We feel incredibly blessed to have worked with Lauren from The Birth Boutique as we prepared for the birth of our second child. I had a c-section with our first daughter and we were hoping for a vbac with our second. While we ended up welcoming our second daughter via c-section, Lauren was instrumental in helping us prepare for birth this time around. Lauren listened to our needs and desires and helped us make every decision based on what we wanted instead of pushing her own agenda. We felt heard and validated during the entire process. She encouraged us and help us advocate for our wants with my OBGYN which allowed us an extra week to go into labor naturally before the scheduled c-section and skin to skin immediately following our c-section. While we didn't get to experience a vbac, we had an incredible experience throughout pregnancy and delivery and much of that can be credited to Lauren.
After some searching for the right fit, I found The Birth Boutique who helped set a positive foundation for my post partum journey - a journey that likely would've been quite different had I not found them. I realized shortly after family left and husband went back to work that I needed an extra set of hands. What I didn't realize at the time was the emotional support I also needed just having a newborn and being home alone with him all day. Lauren was extremely accomodating in meeting me via FaceTime to ensure it'd be the right fit. She was incredibly open and flexible (as her scheudle allowed at that point) to start ASAP and come twice a week for 3 hours each. On days when she couldn't come, she proactively provided backup so I was never left hanging. Just having Lauren in my home calmed me...someone to talk to, bounce ideas off of, learn from, care for my newborn, allow me to nap, eat, get out of the house and have some 'me' time. She took care of me just as much as she took care of my child. I'd never heard of a "postpartum doula" before, so this was all new to me. I would absolutely recommend The Birth Boutique (and have already!) to anyone looking for that extra support and care in the precious and often overwhelming few weeks after birth.
I couldn’t have been more thankful to have Jen at my birth. It was so easy and comfortable to interact with her during the prenatal visits and I couldn’t have survived labor without her. She knew exactly what to do and what to say to help me have a smooth home birth. Thanks again Jen!!!
I met Jen and Lauren from The Birth Boutique at a community baby shower they were participating at Roots Family Chiropractic. My partner and I were looking for a doula for our home birth. We set up an free consultation and met with Jen and Lauren. They both covered a lot of information on how they can help us during my pregnancy, labor, and birth. We had a connection with them, as they are both very knowledgeable, sweet, and spoke in a calm voice. I loved these qualities in them, as I was looking to have a calm, safe, and beautiful experience during my home birth. We loved them so much that we did not even interview other doulas; they were perfect for us! Before birth they visited us at home two times and covered information on how to prepare for labor and birth. Throughout the pregnancy they gave me several resources to help maintain a healthy and happy pregnancy. My labor started at around 2 am and I texted Jen and Lauren. My labor was progressing quickly so Jen came over to assist me. contractions were flying by as Jen was guiding me on how to breathe through them and offering encouraging words. She was also great at offering comfort after I got in the birth tub and while we waited for my midwife to arrive. She constantly massaged me with lavender oil and kept me hydrated, which was very soothing during active labor.
I truly didn't even realize how fast things progressed and by 9:51 am, I had my baby in my arms. Jen stayed for a few more hours after baby was born and helped us settle in. My partner and I are very grateful that we had Jen during my birth. She was able to provide me with all the support I needed so my partner could enjoy the whole birth process stress free. She was also a great support postpartum and visited us a few weeks after. I highly recommend The Birth Boutique for doula services and assure you that they will provide you with a peaceful and calm birth!
We would hire Lindsey again in a heartbeat. And that's saying something, because our kid arrived so fast that Lindsey couldn't be there for the actual birth!
The longer story: From our first email and meeting, Lindsey was thorough, professional, and observant. As a doula, she explained, she wouldn't be there to advocate FOR us; rather she'd help us advocate for ourselves and make informed decisions. She didn't rush us through the initial meeting the way others did; we got to share in detail what we were nervous, excited, and not-quite-in-agreement about. We also liked that she takes on so few clients a month.
With the Arlo package, the care and listening extended consistently into our at-home sessions, where Lindsey talked us through labor, tips for pain management, etc. She also brought Jen along so we could meet our alternate doula just in case.
On the big day, Lindsey offered valuable coaching all morning by phone, I ate and rested, and we agreed to meet at the hospital. But then I had an unusual first-time labor: active labor went VERY quickly. My water broke in the car, the pain escalated fast, and by triage it was time to push. Lindsey arrived just after the baby did and we were so glad to see her! She held my hand while I had stitches, made sure I ate, and stayed for hours. She kept in touch over the following week, giving us both space and support. And at our postpartum visit she even generously included an in-home photo shoot since she wasn't able to be with us for the birth itself.
