Sarah is the greatest! We worked together on both the birth of my son & daughter. Sarah is approachable, knowledgeable, giving and kind. She helped keep me grounded, in the moment, laughing and even anticipated my needs before I knew them myself. We could not have done it without her. She went above and beyond for us and we were so fortunate to have her there for us! One of our births started at home & finished at the hospital, the other was at home. Sarah was calm, adaptable and ready for whatever came her way. She is strong and full of endurance. I highly recommend her, with applause. :)

I cannot recommend Sarah highly enough as a doula. Sarah has attended the births of both my children. My first daughter was born at home in January 2014. My labor and birth was very difficult and complicated. I was in active labor for 47 hours, with no progression for the first 35 hours or so. Sarah stayed with us the entire time and was a vital member of our birth team; she not only offered support physically for me and my husband, but she also intuitively provided support for my family members and our midwife by making food, fetching supplies, and offering ideas and providing emotional support. We ended up transporting to the hospital briefly for maternal exhaustion, and thanks in part to Sarah's professionalism and support, we were able to go back home and have our baby peacefully and quietly at home. What was really impressive, however, was that this was her first birth as a doula!

Three years later we hired Sarah again for the birth of our second daughter. The birth was much different--less than 8 hours, very easy and calm. I was so impressed by how much Sarah had learned and how much experience she had gained in those three years. She was great at my first birth, she was indispensable at my second! She helped me through labor, touching and rubbing just the right spots at just the right times. She had so much knowledge and experience and our midwife was so impressed by her professionalism that Sarah actually caught our second baby!

Sarah listens very closely to her clients and provides them with exactly the type of birth experience they ask for. She is a wealth of knowledge, and I am always impressed by how deeply and passionately she researches information. There were very few questions to which Sarah did not have an answer, and if there ever was, she never offered opinions or misinformation, which was important to me. Instead, she found answers and information and helped me find the right information on my own. We love Sarah!

Sarah was the most incredible Doula and she helped us to have our perfect birth experience with our second daughter.  I was increasingly anxious during my second pregnancy, as I thought about the long and painful labor I had with our first.  The joy of our first daughter had blocked these memories until I was actually facing another birth and I became fearful about going through something like this again.  I had been looking at Doulas since the very beginning of pregnancy and felt drawn to Sarah's online description of her practice, in part because of her discussion of using massage.  I had found that massage was one of the only things that helped me the first time around, but did not have anyone specifically trained in this type of massage.

Immediately upon meeting Sarah I felt more relaxed about things, and talking with her helped me to confront my coming labor with courage.  When the labor began in the early morning, Sarah came over right away, and with her help I felt completely able to work through the pain.  Her technique was perfect, and I felt strong and positive throughout the day.  After my daughter was born that evening, I could not believe what an amazing experience my labor and delivery had been.  I did not know it was possible to have an experience like this.  My husband and other family members also loved Sarah, and we are so thankful to her for making the birth of our daughter so beautiful.  I cannot recommend her enough.

Sarah was perfect.  She anticipated what the Mother needed, was sweet and kind, and so steady, even after many hours of labor.  I am a midwife and I have rarely worked with such a competent, knows-just-what-to-do doula.  She knew when to leave the couple alone, when to rub here, or there, or grab water... soothing words and a calming presence.  I loved her.

When it came to choosing a Doula I knew generally what I "wanted"

Someone who could retain my wants and needs and speak for me, Someone intuitive, someone not afraid to step in on my behalf, a coach for my partner, a strong voice, someone who tends to be on the more natural side as far as labor ideals, someone who does their research and knows the answers to my many questions, someone to rub my shoulders endlessly, someone who knew when to stop, with Sarah I really found all of that and more.

I tend to be a strong willed, stubborn and logical person. When I considered how I would feel, or act under the influence of labor and all of those hormones I had a strong feeling I would be inward and or the opposite of how I usual am. Having grown up with two brothers and a mother who often looks to me for guidance instead of the other way around I didn't know what it would feel like to submit to someones care completely. Sarah made me feel so safe being vulnerable. I felt free and open and never once scared.

My water broke on Friday at 1am, Sarah and I stayed in close communication until I wanted her with me on Saturday morning at 7am, I gave birth on Sunday at 1pm. She did not leave my side until that night when we were all tucked away and resting. Her hands must have been sore from all of the amazing massage. She kept me incredibly hydrated and somehow got me to eat even though it was the last thing on my mind. Both of my midwives commented on how attentive and amazing she was as a doula. One of which used to be a doula and laughed at how little she used to do compared to Sarah's attention to detail.

Her services don't feel like a service. Her efforts to comfort, soothe and coach if you request it feel more like natural instict. I honestly can say I would not have had such a positive labor experience if it were not for her being there.
