I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Katelin. Her warm smile and gentle personality won me over when I was in the process of interviewing doulas. She was a gift to my husband and me throughout our pregnancy. Our prenatal appointments were so thorough. She really takes the time to get to know you and your family. This is greatly appreciated as our 2 year old son was at our appointments, too! And they were held at our home, which made it so convenient for us. The birth preferences worksheet that she has her clients complete is amazing. I filled mine out and she typed it all up for me. During labor, she is a dependable guide and her therapeutic touch was absolutely perfect. Katelin kept my rice sock warmed, used our noodle for back rubs, and the counter pressure she applied all helped keep me comfortable. Her calming presence was soothing and a comfort to both me and my husband; it kept us relaxed, and it kept our labor very peaceful. In other words, Katelin is everything a doula should be: warm and caring, easy-going, accessible (so easy to reach via phone, text, email throughout pregnancy) accomodating, dependable, compassionate, nurturing (thank you, i felt like I had a masseuse during labor!), loving, and all inclusive. She even wrote our birth story of our baby. I also loved that she does a postpartum visit after baby arrives. My husband and I were truly blessed to have her with us when we welcomed our second child into the world. Thank you Katelin!!
Katelin was fantastic. When my wife first mentioned that she wanted to hire a doula for our first birth, I'll admit, I wasn't sure what the point was. After everything was said and done, I was so glad that there was someone in the room that we could both look to for support. Katelin gave me numerous techniques for keeping my wife comfortable and engaged in her labor, and I shudder to think how helpful (or unhelpful) I would have been if I had only my own knowledge and experience to draw upon while my wife was giving birth to our child. Katelin is smart, capable, knowledgeable, flexible, and kind, and I am so glad we hired her. She is an awesome doula!
I can not express how much we loved working with Katelin. She was not only our doula; she was our listening ear, our safety place when we needed one and the expert in the room we trusted. She knew so much about the birth process, ways to cope with labor pains and answered every question we had. She made the entire experience that much better just by being her. From the very first time we met her, she made us feel at ease. She was so helpful answering any questions we had, often times sent us links to sites that offered more insight and even gathered information (numbers, contact information, etc) for us so we didn't have to. She was compassionate, kind, professional and nurturing. She made sure everyone was taken care of during the birth - and there were a lot of people to love on. From mommy-to-be to grandmother, she made sure she comforted us in our time of need. Our birth experience was 100% better because Katelin was part of it. She filled the room with so much joy, brought out the best in everyone and made the birth of our third baby one for the books. We couldn't be more delighted that she was part of our birth team and can not wait to see her at our next one!
Katelin was always incredibly professional. We first met with her around 20-25 weeks as a back up doula but felt that our birth team would not be complete without her! She always brough a bag of tricks with her and made sure my husband stayed involved in the birth practice. Katelin was always available for me to ask questions or just simply vent my frustration to during my pregnancy. During labor she was on the ball with encouraging me to frequently change positions to handle the pain and progress labor. She also did not hesitate to jump in during the pushing stage! I would absolutelt recommend her as a doula!
Katelin is a wonderful lady and doula,i was so worried about getting a doula because i was wondering how i was going to get comfortable having someone i have just met in my delivery room but katelin made sure to meet with me and my husband several times and she was open and so friendly that it made us feel like we had known her for a very long time.Being a first time mom ,i was so clueless about what to expect and what i wanted my birth to look like, using questionaires and one on one conversations she helped me arrive at a birth plan, she even typed out one for me!
I had a non-medicated birth with an ob/gyn in a hospital!!!! and i will attribute my success majorly to katelin.she helped encouraged me to keep on when i almost threw in the towel to get an epidural however she also tried to help me understand i wouldnt be a failure if i did get an epidural, the way she balanced her encouragement between what i have always wanted(no epidural) and what i may need then (not feeling bad if i get an epidural) was amazing. Her suggestions on what to request from my doctors and hospital nurses where very helpful. She even suggested to my husband to get a blindfold during my pushing phase since he is hemophobic and this was genius as it enabled me have my husband in there for support but not have him pass out.
Did I mention that Katelin was still training when i used her so i didn't pay her a dime and i received first class services??There is a lot more to say but in a nutshell, she is phenomenal and i totally recommend her.
