Rachel is a mom, doula and educator, qualities that help make her one of those amazing people who *really* understands kids and families. She has the most amazing patience, especially with my Highly Sensitive daughter; is passionate about helping and teaching others; is non-judgmental; can help prioritize and problem solve at the drop of a hat; and brings a quiet yet strong sense of calm and expertise to almost any situation. Any child or parent who is lucky enough to work with Rachel will quickly realize the gifts she brings to their lives.

Rachel was awesome. We've worked with her for about 3 months until end of August 2017. My second baby was a late preemie, very colicky, potentially dairy intolerant and would cry for hours and hours. It was exhausting and we were not quite ready for it since my first baby was nothing like that.

Rachel helped us take care of the baby while I would get some rest/run errands/get things done. She did a lot of research for each of the issues we struggled with - colic, sleep, feeding, health issues etc. Sometimes she would hold the baby for hours.

She has a very kind and gentle personality and would give us suggestions/advice in a non obtrusive manner. It's been a privilege working with her.

When my children were just over six months and three years old, a friend recognized that I was overwhelmed with the demands of raising two children largely on my own (with no family nearby and a spouse that worked long hours). She had hired Rachel to help as a postpartum doula and suggested that I do the same. Shortly after meeting Rachel, I knew that she was someone that I could invite into my home and ask to help with both household and childcare needs; I personally felt comfortable with her and I also recognized that she would be a positive influence on both me and my children, with her warmth and calm demeanor. Rachel worked for our family regularly for about 4 months, primarily helping with childcare and household duties, but also served as a companion and friend that I could ask questions of and vent to. Her flexible schedule allowed her to be with us when I most needed, staying with my sleeping younger child while I picked the older one up from preschool and remaining through the dinner and bedtime hour. She cooked dinner for the family several times a week, working with me to find recipes that would meet the needs of everyone in the family. And, she would readily clean up the kitchen afterwards (and even sometimes beforehand if I hadn't had a chance to do so earlier in the day). Additionally, there were times that I would return home to find that she had folded the laundry, picked up toys, or organized the bookshelves even without being asked. Rachel stepped in wherever was needed, allowing me to focus on whatever I needed to, whether it was the house, the kids, or myself. I have recommended Rachel to other friends of mine as a postpartum doula, and I wouldn't hesitate to do so again!
