My experience with Bethany as my doula was wonderful! This was my first birth and I knew it was going to be in a hospital so I wanted someone on my team to help me achieve my goal of a natural birth and to help me advocate for myself. She went above and beyond. Not only was Bethany herself extremely helpful during labor with different suggestions for pain management and serenity but she also helped the rest of my birth team (my husband and parents) know how to be useful as well. When I didn't have the words to ask for what I needed Bethany was there with suggestions. When I thought I couldn't handle the pain any longer she calmly reminded me of my goals. I managed to have avoid an epidural with an induced labor and that is definitely due to Bethany's support.
I also had her as my maternity, birth, and newborn photographer and her photos are beautiful. She made my first pregnancy such a wonderful experience and I couldn't recommend her more!
Bethany was our doula for our fourth child. She was wonderful to work with. She took us on at week 36 so we were thankful she was willing to take us so late. We didn’t use a doula for our first child, but had used one for the second and third births. It had been 10 years since our last baby was born. We wanted a positive birth experience and minimal medical interventions. Bethany was very supportive and encouraging during the labor. I needed the full attention of both my husband and Bethany to get through the contractions at the end, but we were able to have the unmediated birth we wanted. I would highly recommend Bethany as a doula, even if you have had a baby or several already. You may be tempted to think you don’t need a doula now that you have experience but you will not regret having one, and Bethany did a wonderful job for us. We highly recommend her!!
Bethany was exactly what we needed. We needed a someone to help us through an emotional pregnancy with complications and she did that and so much more. She helped my husband and I to stay in the moment and to stay at peace the entire delivery. She brings a combing calming sweet presence to any place you are with her. She was one of the best investments we have ever had!!
With being a first-time mama, I had no idea what to expect for my pregnancy and labor/delivery, but I knew that I wanted the support of a doula. Thankfully, I knew Bethany. First as a friend and then as my doula. She provided a great library of resources for me to read in preparation and was readily available for any questions that I had.
During our long 29.5 hour induced labor, her presence, patience and knowledge was an incredible comfort. She gracefully walked my husband and I through the process of relaxing and pain management while we worked to deliver our little boy. And then when I suddenly got sick with an infection, she stayed into the late hours of the night to snuggle our boy while my husband cared for me.
I am so grateful for Bethany and the way she loves her clients.
Bethany was amazing to work with! She was such a calming presence from our first meeting, all the way through the delivery. She really helped me overcome my fears and made a complicated birth process wonderful. Also, the pictures she took during the delivery were beautiful and I am so thankful to have those! We loved working with Bethany and are so thankful that she was a part of the last part of our pregnancy and our daughter's birth.
Working with Bethany was such a blessing. She facilitated our desires to have an all natural, peaceful, God-centered birth. Bethany provided support through the pregnancy and was reliable to answer questions or to give word of encouragement when I needed it! She and my husband worked seemlessly to support me physically and spiritually while I labored, making sure I was drinking water, providing scripture cards for me to meditate on, ensuring the music was just right, and supporting me in different labor positions.
If I were to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing!
Bethany was an amazing Doula! She worked with us ahead of time to discuss our fears and expectations. She also helped us come up with a solid birth plan and educated us about our many different options. It was a blessing to be prepared ahead of time rather than going in blind. I really appreciated that she was able to come to our house and help us labor as long as we could here. This eliminated the fear or not knowing when to go to the hospital. Her presence brought peace. She really eased my anxiety. I was thankful to be able to look to her when I wasn't confident about whatever was happening. She has continued to be a blessing since the birth of my daughter, even going above and beyond to bring me some essential oils to help me get better rest. We love Bethany!
Bethany was amazing to work with. My husband and I are so thankful we chose her to be a part of our birth. When things did not go as planned, she supported me emotionally and spiritually through a very rough couple of days. During labor she was reassuring andsuch a calming presence. I don't think my husband and I could have done it with out her.
Bethany was an excellent addition to my birth team. I live away from my parents & sisters and wanted someone to support me and keep me on track during labor and birth. I also wanted a medication-free, epidural-free labor and delivery. She was also so calm, and reassuring and as a first time mom, that was just what I needed.
My two favorite parts of working with Bethany were:
1.) She took pressure off of husband and he was able to support ME and she supported ME and MY LABOR/BIRTH.
