Mollie is nothing short of phenomenal. Because of her constant support in the last weeks of my pregnancy we were able to achieve a completely natural birth at the Mt. Sinai West birthing center as we intended. This was our first child and I cannot imagine how we would have managed to go through this experience without her as our doula.
Months before, Mollie went above and beyond to get to know my partner and me personally and help us navigate birth plans, helpful tricks, and tools for alleviating common difficulties during pregnancy. She made sure we were confident once going into labor. I went overterm and was in prelabor for more than a week. Mollie came over during that time to massage me and provide emotional support during a challenging time.
When labor finally started, she was there without judgment to help us and guide us through our options. Her support in our home through very intense contractions got me through two hours I never would have been able to manage on my own. Despite knowing one another for just a short time, I was completely comfortable with her.
At the hospital she knew exactly what to do. She continued to coach me through contractions and helped my partner get more involved. When it came time to push, she worked seamlessly with my doctor and nurse to achieve a quick delivery. Through all of this, she also somehow managed to take outstanding professional photographs of our birth through labor and delivery and immediately after.
Even after birth, she has been a constant help as we have struggled with breastfeeding, providing suggestions and referrals. In short, Mollie is fantastic, and we would recommend her to anyone looking for a birth doula!
Mollie is a wonderful doula and human. We chose her after speaking with many doulas, as we felt choosing a doula was one of the most important decisions for our labor. This is someone who is going to be joining you throughout the entire process, and things are going to get intimate. Mollie is smart, kind, nurturing, encouraging, and knows her stuff. She takes the time to understand your vision for childbirth, and gives all of her knowledge, resources, and support to make that happen. Throughout labor I felt safe, calm, and was able to focus on the experience (and my contractions) because I knew she was there taking care of everything. Like a ninja she'll say kind words, clean up a mess, call a Lyft, or take an amazing iPhone pic, seemingly all at once. We had an amazing pregnancy and labor, much of it thanks to Mollie. It wouldn't have been the same without her.
I had the extreme pleasure and luck to have been able to deliver my baby with the aid of Mollie. My story goes a little something like this: At thirty-six weeks my water broke while my partner happened to be in L.A. I called Mollie in sobbing hysterics, but hung up the phone already feeling like I had a teammate in this scary situation. She was calm and collected and already en route to the hospital to meet me. Mollie talked me through everything that I needed to be talked through for the next twelve hours. She understood my birth plan and helped me communicate it to the doctors; made sure I understood everything that was happening to me and that I was comfortable with the doctor’s recommendations; and most of all, made me feel less terrified and more in control of the delivery that might have happened without my partner, but luckily didn’t.
I couldn’t be more thankful to have had Mollie (literally) by my side during this life altering event. She is truly an amazing person and exceptional doula.
Mollie was an excellent, excellent doula, and went above and beyond what we needed from her.
We had a very tricky unplanned premature delivery scenario where I was 3000 miles away during the ol' water breaking, but thankfully Mollie was able to make haste and get to the delivery room incredibly fast and keep things under control while I raced back on a red-eye flight. She stayed in touch with me throughout a tense flight across the country, keeping me up to date, and was very supportive and helpful with a lot of our concerns and questions.
Also, she's sweet, easygoing, and good-natured, too...bonus points! (Can we give out bonus doula points? We can, right?)
Our experience with Mollie as our birth doula was beyond amazing. I cannot find enough words to fully describe how grateful i am to have gone through this incredible time in our lives with Mollie's unwavering support. She truly listened to all our concerns, fears, wishes and desired preferences for the pregnancy and birth of our much longed for rainbow baby. I felt she was there every step of the way and knew just what to do to help us have the best experience possible. From our helpful conversations during my pregnancy and all 16 days past the estimated due date, through to giving birth and the hospital postpartum period, she was there giving us the support we needed. Her kind, thoughtful and intuitive presence was such an amazing gift to have during this very emotional and challenging time. We cannot thank her enough for everything she did for us and how empowered, supported and loved she helped us feel. Each nurse that we had even commented on how wonderful Mollie is to work with and her true gift as a birth attendant. During labor she said all the things I needed to hear and was there working in tandem with my husband giving the best counter pressure during each contraction when I needed it. Something I hadn’t considered beforehand was how helpful it was to have another set of ears taking in the information from the doctors and nurses. It gets so intense during labor for both parents and it can be hard to process everything at times, having an advocate there that’s able to “translate” the quick interactions that sometimes happen was so helpful. Mollie helped put us at ease by going over things and highlighting some positive points that we missed. It’s so easy to only hear the negative during challenging experiences but having someone in your corner reminding you of how awesome you’re actually doing is incredibly empowering. We highly recommend Mollie, she is phenomenal.
