Monique was an excellent choice for our Doula! Her many years of experience coupled with her extensive evidence-based knowledge and passion for birth helped to make our pregnancy and post-partum journey very relaxed. We were confident we were always in excellent care. She met with us several times to get to know us and our birth preferences, and provided us with heaps of information through her own knowledge and from books and DVD’s that she lent us to prepare for the birth and baby. She is very active in continuing her education and being up to date with the latest information, and she is one of the few Doulas in the Greater Victoria area certified to do placenta encapsulation. Keeping our placenta was very important to us and Monique took care of everything: providing a cooler and taking it home to encapsulate and tincture. She even made some beautiful and creative artwork with the placenta for us to cherish. Monique was so thoughtful in gifting little things as well, such as metal straws for the hospital so we wouldn’t have to use disposable ones. We would highly recommend Monique to anyone wanting a knowledgeable, experienced, and thoughtful Doula and/or placenta encapsulation specialist who cares about you and your wishes for having the birth experience you desire. She went above and beyond in her care for us. Thank you so much for everything, Monique! We really appreciate it all! Xo

Monique is an amazing doula. She agreed to become my doula wITh less that one weeks notice until my scheduled induction. She has so much knowledge and experience that is so valuable. She made.me feel comfortable and confident and well cared for. She was an advocate for me in the hospital ensuring I was provided with the best possible care. She provided me with supplies and tools for my labour that proved invaluable. She was not only support for myself but even more so as support and guidance for my husband so he could be the best support person possible. I couldn't have had such an amazing labour experience as I did without her as my doula.

We cannot thank Monique enough for helping with the birth of our baby!  The minute she arrived at our house during labour, my husband and I immediately relaxed.  With calm and ease she took over timing my contractions, giving me suggestions on how to breath, and helping me relax.  Monique gave us both the confidence we needed.  The birth took a long time, and Monique was calm, caring and so thoughtful the entire time - wiping my face after I threw up, reminding my husband to eat something or get some rest,  bringing me popsicles or water, helping me into the shower, and helping us get settled at the hospital after our baby was born.  Monique's pre and post birth help was wonderful.  She helped us prioritise and think through our birth wishes, interacted with our midwife and hospital staff to help us have the birth experience we had hoped for, and made sure we were settling in with our new baby once we came home.  Monique has an absolute gift as a doula, and truely cares about her clients.  We have already recommended Monique to our friends!

After the birth of our first child I knew for sure that if we had another I would definetly want a doula.  Monique was the first and only doula we met with.  During our first meeting she listened to our first birth experience and what we hoped for in this next one and I felt like she understood where I was coming from and would be an invaluable support in working with us towards the birth of our child.  After hiring Monique she was in touch right away to start our regular get togethers to discuss our plan and get to know us.  After she left the first get together my husband told me how happy he was that we decided to do this and that we should have gone with our gut and had a doula with our first child.  Monique worked with us on what was truly important in our birth experience and different ways to achieve it.  She prepared a birth plan/chart for us that was a huge help to the nursing team that looked after us.  Although I did not get the VBAC I was hoping for, Monique was very supportive in all of the choices that were made and she really felt like a part of us, not someone we hired to help us.  Her support after the birth of my son went far beyond what I had expected, she made sure we were settled at home and helped me through a breastfeeding challenge that I would have not been able to figure out myself and would surely have ended up in the hospital if it were not for her help.  Both my husband and I were so happy with Monique as our Doula, she far exceeded our expectations and I miss our chats.  I tell everyone I talk to about Monique and how wonderful she was.  My only regret is that I don't have a picture with her and our little babe.  She was such an important part of the birth of our babe and she holds a special spot in our memories of his arrival into this world.

If I used one word to describe Monique it would be 'lifesaver'. I didnt fully understand how valuable a doula would be in me keeping calm and in facilitating the birth experience I hoped for. Monique is extremely knowledgable, has a very calming presence, and clearly understands a mother-to-be and new mother's needs. I highly recommend Monique to any expectant parent(s) that hope to be as prepared as possible for the exciting change that awaits.

I cannot thank you enough, Monique!

Monique had been assisting me with minding my 8 month old little girl for roughly three months now.

I find Monique is consistent with her work ethic, always maintaining a professional and polite demeanour. She is highly knowledgable in her field and continues to offer me supportive and helpful advice.

I feel very fortunate to have been introduced to Monique and am thankful that she will be in my families life while we extend our family further.

Today was my last day working with Monique and it was definitely sad to say goodbye. She took my husband and I on when I was around 30 weeks pregnant and went through numerous classes with us to prepare us for our birth, but also cement what our birth plan was. We had a plan A, a plan B and a plan C. I originally was planning on having a home water birth, but due to complications in my 38the week I was admitted to the hospital to induce labour. As a result of the classes I had had with Monique I knew what my medical and non-medical options were for inducing labour, and the pros and cons of each. In the end I needed to have an emergency C-section and Monique was in the delivery room with me holding my hand throughout the procedure. She checked up on me in the hospital, and had a number of home visits with my husband, myself and baby. She helped with breastfeeding, cloth diapering and even brought me food. I can't imagine going through all of that without the help of a doula. Thank you Monique for all your help.

Monique was the first doula I met with and I knew that I would love to use her during my birth almost immediately. She is very down to earth and has a huge amount of knowledge and information on child birth and babies. As my doula she checked in with me regularly, made sure I had everything I needed and was very supportive. She took my cues and wasn't over bearing or pushy with anything. This was my second baby and I was pretty confident already but I know that had it been my first and I bombarded her with questions she would have answered them quickly and not found it annoying or burdensome.

My labour was quite fast. Monique came to my house at the agreed upon time and by that time my contractions were quite strong. She didn't hesitate and stepped right in. My husband was busy with our toddler so he couldn't really help me. She started keeping track of my contractions and making sure I was drinking and did what she could to make me more comfortable. At the hospital she continued to take my lead and was very responsive to me. It was nice not having to explain what I wanted, she just knew!

After the baby was born Monique stayed with us in the hospital until we came home (we decided to leave right away) and made sure we had everything we needed. Since then she has checked in regularly to see if there was anything she could do to help and made house visits.

My labour was only 4.5 hours but it was intense and it wouldn't have been the same without Monique as my doula. I will look back at my memories of this birth fondly and will always remember the role that she played in it. it has been evident through my whole experience that for Monique this truley is a labour of love and I would definitely use her in the future.

I had a great experience having Monique as my Doula. She was very knowledgable and helpful before the labour and then during the labour she was very attentive and helpful. I learned techniques (cord clamping, Robeez wrapping, birthing ball) and had these options available to me. Even though I was not a first time mom, I never knew about many things. Monique was great after the birth also, coming to my home, weighing my son and offering to take my toddler to the park if I needed a nap. She drove me to my doctors office and overall just went above the call if duty. I would recommend her to anyone. She was great!
