My husband and I had the privilege of meeting Chrysti at one of our Hypnobirthing classes. We hit it off with her right away and invited her to our home for a free consultation to see if she was the right fit for us to serve as our Doula. Chrysti's love and passion for what she does is so obvious from the second you meet her. She has a magical way of making you feel comfortable and confident in any situation. We had a few visits with Chrysti in our home preparing for baby to come. She helped us with our birth plan, baby positioning, practice labor positions, general labor and delivery preparation. She was such a support in helping us achive the experience we desired in bringing our baby girl into this world. I ended up being induced with pitocin because I was so far past my due date. Even with all the intervention I had I still was able to labor and deliver with NO epidural which was my biggest goal. I could not have done this if it were not for Chysti at our side. She was able to help us understand the process of labor and delivery so that at each stage we felt confident. The tools and confidence she gave to my husband allowed him to be my main support system throughout the delivery. She was such an advocate for us when it came to feeling pressure from Dr's and nurses to get the epidural. She was so patience in knowing that the baby and my body knew what to do and that my I had the strength to deliver unmedicated. She was there from baby/birth prep, for labor and delivery and  to make sure we were settled. Also checked in on us after baby was born to ensure good feeding, healing and sleeping. Chrysi was such a key part of our birth story from start to finish and still to this day! She was there for us during the most important time in our lives and only enhanced our experience of becoming parents together. She has such a beautiful heart with so much care and support to give to new mommas. We are so beyond grateful for our experience with Chrysti.

We chose Chrysti as our doula because of her hypnotherapy experience.  I wanted to have as much support as possible in managing my mental/emotional state as I pursued a natural birth through hypnobirthing.  Chrysti came to our home and answered all our questions and told us about her approach.  She seemed very capable of going with the flow and helping me maintain a relaxed state.

I am so happy we worked with Chrysti.  She did some helpful exercises and practice with us in the prenatal meeting.  My labor started just shy of 38 weeks and progressed very quickly.  She came right away and did a lot to help us get to the birhting center.  She kept me relaxed on the car ride, helped me walking in, helped me to the bathroom, etc. etc.  Most important for me, she seemed to intuitively know when I needed someone to talk to me, or move the hair out off of my face, or a drink of water.  She was caring, patient, all around a great advocate.  She even took some nice pictures for us that help us remember the beautiful experience.

Having Chrysti there as both a much needed set of helping hands, and a comforter allowed my husband to be fully present with me.  We were both very happy with our birth experience.  I know I would not have felt nearly as calm, in-control, and cared for without Chrysti's unconditional support!

I didn’t know anything about hypnobirthing and Chrysti lent us materials to check out. Chrysti is very non-judgmental and non-dogmatic. Between our visits, she was in touch regularly, suggesting a few inspiring videos, birth stories, and tips, all of which made me feel optimistic and confident. When labor started, I was calm and followed an idea she had suggested about resting in beginning labor on your own rather than getting overexcited. Chrysti was ready to come over and be with me throughout the labor if I wanted, but in the end the repertoire of affirmations from Chrysti, the supply of coconut water and snacks, the birth ball, and the security of knowing Chrysti was just a call away did the job. I felt like I was still in a tolerable “early labor” almost until the end. By the time we were ready to ask Chrysti to come and touch base with the midwife, the midwife said we needed to go to the hospital (Morristown) quickly. We got in the car, met Chrysti and the midwife at the hospital, got into a room, heard Kim (from Avalon Midwives) say “8 ½ centimeters, good job girl!” and Milo (8 lb. 13 oz.) was born 45 minutes after our arrival (no epidural or anything, not even time to fill the water tub I wanted)! Chrysti made my husband feel confident that we could do this together and took some of the pressure off him. Chrysti had prepared me so thoroughly for a relaxed and comfortable birth that I felt like she had been a big part of making this happen so smoothly. Afterwards, Chrysti stayed in the hospital holding Milo when we wanted and sharing snacks, tips, and her peaceful presence until we were all ready to rest. In the weeks afterward, Chrysti did everything from cuddle Milo to hang laundry to make Thai dinner to give advice about whom to call about my mastitis. Without her advice, I would have put it off and my mastitis would have been much worse. Overall, we credit Chrysti with making our birth and postpartum time great!

Chrysti was a wonderful part of birthing our little boy, born on 24 July. She helped us get settled in at the hospital and did a wonderful job calming me. As I was breathing, she massaged my back and held my hands through 2 sleepless nights. I ended up having a c-section but through it all, she reassured me that everything was going to be fine. She even visited us at home bearing gifts. We were lucky to have her!
