went into labour, Natalie spent the entire day with us without complaint. She helped ease my anxiety about when to go to the hospital and it allowed me to labour in the comfort of our home much longer than had I been alone. She stepped back and allowed for my husband to help early on, paying attention to what was happening and asking questions to assess the situation. She was knowledgeable in how to help labour progress and how to cope through pain.
During active labour, Natalie was supportive of my decisions and adapted her coaching style when it was needed. She checked in with my husband regularly, and worked respectfully and collaboratively with the doctors and nurses.
After delivery, Natalie helped me to latch my daughter and breastfeed for the first time. Her experience in this area was so beneficial, I feel like I couldn’t have done it without her.

Natalie was such an important part of my pregnancy, labour, and early days with my first baby.  She checked in regularly with me during my pregnancy, asking if I had any questions or concerns, and was always there to reassure me if something was "normal" and help me navigate early labour symptoms.  She was invaluable to have during an intense and long labour.  She had my best interests and my wishes in the forefront of her care.  Natalie supported my husband during the several day-long labour process, and helped me to understand the medical care that the nurses and doctors were offering, in the moment.  I always felt like I was her first priority during my on-call period with her, and she was happy to come and check on me at my house when I was first experiencing contractions.  The beautiful birth story Natalie wrote and photos that she captured will be treasured forever.

I have had Natalie attend the births of both of my children. The first was an unplanned home birth and the second was a planned water birth at home (with my first child present). Both births were completely different, and both times I found Natalie to be extremely valuable to me. She is comfortable in joining you at whatever stage of labour you feel you need her, and she made me and my support people feel comfortable around her. She offers information that is relevant and useful, and respects your feelings and decisions throughout the pregnancy and the labour. The physical support helped me cope with each contraction, one at a time. Her verbal cues helped me cope with any mental anxiety that arose during labour. The photos and the birth story she provides afterwards are beautiful gifts that our family cherishes. I would highly recommend Natalie to anyone considering a doula because I feel she has the knowledge, the experience and the right kind of personality to honour you and your partner though the process of childbirth.

Natalie was our doula for the birth of our first and second babies. After using her for the birth of our daughter it was such a wonderful experience that I would never even consider having another baby without her support! Natalie was available to us throughout the prenatal period, during the birth and postpartum - there to answer any questions we had along the way and support us. With both her hands on and emotional support during both labor and deliveries I was able to successfully deliver both my babies naturally and I found Natalie to be an incredible coach to my husband to enable him to support me as well. She worked easily alongside our midwives as a part of the team! She is a wealth of knowledge and information but also so genuine in her approach through the whole process. I truly believe I would have needed to use drugs or other interventions to have my babies if she was not there. She always had the next strategy ready for me to keep going until the end. I cannot thank Natalie enough for her love and devotion bringing our babies into this world- any family would be lucky to have her on their journey??

Natalie is fantastic! We hired her to be our Doula for our first baby and couldn't have been happier. She is calm, grounded, knowledgeable, attentive, and has a good sense of humour. She was the one person in the room that I focused on (and listened to!) during labour as there were so many different staff in and out. My partner also really appreciated having her support so that he didn't have to worry as much and could just enjoy the birth. Having Natalie there definitely helped us achieve our birthing goals. Her pre- and post- care were also very helpful and reassuring. We will definitely ask her to be our Doula again if we have another baby.

Natalie was an incredible support to me and my husband from prenatal all the way through to post natal. We had not initially planned to use a doula but at the suggestion of our midwives decided to meet with Natalie a few weeks prior to our due date. She was both professional and personable and after our initial meeting it was a no brainer to ask for her services. She helped us refine our wishes for how the labor and delivery would go and was incredibly client-centered throughout! During the labor and delivery Natalie worked tirelessly and fluidly to support me and my husband and collaborate with the midwives. With her different suggestions and ideas for positioning and moving, her vast knowledge, and her loving hands and heart she enabled me to successfully labor at home for as long as possible before transitioning to the hospital where she continued to assist. I would not have been able to have the birth I did without her support. I also really appreciated how she coached my husband to help me which made him a much more active member of the labor and delivery than I ever would have imagined. Her post natal care was also exceptional and the birth story she shared with us will be treasured always! Natalie truly has a gift for supporting families to bring their little ones into the world - I would recommend her services to anyone and everyone and would not even consider having another baby without her! Thank you Natalie! With love, Justine, Danny & Emma Greene ??

I had a very positive experience with Natalie as my doula. As a first time mom-to-be, she met me where I was at and walked me through the many questions I had about the pregnancy and stages of labour and birth. It was clear that she had a passion for the subject and it was that, along with her knowledge and patience, that eased my mind at that time. She especially helped me to go with the flow, and to know that things might not go as planned but that it would all work out and be okay no matter what.  When Natalie joined us for the labor, she had such respect for the sacred space of our home. Her presence was calm and non-intrusive. The physical support she provided during labor helped me immensely and verbal cues made me feel safe, capable and supported throughout what was a fast and intense labour. When our baby boy made his arrival, I felt that Natalie shared in our joyful moment while still remaining a professional. I would absolutely recommend her services. She has the passion and the stong, supoortive personality that makes her great at what she does.

Natalie was our doula for our first born. There was a chance my husband was not going to be back in time so we wanted to make sure I had someone there. My husband luckily was home for the birth so Natalie was there to keep us both calm! She was there every step of the way from the early stages of labour to the very end to cut the umbilical cord. She is extremely professional, kind and caring. I knew that Natalie's heart was in her calling to be a doula so I was never worried. I can honestly say we could not have done it without her! I will definitely be calling on Natalie for the birth of our second when it happens!
