My experience with Amanda was amazing. She made my husband and I feel supported and informed throughout our entire pregnancy and this was our first. She was always willing to answer any questions I had about birthing and other concerns that arose, and if she did not have an answer for me she was great about referring me to the right person/place to get my questions answered. She was extremely supportive during my birthing, and when it took a different turn then what we hoped/wanted she made sure to make me feel good about my decisions I had to make and never passed any judgement on me whatsoever. She stayed with us during my entire labor, which was close to 20 hrs and I loved the fact that she got my husband involved and showed him different techniques to help me through my contractions. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting a doula for their birth, because she is a great birth companion.
Amanda was incredibly helpful with our birth experience. I found it very helpful and empowering to have someone who seemed to know everything at my disposal. She knew about every step in the labor process, and had extensive knowledge about every procedure and intervention I was asked to consider. My husband really loved that she respected and advocated for our choices and opinions, even if she may have differing opinions. Amanda was so calm, and even comforted my mother when she got worried about me. Her presence really added a feeling of peace and control to our experience.
At first I was unsure about whether or not to get a doula, and my husband was against spending the money, but it ended up being worth every cent! If Amanda hadn't been there I may well have had my baby in the car waiting for the midwife to get there. She was very professional and calm in what must've been a scary situation for her, and I didn't have to worry about trying to get my point across to my caregiver because she already knew what I wanted and told her for me. She was also very helpful in making sure I was comfortable and did what she could to help relieve my pain. It was nice to have someone there to help my husband know how to help also. He appreciated being able to do something rather than sitting there unsure of what to do, like he was with our first baby.
it was great because she is more like a friend than a professional. It made my delivery so much less stressful for me because she could take care of the little details for me and let me focus on having a baby. Definitely going to have her help with my future babies.
Amanda was a great help before the birth to solidify our birth plan and help us to be proactive in our choices. I felt like she respected my decisions and genuinely wanted to help me with my dream birth rather than push her ideas on us. She had a lot of useful information for us to consider and was helpful with ideas to add to our plan. During the birth she was there every minute. She was very supportive and encouraging. She had helpful suggestions to get labor starting on its own and was helpful in pain management. My husband liked having someone there to help/support him so he didn't feel on his own and feel all the pressure. It was a great help to have someone not so emotionally involved. She was great after the birth and I feel like she genuinely cared about our wellbeing. When my birth didn't go as planned, I didn't feel any judgement from her but rather she tried to help me be confident in my decisions and assure me that I had the birth I was meant to have and needed to have.
