I cannot say enough about how wonderful it was to work with Morgan! She was an essential part of our birthing experience, and it would have been a much more stressful experience without her. From the beginning, our meetings with Morgan and Dana (her doula partner) were super helpful and informative. They both worked to understand what our goals were for the birth, and offered suggestions to help us get there. The lighting tips were awesome, and my hospital room had a very relaxed vibe after we hung lights and scripture everywhere. My labor had some unexpected difficulties, and Morgan’s calm energy and words of affirmation helped my husband and I to get through the most painful parts. Her position recommendations for me and general tips for my husband were great, and she helped him to have a more active role in the whole labor process (we would literally hug during every contraction in early labor, it was very sweet!). After the birth both Morgan and Dana were available to help with all of my random questions, and just knowing they were a text away was very comforting. Labor and delivery can be scary, and it was a huge blessing to have someone calm and experienced to help me to focus on the beauty in birth. Morgan will definitely be a perfect of any future deliveries we have :).
I don’t know where to begin with Morgan. We met through our birth center, our sons being 6 months apart and instantly became friends. Even then, without knowing her well, she had a calm/go with the flow attitude.
Fast forward to being pregnant with my daughter. I had a doula with my son and was less than satisfied with her. She just didn’t fit my “idea” of a doula. I wanted to have a connection with her, feel she was with me at every step. My husband ended up being deployed shortly after we found out we were pregnant with Amelia. Morgan was my go to girl when I was having my freak out moments during pregnancy. Moments I thought were silly to share with my husband, who was halfway across the world and had other things to worry about. Even the night he got back, I ended up having Braxton Hicks BAD. I was freaking out, this man was almost a stranger to me after 6 months gone, but Morgan was there every step of the way.
Labor ended up being a quick and easy 5 hours. Morgan was with me every moment, via phone, until we met up at birth center. I was “in the zone” doing well on my own. But she was always there without even saying a word. Her presence is so calming and I think fits any situation you end up being it. Every now and then I’d hear her encouragements or agreeing with my affirmations. It’s the connection I wanted/needed during labor.
I honestly cannot say enough good things about her. We’re still friends to this day, plus she was one of the first to hold Amelia. I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
From the moment we met, Morgan has been patient, kind, and supportive. For me a scatterbrained pregnant mom with an almost 2 year old, she was most excellent at "holding space". By "holding space," she gave me a quiet place to think about my upcoming birth and to ask me questions so that I would treat myself kindly. My first birth was pretty traumatic so I took a lot of precautions this time and Morgan supported them all. She understood very quickly what I wanted and created a space for that.
When I started to go into labor she let me lead the conversation. Even as a second time mom I didn't know when it was "time" and we all made the journey out to the birth center. She was patient and supportive when the midwife said we weren't ready. When it was time, Morgan graciously came to my house to help me labor, time contractions, and provide pain management ideas (like counter pressure to my back and a hot pad). when we got to the birth center, she supported me by calm words of encouragement and just being in my sight line. She provided suggestions when asked and respected me the whole time. Even when things changed, she held my hand and supported me in a way only your best friend/sister would.
I highly recommend Morgan to any women seeking to create a safe place to bring your baby into. She whole heartedly cares for moms and seeks to support on an individual basis. She is a treasure as a doula and I am so grateful she was there.
Where to begin with this beautiful person?! From the moment I found out I was pregnant Morgan was a source of constant encouragement, wisdom, great advice, and enthusiasm for our upcoming babe. She helped me research all of our options for our birth so we felt empowered to make decisions for our son, all while helping me to maintain a positive outlook on however our birth turned out; whether it went according to plan, or otherwise. We had many conversations about our preferences and goals for our birth, all of which were honored by her. When I went into labor, Morgan gave my husband and me space to labor together, but gave us suggestions of what positions we could use. In early labor, she even suggested playing "Simon says" and had me squatting, dancing, jogging in circles, and laughing through contractions. Who gets to say they had FUN during labor?! We do! She provided different comfort measures such as lavender essential oil diffusing, cool washcloths for my neck, a warm rice sock for my belly, twinkly Christmas lights to make the room cozy, and tea light candles to place around the tub. Our labor ended up being very long (from the time my water broke to when he was born was about 40 hours) and we ended up transferring from a birth center to a hospital. She was there every step of the way, from start to finish, through the sweet parts of labor to the challenging, when I was pushed to my limits. She was right there, providing hope, focus, determination, peace, calmness, and confidence. She was also a wonderful support for my husband and kept him happy and calm when things were tough. She was constant and supportive, an absolute treasure to me at our birth. Her wisdom and education are extraordinary; she is truly committed to providing excellent service to her clients. She honors the sacredness of a new person entering the world; she values family. It was the best decision to hire Morgan, and she will be invited to our future births as well!
