Sam was our doula for the birth of our first child. She was professional, knowledgeable and incredibly supportive. I cannot recommend her highly enough!!!! I had a long labor of 32 hours and she was incredibly helpful through text, phone call, and in person support during that long period.

Her check in texts through the prenatal period were great and allowed me to get to know her better. She approaches her practice from a very open and non-judgmental place. I appreciated all of the questions that she asked about how I was feeling and how I was doing. During the prenatal visit she asked us a lot of great questions, this helped my husband and I write a birth plan that conveyed our wishes. We discussed scenarios and terms which helped us think about things we hadn't considered. Sam helped educated us on different parts of the birth and what to expect at the hospital.

I had the unmedicated vaginal delivery that I wanted but I think without Sam's help that may not have been possible. She was so encouraging and offered us advice and suggestions during labor and before. I feel so at peace with my birthing experience, thanks to her support. She was funny, easy-going and knowledgeable. She helped to keep me and my husband relaxed during this unknown time for us. I would definitely hire Sam again if I had another child and I recommend her to my friends. She was really helpful with words of encouragement when I had to breathe baby down before I was ready to push, I was really attuned to what she was saying. She was also instrumental in giving us the confidence to labor at home since my labor was slow to start. She reminded us to stay hydrated. Over all she was such a fundamental part of our positive bithing experience.

Samantha was an outstanding doula!! I highly recommend her to anybody, particularly those who are trying for VBAC. I worked with an experienced doula in Brooklyn with my first daughter and thought I would not need lots of help with more basic pregnancy/labor needs, but wanted Samantha's expertise with VBAC. I was surprised to encounter many moments where Samantha's insights were incredibly helpful and reassuring, both for VBAC related concerns and general pregnancy/labor concerns. Samantha was very supportive and if I ever had questions or wanted to discuss my progress, Samantha would get back to me immediately, regardless of the time of day. Samantha was also proactive at reaching out and setting up meetings to ensure I received ample support. Samantha has a thorough understanding of VBAC and was able to cite medical research and statistics. I felt as though Samantha was very knowledgeable in the area of VBAC and although she never persuaded me or pushed me into a decision, she had great resources and facts to help me make informed decisions. Besides her medical knowledge and great support, Samantha also had great insights into the emotional obstacles birth and particularly VBAC births can create. Samantha understood the psychological needs I had before I was even aware of them and helped me prepare emotionally for the potential outcomes I faced. Samantha is a warm and inviting person--I instantly felt comfortable with her. The true testament to Samantha's expertise and help is that I feel extremely satisfied with the decisions I made and the outcome of my pregnancy and have no regrets about how my son was born. Although I needed to have a C-section when I did not go into labor past my due date, Samantha's check-ins and the options and suggestions she could offer resulted in me having no regrets for my pregnancy. I am certain that if I did not have Samantha as a doula, I would not feel this way about my son's birth, and for that I am deeply grateful.

My husband and I took a 6 week birthing class but felt like we still needed someone to walk through the birth of our first child with us. We looked for a doula on doula match and are so thankful we found Samantha. After reading her profile we decided to interview her to see if she was a good fit for us. We were instantly put at ease and were impressed by Samantha’s professionalism and genuine care for us.
After hiring her we met again and she got to know us and our wishes for our birth. She asked a lot of questions that helped us write a good birth plan. She showed a lot of knowledge and gave us more info on things we may face while in labor. She also texted me several times before the birth to check on how I was feeling and how doctor appointments were going.
During labor she was so helpful and necessary for me to get through it. She helped me breath thru contractions. She put counter pressure on my lower back during contractions. Toward the end of labor when I really wanted to push but wasn’t fully dilated she helped me focus and breath and wait out the urge until the contraction passed. She was great support and so encouraging when I needed it most. She also helped me stick to my birth plan. She reminded me of what we had discussed but gave me the option to adjust if I wanted too.
My biggest concern was how my husband would fit into the picture too. I found I needed him there just as much as Samantha. It felt like she took the pressure off of him to be the sole support person so that he could be in the moment too and help in a way that was best for him.
We are both so glad we had Samantha at the birth of our Isaiah. I wouldn’t have a child without her.

We chose Samantha to be present at the birth of our first child for many reasons: she is incredibly down-to-earth, funny, a fabulous listener, and she involved my husband as an equal partner in the planning of an unmedicated birth. She was very accessible throughout the prenatal period and had EXCELLENT and well-timed advice for those times when I was losing confidence in myself. She has a vast amount of knowledge and presents it in an unbiased way so that you can make the best decision for you and your baby. Despite a rapid progression of labor, Samantha kept us calm like a seasoned veteran. Do not be fooled by the fact she has had fewer births under her belt-- Samantha is well-trained and a natural at her job. I did not believe that it was possible to achieve an unmedicated birth prior to selecting Samantha as my doula- and I'm thrilled to report that with her help we were able to have the beautiful experience we dreamed of. After the birth, she stopped by to check in and present us with a CD of beautiful, intimate photos she captured during the birth. I would highly recommend Samantha to anyone considering hiring support for any type of birth, not just an unmedicated one. Knowledge truly is power, and Samantha helps you and your partner to achieve both! Thank you Samantha!!!!!!!!!

When I went in to labor with my daughter, the doula who was supposed to attend our birth had a prior commitment and was unable to be present with us at the hospital. Samantha graciously stepped in to care for us, not knowing anything about us prior to arriving at the hospital. However, she stepped right into the role as our doula and did a fabulous job! She was personable from the very beginning, and served both my husband and me with such gentleness and patience. Samantha encouraged me as I walked the halls, spending time getting to know me a little better and asking for my permission to support me throughout my labor. As I entered active labor, I felt instant relief as she rubbed my feet, helped me reposition, and explained some of the medical questions being asked and suggestions being made. My husband and I had committed to an unmedicated birth if possible, and we give Samantha credit for helping us accomplish this. Although she had only known us since early that morning, she was well aware of our preferences and had thoroughly read and respected our birth plan. Once our sweet daughter was born, Samantha skillfully assited me with nursing and attentively cared for my new family to make sure our needs and desires were being met.

I would absolutely recommend Samantha to any couple seeking someone who is caring, gentle, patient, supportive and knowledgable to walk them through their birth experience. She will be a gift to you.

Samantha was a huge asset during my recent pregnancy and birth. I knew her socially before choosing to ask her to be present at the birth, and I'm so glad I did! I knew she would be a wonderful emotional support and especially great with enabling my husband to be free to focus on supporting me by taking care of all the little details. She was consistently available whenever I needed, had a perfect amount of support for my husband and direction for other guests at the birth, and helped in all the ways I needed! After the birth, she kept in contact and was there for anything if we needed it. She is a lovely person and a great doula!
