Rachel Gianni

After a lot of back and forth on whether we wanted to hire a doula or not, we finally decided at 36 weeks to hire Elizabeth. Our only regret was that we didn't do it sooner. From the moment we hired her, she was such a great support system and source of knowledge. She helped guide me to ask the right questions of my OBs so that I knew what their stance was on my goals for a natural childbirth. Unfortunately, they did not exactly align with what I was hoping for, but Elizabeth educated me on my rights and ensured I felt empowered to make the right decisions for myself. During the birth, she recommended new positions and techniques to help with the labor at what seemed exactly the right time and also helped guide my husband to be the most supportive person in the room. She constantly reminded me I had the right to stand up for myself and ask for what I wanted when it was healthy and safe to do so. Even after my son was born, her support continued. She stayed a while to ensure that breastfeeding went well and that everyone was feeling okay. At our postpartum appointment, she recounted our birth experience with us and answered ALL the questions. I mean ALL the questions. She even helped us figure out how to use our baby carrier and showed us how to use our cloth diapers. I could go on and on about all the ways Elizabeth helped during the short 3 weeks that we worked with her, but I think you get the idea-- hiring Elizabeth was one of the best decisions we made during our pregnancy and birth journey! We truly feel as if we hadn't had Elizabeth in our corner during the whole process, we wouldn't have had the birth experience we were hoping for. I really can't say enough about this amazing doula!