Lindsey helped us feel more prepared for a situation you can never be 100% prepared for. And since birth parents typically get just one follow-up doctor appointment six weeks later, I'm extra thankful to still be in touch with such an affirming, supportive caregiver who takes my experience seriously. For so many reasons, we're grateful that she was such an integral part of our birth story! - Julia S.
Our road to parenthood was long, winding and difficult. When we were blessed with a positive pregnancy test I knew right away I wanted to build a support team around us. We interviewed a couple doulas and once we met Lindsey we knew she was “the one”. She was empathic, knowledgeable and generous.
She was available throughout my pregnancy to answer any and all questions, and believe me, I had plenty. With her we created a birth plan that was right for us. Pregnancy and birth are such a unique experience and she is like the wise women in your tribe that you can go to with anything. She was so helpful, encouraging and supportive to us thru what felt like such a foreign experience.
Lindsey was invaluable throughout my pregnancy, however, the night of my birth she was vital. She was a calm guide thru the most intimate experience of our lives. She helped physically with pain management techniques and massage. Emotionally, Lindsey helped me feel cared for, safe and empowered. I have such positive birth memories and I attribute so much of this to our work with Lindsey. The photos she took during our delivery are truly priceless. I look at them everyday. As the time passes I’m beginning to forget that joy, however, the photos bring me back to all of the powerful emotions of that day.
Lindsey helped my husband feel confident and comfortable. She provided guidance, affirmation and reassurance to help him assist me. This is the most profound experience I’ve ever had and I’m so grateful that we had Lindsey by our side. My only regret is that I didn’t ask for a post-partum doula for my shower. This is the gift I want to get EVERY pregnant women that I know. I can’t wait to work with Lindsey again in the future (fingers crossed). She will be my first call should we be blessed with another pregnancy.
My husband and I loved working with Jen and Lindsay from the Birth Boutique. Right from the very beginning they were warm and welcoming and always available via text or cell. They were able to answer all my questions and gave advice throughout my pregnancy. I liked the fact that I was able to build a relationship with both doulas so I felt comfortable with whoever was going to be present at my birth. The day, or should I say days, of my birth I worked with Jen and was so happy with the support I received over the phone while laboring, at the hospital, and after my birth. She provided whatever kind of support I wanted, whether I wanted her to come to my house or meet me at the hospital, and gave great coaching through each contraction and stage of my labor/delivery. I would highly recommend the birth boutique! Whether you want to go the natural route or not, it was so helpful to have someone constantly with you throughout the process who could coach you, give you guidance, and most importantly offer you support!
From the first meeting with Lindsey and Lauren, we knew we were in the best hands. We had two prenatal visits with them at our house which were extremely useful in helping us prepare for labor. I believe they are the reason I was able to labor at home as long as I did!
Lauren was the doula on call when the time came. She was in regular phone contact while I was laboring at home and advised us to go to the hospital at the exact right time. She met us there (at 2:30am!) and stayed until well after Leo was born. Her expertise, guidance, and calm encouragement helped me tremendously - not to mention her strengh in holding my legs up while I pushed :) She also helped my husband to feel empowered and excited, which made my birth experience the best ever!
After Leo's birth, she stayed in close touch and came over again to check in on us. Weeks later, I don't hesitate to contact her with any random quesion or to share the latest cute picture of my son. I am so grateful for the Birth Boutique and can't reccommend them highly enough!
Thanks to The Birth Boutique, I had an empowering, safe and successful VBAC. I worked with Jen and Lauren leading up to the big day, but Lauren ended up being oncall for my birth. She was amazing, a serious rockstar superhero who gave me the support and confidence to get through the twists and turns of giving birth. When things didnt 'go my way' she quickly helped me come to terms with this, the plan may have changed, but in the end I got my VBAC and its really all thanks to her. She was supportive of my whole birthing team including my mom and husband, they both adore her! If your considering a doula and especially if you're going to have a VBAC, I simply cannot recommened The Birth Boutique enough.
Having Lauren as my doula made a huge impact on my pregnancy, labor and post-partum experience. Lauren gave me the confidence, support and strength I needed as a first time mom. She worked closely with us to provide my husband and I with the guidance to have the birth experience we had always hoped for. I honestly don’t know how we would’ve done it without her. She knew exactly what to say and do and kept us both so calm. The entire experience was so empowering because of the enviornment that Lauren created.
Lauren was also extremely helpful throughout my pregnancy to answer my questions and provide suggestions as we approached various hurdles or needed recommendations for all things pregnancy and baby related! There are so many decisions and options that come about during pregnancy and having Lauren as our go to resource who we knew we could trust and provide us real answers was so reassuring. All of her advice was spot on! I am so happy that we found her early on in the pregancy.
