I am so grateful that Cara was our doula! I don't know what we would have done without her! Cara provided us with so much information during the pregnancy. Anytime I had a question, even rather abstract questions, she would provide us with objective and evidence-based resources to help us make decisions without trying to sway us one way or another. She checked in with us frequently as our guess date approached. She was great at alleviating a lot of my anxieties and fears, especially as our guess date came and went with no progress. When I went into labor and we had some scary medical complications and the doctors were recommending some significant changes to our birth plan, Cara's presence was immensely calming and comforting in a very intense situation. It made a huge difference to have a familiar face and voice there, someone who knew us and our preferences, reassuring us, supporting my husband while he supported me, jumping in to help comfort me when my husband needed to speak with the doctors, making suggestions for comfort measures, encouraging me throughout the entire labor process, and being that constant calming presence in the room. Even though much of the labor didn't go exactly as planned, I can't say enough how much it helped to have Cara there through it all. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula--she's amazing!
My experience with Cara was amazing. She was available for questions whenever I had them come up and kept in touch with me when my due date hit. She helped me by finding information for me on pain management and birth plans. When I went into labor, she was amazing. She immediately helped me with my breathing and coached me through the contractions. Her presence was incredibly calming and I am grateful she was there. She helped my boyfriend as well, this was our first kid and we had no experience whatsoever so having her there was the hugest relief ever. At the hospital, she was very focused on making sure my labor progressed and she stayed until the very end. She was very attentive to my needs and encouraged me to utilize the peanut ball because she knew it would help my labor. I highly recommend Cara's services, my whole family is grateful for her presence. Our next birth, she will definitely be there!
Caralyn was a gift to have at the birth of our daughter! We hired Caralyn after finding out that--due to medical reasons--my husband might not be able to be at the birth of our first child and we were looking for some additional birth support. She was very flexible about the special conditions that we were working with, and very supportive of our choices and concerns. She asked lots of good questions at our pre-birth meetings that helped us prepare, and brought up good points to talk to our midwives about so that our whole birth team (midwives, doula, nurses and us) would be on the same page.
When my water broke but labor hadn't yet begun, Caralyn was totally available through the whole experience, and acted as a calming presence during what was an initially scary experience at the hospital as we figured out next steps. Despite labor and delivery taking longer than we expected, Caralyn was encouraging and aware of our birthplan priorities and helped us advocate for our needs.
Without Caralyn we would not have had such a special birth experience. My husband was able to be at the birth in full capacity but having Caralyn there as a practiced hand made us feel much more comfortable. The pictures she took of our family immediately after birth are some of our most precious.
Caralyn's expertise in herbalism was also appreciated both during labor and delivery and post-partum recovery. We thank her and cannot recommend her enough.
