All people deserve to have dignified and culturally relevant support across the spectrum of pregnancy experiences and outcomes. I offer a sliding scale based on income and need. My afterbirth services consist of Mexican Traditional Medicine rituals including tea preparation, bajo steam, herbal slap bath, massage, faja teaching, and closing of the hips. The duration is about 3-5 hours and on a sliding scale basis. My afterbirth support may be rolled into my birth doula care or requested on its own. I also make all-natural baby and family products for body and health.

It was such a wondeedil experience to have a session with Alida, she was very helpful at explaining what  happening, the herbs, the reasons, the history and at the same time respecting your comfort levels. My wife loved the pampering and the connection to ancestral knowledge. We are so blessed to have people that continue to light work such as Alida.

Alida worked with my family to support us before, during, and after the birth of our baby Felix in August 2016.  I can say without a doubt that Alida was the single most important factor that led to us having a positive birth experience despite being in a hospital, which was not our original hope.

During my pregnancy, she helped us think through many different scenarios and craft a birth plan to share with hospital staff. She met with us several times and taught us about different laboring positions and provided us with herbal remedies for relaxation and later on to encourage labor.

When I was in labor, Alida's presence, experience, and skills were invaluable. She helped me to find a laboring position that I could focus in so that I could take the contractions more calmly. Having her with us made me feel reassured and confident enough to stay at home for almost our entire labor. As a result, we were able to avoid almost all of the hospital interventions that we didn't want. Once we were at the hospital, Alida continously advocated for us and for the preferences we had shared in our birth plan.

After Felix was born, Alida visited us at home to check on Felix but also to support me with teas, baths, and steams. Her knowledge of herbs was really amazing. She shared with us the purpose of each plant she was using as well as it's indigenous name. In addition to the physicial healing, Alida's visits were spiritualy very healing in a society that does so little to support mothers post-partum.

I can't possibly give a higher reccomendation for a doula. Alida was respectful, open, knowledgeable, reliable, and generous with herself. She made our experience having Felix a very positive one and I truly feel she will always be a special person to our family for the role that she played.