Lauren has a very calm and loving demeanor and brings so much positivity to any situation. You will connect with her instantly! I am so thankful to have had Lauren as part of our birthing team and to help us welcome our first baby into this world and become parents. Can’t wait to work with her again when it’s time for baby #2!
The Birth Boutique was the perfect addition to our birth team. Not only are they professional, but they are kind, genuine women who treat their clients like family members. Their love for what they do definitely shines through in everything they do! Lauren was my doula, I greatly appreciate her close communication with me prior to, during, and post birth. I'm not sure of any other birth provider who is willing to respond so promptly at all hours of the day! Her calm demeanor, encouraging words, sweet personality, and variety in pain management techniques helped me achieve the birth of my desires, and for that I am extremely thankful. Having a doula not only helped create a calm and effective birth environment for me, but also for my husband. I truly believe in creating a birth team that believes in you, respects your birth wishes, and helps safely guide you into the direction you choose for birth- and that is exactly what Lauren and the Birth Boutique did! I highly recommend the Birth Boutique.
Working with Jen from the Birth Boutique was one of the best decisions I made during my pregnancy. I labored for 24 hours (with 5 solid hours of pushing) with my son and there is no way I could have gotten through it without Jen's incredible support and encouragement. Jen helped create a relaxed atmosphere in the birthing suite and prepared me with techniques and positions to labor through hours of contractions. Her judgment free mentality meant that when I had to deviate from my birth plan she was there to cheer me on and help me adapt with ease and grace. The Birth Boutique is an important part of our son's birth story and I'm so honored to have shared that experience with Jen.
We had an incredibly positive experience with Lindsey from The Birth Boutique. She was recommended to us from a friend and immediately upon meeting her we felt she was the calming presence we wanted to educate us and stand by us during the birth. She was very knowledgeable and patient. It was extremely helpful, from both of our perspectives, to have Lindsey's counsel and advice. During the birth, she was right on the mark with her suggestions. Right when we were worried that things would stall and we wanted to be up and moving, Lindsey suggested taking a rest instead and boy did that actually get things moving! Her intuition was invaluable. She was the perfect coach the whole labor through and held my leg upright in the most comfortable position for several hours! Her positive spirit and calm, gentle demeanor were exactly what we needed. A few weeks after the birth, we had her over to take newborn and family photos and they turned out amazingly. She is a true creative professional and we would highly recommend her services.

I struggle with anxiety so I knew having a doula to support me during my pregnancy and labor would be important. I asked Lindsey from the Birth Boutique to be by my side and I could not have been more blown away. She was incredible- she listened to my fears, reassured me, empowered me, and gave me so much confidence. The conversations I was able to have with her by phone, text and in person calmed my anxiety and gave me so much confidence. During my labor, her calm and quiet presence radiated, and after my son was born she captured so many precious photos of those first few moments (sidenote: this was so, so special for my mom to be able to see as she desperately wanted to be present at my birth but lives states away- this was a huge gift to us and our families). Lindsey also stayed by my side those first few hours to offer support and guidance for breastfeeding. She checked in with us over the next few days, and when my postpartum anxiety/depression kicked in she was still there for me. We asked her to help as a postpartum doula and she honestly saved me. Having anxiety, I was fully aware that I was more prone to suffer from postpartum, but I wasn’t prepared for how it would actually be. I felt like I was drowning and on a roller coaster ride all at the same time. Lindsey continued to support me in the most compassionate and gentle way. She helped take care of my son, helped with light errands and cleaning, cooked meals, let me nap, allowed me to process my feelings… I choke up when I think of those early days and how she took me by the hand and helped me know that I was fully capable and fully supported. If you are searching for a doula, look no further as you have found a gem in Lindsey and the Birth Boutique.
We did not have a great birth experience with our first child, so we were truly looking for someone who would provide support, consistency, and information with which to advocate in our second birth. We were going for a VBAC so again needed a doula who had experience in this unique kind of birth, and travel down the path of learning about our specific birth wishes. Lindsey was all of those things. We greatly benefitted from our meetings before hand where she was a true listener, and helped us to focus on what our main goals were at this birth. She helped me specifically pinpoint calming techniques when anticipating what could happen, and which helped in general during the pregnancy. Most importantly I think, she provided us with the peace of mind of knowing we had someone awesome in our corner. I got my VBAC, and the birth of my second child was incredibly empowering, healing, and just plain wonderful. I'm so glad that Lindsey helped us set the stage for that and was a part of it all.
