Elizabeth Wellman

If I could describe working with Bonnie in one word it would be supportive. Through the whole process of my labor she supported the decisions I made and made sure that my wishes were acknowledged and followed by hospital staff and family. She was available and knowledgable regarding any questions I had. She helped us build a birth plan and walked us through important things that we might not have thought to tell the nurses but having it as a part of our birth plan helped insure that our wishes were known. She also made sure I knew other options if things didn't go as planned and I'm glad she did because though I had planned on a natural birth after 40 hours and very little progression it was decided that a c-section was the best option. After the c-section it was discovered that there was a complication that the Doctors could not have known about that makes it impossible for me to give birth naturally. Bonnie encouraged me through natural labor but also encouraged me to follow my gut when I felt that natural birth was no longer an option. If I had not been supported in that decision I might have continued to labor not knowing about the complications I had and it could have been very dangerous for me or the baby. I feel very grateful to Bonnie for having been apart of my birth experience and for all the support she provided me.