Molie stepped in as I was transfering to the hospital and was seamless with her support throughout the end of a very long labor. She knew exactly what everyone in the room needed including my husband and midwife and I was so thankful for that! She helped hold my legs for hours while I pushed, wiped my brow and chest as I was sweating and screaming, I mean she was amazing! I can't even express how crucial she was to have in the room and how I am not sure I would have had a successsful VBAC without her. She is made to be a doula and be present when someone is birthing and anyone would be lucky to have her by their side.
My wife and I are so happy to have had Mollie be a part of our birthing experience. She was caring, attentive and did everything to make sure we were comfortable and prepared for an experience that is impossible to fully be ready for. While Mollie was certainly there for my wife, she was also an invaluable resource for me. She made sure I felt involved in the process and that I was calm and ready to help in any way.
I can not give a high enough recommendation to Mollie. She was the perfect partner for us as we went through the birthing process.
Mollie is amazing. I would rate her a 15 out of 10. My baby decided to come 10 days late and as a first time mom, I was going a bit nuts. Mollie checked in frequen and helped keep me sane during the waiting. Then when my baby finally decided to arrive Mollie was there as soon as we asked her to be, traveling through a blizzard to get to the hospital. Her calm presence and support made labor so much easier for me and the way she worked so seamlessly with my husband was so soothing for me. I'm so happy with how my birth and labor turned out and it wouldn't have been the same without Mollie's support and caring. After we went home, Mollie was great about checking in to make sure the transition to parenting was going well and her care made me feel less alone during the first few weeks especially after my husband went back to work. Could not recommend her enough as she's simply amazing.
I would give Mollie a 10 out of 10 rating as a doula for the birth of my first child. I achieved a fully natural home birth with Mollie as my coach. She was professional, calm, patient and nonjudgmental throughout. Mollie gave my husband and I a pre birth packet with tools and information. She checked in frequently and came over to practice labor coping techniques in person with me and my husband prior to the birth. When then birthing time came, Mollie arrived to my home at the perfect stage in labor and stayed the full 11 hours of labor and delivery. Upon Mollie's arrival, she immediately gave me options and suggestions for positions of comfort. She made sure I was hydrated at all times. She provided massage, aromatherapy and constant moral support to encourage me. Her and my husband worked together in synergy to support me. I found the breath coaching and vocalazations to be the most valuable. I can't imagine my labor and delivery without her. When my midwifes arrived, Mollie worked in perfect harmony with them as I got ready for transition and the pushng stage. She has such a calm and comforting presence. She is self assured but not overbearing in anyway. In addition she helped clean up after the birth, which was a huge help, and allowed my husband and I rest with our new baby. I highly recommend Mollie as a birth doula. At first when planning my birth I considered not having a doula, but I am beyond happy with my choice to have Mollie there with me for this journey. Do yourself a favor and hire Mollie Laurienzo as your doula!
Mollie's deep care for birth work becomes apparent immediately upon meeting her. She is committed to supporting families through both life's planned for and unexpected moments. Her compassionate and open nature, in combination with her resourcefulness, would serve any one or any family seeking the support of a doula.
I would give Mollie FIVE STARS or a 10 out of 10 rating. I can't say enough positive things about her! She was a real blessing for me at a critical time. Let’s face it – after childbirth you are exhausted and overwhelmed and hormonal. You need some SUPPORT!
Enter Mollie with her calm soothing energy and non judgmental vibe, who asks constantly “What can I do for you? Can I make you a sandwich? Here drink a glass of water – its important to stay hydrated when breastfeeding.” She accompanied my child and I to an important medical appointment and also grocery shopping (a big outing for the first time). She showed me how to use my baby carrier. She did my dishes. She listened.
Mollie is funny and knowledgeable and encouraging and generally a cool lady, exactly what a new Mom needs. Give yourself the best present you can imagine – hire her as your post-partum doula!
Mollie knows how to get to the center of things. Her extreme empathy and openness make her uniquely able to form deep connections with people she barely knows. This is absolutely the most essential attribute a doula can have.