It was very important to me to attempt a VBAC and after much research, having a doula was top on my list. I was apprehensive at first - unsure about having another person present and if the cost would be worth it; however, after my initital visit with Lauren, I never thought twice about the decision. The experience from the first meeting through to the post-birth visit was exactly what I needed - she provided constant support and much needed encouragement, offerred useful suggestions, maintained a calm perspective, and shared her knowledge without ever being intrusive or pushy. I firmly believe having a doula in general, and Lauren specifically, was vital to my successful VBAC and overall wonderful birth experience. I highly recommend!
“As a first time mom wanting a natural birth, I assumed a Midwife, participating husband, and some prenatal classes was all I needed to follow my birth plan. My Midwife was very firm at my first appointment when she said, “if you are serious about having an unmedicated birth, you absolutely will need a Doula”. It was clear at that point that I needed to learn what the heck a Doula was and find one as soon as possible.
Lauren was the first referral I received. From the moment I met her, she gave off this incredibly warm and soothing presence. I just knew she was the exact person I wanted by my side when the going got tough.
Lauren was instrumental in getting me through the days prior to and during my 10 long painful hours of labor. Her knowledge, strength, and the atmosphere she created in the room were everything I wanted. She was there for every moment and never left my side. Her great depth of knowledge helped me understand what was going on at all times. She and my husband worked as an amazing team to cheer me on and keep me going. Every time I felt like giving up, when I had nothing left to give, Lauren gave me the confidence to truly ‘let go’ and let my body deliver my baby.
There are truly no words to describe how blessed I am to have had Lauren as our Doula. She was quite honestly was THE ONLY reason I was able to follow my birth plan and have the delivery I wanted. My incredible experience with Lauren is something I will never forget.”

My husband and I partnered with The Birth Boutique for our pregnancy/labor after being referred to them by another doula and interviewing quite a few doulas. We were very impressed with their organization and their attention to detail during our phone and in-person interviews. We also liked the idea that they worked as a team and were both present for all prenatal meetings as this ensured that we would be comfortable with the doula who was present on the big day. We scheduled our prenatal meetings and before each meeting they would send over an agenda for us to review so we could be prepared for the meeting. At the meeting they had worksheets, answered all our questions and didn't rush. Any items that needed it were followed up on in a timely fashion. For all of these reasons we felt amazingly prepared heading into labor. My labor began very unexpectedly with my water breaking around 10PM. Jen was on call and provided great support in helping us making the decision on when to head to the hospital. I truly believe it was serendipitous that Jen was on call as my labor required intervention and she could speak from experience when she answered my questions. This made us feel secure as we made choices throughout the progression of labor. She made great suggestions to help with pain management and was just a great emotional support to have throughout the whole process. After 20 hours of labor that included augmentation with Pitocin and an eventual epidural it was time to push. She coached me through the pushing and was so encouraging when I was tired. She kept my spirits up and prepared us to meet out little guy. Once he arrived she notified our family and made sure we were comfortable before leaving us to settle in as a family. TBB took the fear out of first time child delivery and helped me bring my child into the world with confidence. We are so thankful for all they provided us and look forward to including them on any subsequent pregnancies!
I am so thankful we chose Lindsey Monroe as our Doula for our first born in April 2016. She helped us to have the un-medicated birth in a hospital setting that we wanted. Her comforting voice, and knowledge about laboring positions to increase comfort was priceless. She helped me to manage the intensity of the contractions by encouraging me throughout. She was so attentive and caring, exactly what I needed throughout my 21-hour labor! The photos she took of our son after he was born were amazing - she truly captured the first moments of his life, and of us meeting him - we will cherish them forever! I recommend Lindsey to any couple that wants an extra set of very capable hands to be with them as they go through labor and delivery! We met with her twice beforehand, and that really helped to educate us on what to expect and to create the familiarity that you would want to have with someone going through this experience with you. I can't say enough wonderful things about our experience of using a Doula, and we were so blessed to have worked with Lindsey, I hope we can work with her again for future children!
Lindsey was an amazing addition to my pregnancy and birth. At first I was not sure I could handle a drug-free birth, but after our consultations she gave me confidence that I needed to have the natural birth we wanted. She is a fantastic communicator, listened to everything we wanted, and provided invaluable information. I was able to labor at home for as long as possible by using the techniques she showed us. When Lindsey met us at the hospital she was so supportive by helping me work through the contractions and calm down to rest in between. She was by my side the entire time. We also loved that she had her camera to capture our daughters water birth, we will forever have those memories we can look back on. I highly recommend her and we hope to work with her for all of our babies!
