My husband and I knew pretty much from the beginning the type of birth experience we wanted. We also knew there was a chance he could miss the birth due to his job and started looking for a doula so that my natural birth preferences would be advocated for whether my husband could be there or not. We interviewed two doulas. We left very uneasy after meeting the first in person but after meeting Amy, we both got in the car knowing she was perfect! Amy is passionate about encouraging and empowering those she works with. She cheered me on and helped me face down all my fears throughout the entire pregnancy and especially at the end when I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and told I would have to be induced. Amy talked me through coping strategies but also refused to give up on my desire for natural birth start to finish and researched all my options. Went into spontaneous labor two days before the scheduled induction and Any was there on the phone and through text as she readied to meet us. Ended up going to hospital earlier than planned and she rolled with it and met us there rather than at the house. She and my husband then pretty much took over and began advocating for my birth preferences and against the staff already talking interventions. Because of their teamwork, I was able to just focus on my breathing and labbor, knowing that they had my back and best interests in mind. It was a beautiful experience even though I was confined to labor in bed and be continuously monitored. Baby decided to be born sunny side up requiring 4 hours of pushing. Amy was there to offer water/gatorade without me ever asking and worked with my husband on holding my legs through the last two pushing positions I tried. Once our little guy finally made it out, Amy was there to cut the cord and help me start breastfeeding. I struggled a bit but she found me help asap. Even after she left the hospital Any continued to check in and support me. We are forever grateful.

Amy was an excellent choice for a doula for us. She was extremely supportive, especially in my LONG (36 hr) labor. We didn't end up going 100% natural (after 24 hours after my water broke, pitocin was required) but she was extremely supportive of all of our decisions. She gave my husband a lot of relief so he got rest in our marathon and food even. We had a wonderful vaginal delivery and I'm so glad that Amy was there to both share in that but help us get to that point.
