Our experience with Jodi could not have been better! She was awesome, my wife and I are Christians and my wife doesn't have family in Colorado. So we were praying for a person that could be more than just a nurse, also a companion and a friend. Because this was a first time pregnancy we did not know much about Doulas or anyone who might be good, but a person that my wife had just met told her about Jody and we could not be happier with how it all worked out!

From the beginning of our time working with Jodi everything just seemed right. She printed out some bible verses that my wife found very inspiring and when my wife’s water broke Jodi was a calm reassuring voice with excellent advice on what our options were and she guided us over the phone with multiple calls until we went to the hospital. Once at the hospital Jodi stayed with us throughout the next 24 hours comforting, advising, and assisting with the birth of our lovely daughter. We really appreciate all of what Jodi was able to do for us!

My husband and I were skeptical about hiring a doula...until we met Jodi. She made herself instantly available and worked around our crazy schedules to make sure we all got to know each other and to help educate us on what her role would be, and what labor would be like (in a general sense). We went from skeptics, to feeling that we absolutely could not have had the birth we wanted if she hadn't been there to support us. She knew when to laugh and joke with us and when to bunker down and get serious. She provides an absolutely invaluable service and becomes another loved one in the room supporting you. Hand serving me cheese and crackers in the bath afterwards was an added bonus! ;) We love Jodi!!!

After having an unplanned caesarean birth with my first son, I knew I wanted to try my best for a VBAC with my second son. Through my research, I found that having a doula present would greatly improve my chances. That led me to Jodi. From the first meeting, she was incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. She openly listened to my wishes and concerns. During labor she was responsive and arrived at my house as soon as I asked. Jodi has a very calming presence and many techniques to help cope through contractions. The birth happened quickly after arriving at the hospital and Jodi was there to support my husband and I and explain what was happening when we experienced some complications. I did go on to have a VBAC and am thankful Jodi was by my side. I would highly recommend her services to any expecting mama.

The best decision I made for my son's birth! Her knowledge and support allowed me to have the natural non-medicated birth I wanted. The classes we took with her prepared me and my husband for what was in store. She coached me through 2 days of contractions and gave me several exercises/yoga positions which helped our baby move into the proper position and brought on my labor. Jodi was always available and was at our house within 10 minutes of my phone call the night our son was born. Immediately her touch cut my contraction pains in half. This continued throughout my labor to the point where Jodi could not step away from me because I relied on her touch so much to help with contraction pains. We delivered at St. Joes and Jodi was by my side supporting me and my decisions the entire time. Jodi is the ONE thing I would recommend to any woman having a baby! (Especially a woman opting for a natural non-medicated birth!) My husband was very aprehensive about hiring a doula at first, and now tells everyone how amazing Jodi was and says "she was worth every cent!"!  We love her and will definitely use her again if we're blessed with more children.

Jodi was an amazing support throughout our entire pregnancy/labor/delivery journey. The Dr's had some concerns about our baby being too small/growth restricted and once Jodi came on board she was the calm reassuring force we needed! If you're looking for a down to earth amazing doula, call Jodi! Best decision we made!

I should add too that I had to be induced and Jodi was very skilled at helping me (and my husband) keep up with the intensity of the pitocin driven contractions. If you ask  my husband if he could have "gone it alone" without Jodi's help...he, without hesitation, would say Jodi was invaluable. Jodi also had a laid back sense of humor. Joking with my husband who had fallen asleep at one point that Baby was already born and ready to meet him in the nursery haha!;)

