I can't say enough about having Carie as our doula for our baby boy. I'm a first time mom and have Fibromyalgia and was worried about the pain kicking up during and on top of labor pain. That's why we picked Carie. She had lots of ideas up her sleeve for handling labor pains and the potential Fibromyalgia pain, but we got so much more support for her than we expected. She taught us a counter pressure technique that was THE savior when I had false labor and then real labor - both were back labor pains. She was always available and answered my numerous questions and gave me sooo much assurance when I was concerned or worried or wondering what was going on. My labor was very hard and complicated and not only was she there for me, but she was there for my husband who had to watch me in so much pain. She was never judgmental and supported us in whatever wishes we had. When it came to make the decision to end the labor in a c section for baby's sake, it was really comforting knowing that even she thought it was a very good idea. She's 100% for you and what your needs are. I felt support and genuine care for our family on a human level. Not only was Carie a great doula, but shes a stellar person. We really appreciated getting to know her and her us. After delivery, she made us a meal for when we came home from the hospital, which we were SO thankful for. She's checked in to see how we are doing and loves seeing photos of the little man she helped bring into this world. She was the BEST thing we did to prepare for labor and delivery and we would choose her again! I could probably write a book on how much we appreciate her.
I met with Carie for a consultation (after reading many wonderful reviews about her )when I was around 6 months pregnant. She happily took me on as a client. From the start, Carie was warm, gentle yet professional. Carie listened to all of my requests as far as how I wanted to my pregnancy to go. She never judged me or discouraged me which was what I had experienced sometimes at my hospital check ups! She gave me so much information on things that I had heard about but didn't know enough about(for example hypnobirths). She checked on me throughout my pregnancy, she did research for me when I wanted to figure out if I could keep the umbilical cord when giving birth in Italy, she gave me a book to read and she even brought me a beautiful brown doll for my daughter.
When it was time to go to the hospital Carie was calm and collected when my husband and I were not! She gave me massages, suggested different birthing positions, was my advocate when I needed it and was my biggest cheerleader. She stayed throughout the entire labor and many hours after my daughter was born. She also visited us at home with a delicious homemade meal that was so terribly needed as my husband and I were exhausted! She taught me how to do infant massages and gave me so much advice that I still use today.
I am so appreciative to have had her help me bring life into this world. The amazing birthing experience would not have been the same without her. I highly recommend her as a doula! Much love to you Carie!
Carie's doula service was key to our amazing third trimester, labor and delivery. My husband and I, along with our 18 month old son, enjoyed her home visits. Carie did a fabulous job at going the extra mile by babysitting, bringing us meals and texting daily to see if she was meeting our needs. I will definitely use her for pregnancy number 3 and recommend her to other pregnant women.