2.) She knew the right time to go to the hospital. I spent the majority of my labor at home, and delivered 1.5 hours after arriving at the hospital.
Bethany was amazing every step of the way. She met with us to talk about our birth wishes and give us advice when needed. My water broke 17 days before my due date and the first person we called was Bethany! She met us at the hospital and was so patient as we waited (and waited) for my labor to start. She suggested several things we could to move things along and gave us advice when we weren't sure what to do.
Once my contractions started, she had a suttle way of reminding me to take sips of water and breathe. (I kept forgetting!!!). When transition started, she was calm and reassuring and helped my husband to help me feel calm by flipping though our scripture cards and reminding him to use the heating pad.
I really think we were able to have a natural hospital birth only because we had Bethany as our doula! What a blessing she was! We already decided that the day we find out we're pregnant again, we're going to contact her!!
Bethany was a blessing! I did not have a doula for the births of my first two children and wanted to go a more natural route this time. I knew I would need all the help and support I could get, so I looked into hiring a doula. My husband and I decided on Bethany a few weeks before I was due.
Bethany kept in touch with me in the weeks leading up to our daughters birth, calming me down when I needed it and being generally supportive and encouraging when I went to 41 weeks.
When I did go into labor it was VERY fast (<3hrs) and Bethany was a calming presence while I was freaking out. It was comforting to me to know that I had two support people to advocate for me during my labor and delivery. She stayed with me until I was settled in my room postpartum.
She helped to make this birth a very positive experience and I would hire her again in a heartbeat!
Doulas aren't just for first time moms! This was baby #5, non-intervention birth #4 and my very 1st time with a doula. With 4 kids running around and being an "experienced" mom self care was on the bottom of my to-do list. Not with Bethany. She was exactly what I needed! She checked in with my before and after regular appointments, provided ideas and suggestions for staying healthy and getting rest but most of all she provided encouragement and support to really engage in my pregnancy.
Bethany was so in tune to my pregnancy. She would give me tips in person or via text about so many things from sleep to exercise to good self care. During pre-term labor and bedrest Bethany never panicked or worried, she reminded me to rest and also prepare without losing my cool.
My favorite thing that Bethany brought to the table was her encouragement. She spent a very long night prior to labor walking around my house, wrapping my belly and just being with me. Her presence allowed my family to rest and prepare for the birth and all that followed. She was such a support in labor and gave me space to labor as I preferred but also asked kindly and gently if I needed anything. She also communicated well with the nurses and my husband which gave me great confidence to just keep going.
I am so thankful to have shared this moment and time with Bethany. She was a breath of fresh air into my pregnancy. She helped me enjoy all the small moments.
What a gift to have someone to celebrate with you and for you as you bring a child into the world. I can't thank Bethany enough for the gifts of joy and peace she brought into my life during this time.
Bethany attended the birth of both my daughters, and during both experiences, she was calm, perceptive, and prayerful. In her quiet, steady, confident manner, she offered encouragement and assurance when I needed it.
During each of my pregnancies, my conversations with Bethany were hugely impactful. Before my first birth experience, Bethany shared what she was learning and reading, but before my second child's birth, she had her son, so then she was able to share from first-hand knowledge as well as all that she had studied.
During the labor of my first baby's birth, Bethany recommended different positions, counter-pressure massages, and natural pain management techniques which were beneficial during the long process. Although it was a safe and successful experience, it required an epideral and labor augmentation, neither of which I had wanted, so I was left with disappointment and anxiety. That carried into my second pregnancy, which Bethany knew.
My mental and spiritual preparation for my second child was even more important because of the fears I was dealing with. In her consultation with me during that pregnancy, Bethany really focused on helping me overcome those fears. She recommended that I create birth art and meditate on specific Scriptures in order to deal with my anxiety. She also reminded me of God's providence during my first labor and delivery. With my second daughter's labor, I was much more attuned and confident with labor positioning and managing pain so I was able to respond to my body's prompting, but Bethany offered a couple suggestions that really helped me focus on staying relaxed.
Her knowledge of labor, delivery, and birth as well as her knowledge of me, my desires, and my fears aided in my second birth experience being what I hoped it would be: peaceful, joyful, and God-honoring.