Our experience with Jodi Schultz as our doula was nothing less than amazing! Looking back, it is one of the things that was 'optional' for us to do, but that had the greatest impact on our pregnancy and birthing experience. First off, Jodi was great in the fact that she wanted to make sure that SHE was the right doula for US. We talked on the phone and then she met in person with both my husband and I. We then met an additional 2 times before the birth where she answered a lot of our questions, but more importantly, made sure she understood our wishes. Being first time older parents, we wanted to make sure that we were supported and able to do things our way. We also wanted to make sure that we both (my husband and I) were supported on the day of the birth and not left wondering if we were doing the right things. She provided all that and more. She kept my husband in the loop, explaining things as we progressed when I was no longer able to communicate effectively. She hleped him help me. She also helped me directly, letting me know what was normal and giving me the confidence and feedback I needed (like stop freaking out!) so that I could have the birth I wanted. With her help, we had a NO-MEDICATION, NO-IV, NATURAL, WATER CHILD BIRTH! I felt soooo empowered! During the birth, when all the nurses were yelling to stop pushing and I couldn't hear them because I was in my zone, Jodi's was the voice that broke through...and I knew that I also did not have to worry about offending her in any way during the birth...either with my complete nakedness (which I was not planning, it just happened) or when I was only able to communicate through head nods! Her follow-up after the birth was great as well. I cannot prove but am 100% sure that it is because of her teachings and presence that our total birth experience was only 11 hours long, with active labor only 5 hours long and pushing only around 45 minutes! Thank you Jodi Shchultz! We will be calling you again!

We had not planned for a doula at our birth center, but unexpected circumstances caused us to head to the hospital.  Jodi stepped up to the job at the last minute and provided the much needed support to continue with our unmedicated birth.  From the minute she walked in the room, Jodi was mama's advocate and dad's helper.  She brought many items to help motivate, calm, and assist the birth process.  Throughout our time while laboring, Jodi suggested new labor positions, provide physical assistance, snapped a few pictures, talked with the nurses when needed, and so much more.  Jodi advocated for us by reminding the hospital staff of our birth plan and wishes and then reminding us about why things went certain ways, such as the need for the ultrasound in early labor to check positioning.  My husband and I both agree that we would never have made it through with our birth plan without Jodi by our side.  Jodi stuck with us through postpartum complications until we were settled into our mom and baby room.

After we returned home, Jodi stopped by our house at a time convenient for us.  She discussed postpartum issues, taught us how to use our baby carriers, dropped off a CD of pictures, and checked up on us in general.

We highly recommend Jodi as your birth doula.  She is patient, caring, and supportive, and most importantly advocates for the family.

Our experience with Jodi was wonderfu! She was very knowledgeable and compassionate. She even came over at 4 in the morning and stayed by my side for the whole 45hour labor.  We were so fortunate to have her help, especially since this was our first baby. Thank you so much Jodi!

Jodi is one of the most amazing people I've ever met. I could not be happier about my experience with her as my doula. She took the time to get to know me and my family beforehand and even went out of her way to make sure my grandma with alzhimers was comfortable  with her. Jodi stayed with me from the time I went into labor all way up until I gave birth. She was so calm, soothing, and extremely knowledgeable. Her personal experience as a mother really made me feel like I was in good hands. Speaking of which, she gives an excellent foot massage too.

I just feel like she goes above and beyond and if I could have paid her a million dollars I would have. In the future, I would definitely recommend her to my friends and family.

Jodi was an amazing doula. My husband and I were not sure of what a doula was or would do for us. After talking to her and having my husband meet with her and her husband to get a man's perspective on doulas, we were able to make the choice to have her be our doula for our twins delivery. We have a 2 year old son who I had with an epidural and this time with our twins I wanted to fufill my birth plan that I didn't get with my son. I wanted a natural, vaginal drug free delivery and was able to achieve that with Jodi's help. She was so knowledgable and such a great help to both of us. My husband and I were able to get some rest this time whereas with our son he and I both were awake for over 48 hours by the end of delivery. We both were able to eat and keep our energy up to get through the labor. My stress and anxiety level was so much more relaxed this time because the of ambiance Jodi established. She was able to keep people out of room that we wished to not be there as well as allowing those who we did want in and maintined a great professionalism through all of this. Jodi was able to help us speak to the various medical staff and really get a full understanding of every aspect of our labor, delivery, and post care. Her suggested positioning, accupunture pressure points, massage, and visualization techiniques really helped this momma who had no idea really what, other than breathing, would help me get through a drug free labor successfully. Jodi, I feel, was the best blessing for us as a family in achieving the labor and delivery that we wanted. She was outstanding and I would recommend her to anyone who is thinking of having a doula or even those people who have never thought of using a doula. I know that if I were ever to have another pregnancy, I would definitely want Jodi there for me again as our doula. She was WONDERFUL!
