I'm so glad that I had Mary to help me throughout my pregnancy. After a traumatic first birth with multiple interventions, I felt strongly that I wanted to employ a doula in the hopes of having a natural birth and avoiding drugs and interventions. Mary provided many resources and was always available throughout my entire pregnancy when I had questions or concerns. She really enjoys what she does and makes the experience so fun and relaxing. With her help, I gave birth to a little girl completely naturally, with just Mary's hands as pain relief! I highly recommend her doula services! Also, she encapsulated my placenta at my home after the birth and allowed my mom and daughter to share in the experience...it was very special!
I highly recommend Mary Ramos for any woman who wishes to have an empowering and positive birth experience. I was able to have the medication-free, natural birth that I wanted and I feel very confident that that would not have been possible without having Mary as my Doula. Mary is the perfect blend of reassuring and practical. While she definitely is nurturing and supportive, she also is highly competent and knowledgeable. She was also non-judgmental in her feedback, never really pushing me to do anything I didn’t want to do but rather holding up a mirror so I could reflect on what was important to me as an expectant mother.
Mary was always quick to respond to my text messages and thorough in her research on any questions I had that she could not answer. She also was generous in providing me with several birthing preparation props during my pregnancy as well as during the labor. And when my midwife threw a curveball towards the end of my pregnancy by suggesting I go see a specialist for high-risk pregnancies even though I have been considered low-risk the whole pregnancy, Mary was there as a sounding board for me as I decided how I should proceed with the medical advice I was receiving.
She also helped to empower my husband to support me throughout the labor as well. Rather than replacing my partner, she and him worked in tandem to provide me with the most calming and supportive birthing environment. And even after I gave birth to our son, Mary followed up with me several times to see how we were doing.
After hearing stories from others about their doulas, I know that it’s not a given that you will receive the same level of care that Mary provides. She is so attentive and so helpful and reassuring and I am so grateful that when I look back on my birthing experience, I am filled with pride and joy and gratitude - so much so that Mary will be one of the first people that we call when we find out we are pregnant again!
About 6 months into my wife carrying our son we both started to get worried and nervous about that big day when he would arrive. This was our first child and we really had no idea what to expect. My sister suggested we look into getting a doula. My wife and I did some research and we came across Mary and her services. Mary coming into our lives was truly a gift from God. She instantly brought wisdom and comfort. If we had questions, she typically had the answers, and if she didn't have an answer right away she would find out for us and actually follow through and get back to us with the answer, a quality very difficult to find in someone nowadays. Our OB doctor was actually against us having a doula due to the fact that they "typically push the dad out of the way and take over." This was NOT the case with Mary. Mary let my wife and I make all the final decisions and she did not by any means push me out of the way and take over when that big day finally came. Believe it or not, THE OB SAID SHE WAS GREAT TOO!!!! She was always ready and available when we needed her and she made the labor 100% better then it would have been with just me. She has tricks and ideas to help keep your mind off the pain and longevity of the labor. She kept my wife calm and relaxed in the hardest of times when I was running out of ideas. She is passionate about her job and is always willing to go the extra mile to help. On 1/17/19 my wife and I welcomed our son Elijah into this world and it could not have gone any better and it was all thanks to Mary. It isnt cheap by any means to hire any doula, and my wife and I aren't exactly rolling in cash either, but Mary is worth every single penny you spend for her services.
My husband and I had just moved to Florida and left our families behind at another state. As my due date was approaching we realized we didn’t know what we were doing (first time parents) and knew we needed extra support along the way. At first we wanted an expert by our side to voice my concerns and opinions during labor and delivery... however, hiring Mary turned out to be much more than that.
Mary was present few occasions before my due date providing information and expert support. She also made herself completely available during beginning stages of labor all the way until after birth. She was our emotional support, our voice in distress, and our birth guidance. Mary walked me through labor, counted minutes, provided evidence based information, helped me through my birth plan, provided hands on assistance during contractions, was 100% beyond supportive and the list goes on. (Not to mention supporting my husband too !)
Thanks to Mary the entire experience was just incredible. I would say my delivery would not have been the same if Mary was not there. She holds a special place in my baby’s life. My husband and I are beyond thankful of Mary’s services and would hire her again in the future.
Mary is an amazing doula! She was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and encouraging throughout my 2 pregnancies. Her support allowed me to have 2 natural hospital deliveries and an extra pair of hands to help comfort me through contractions. My husband and I both agree that she was an invaluable part of our birth team. Her coaching and encouragement really got me through labor pains. I would highly recommend her professional services to anyone who is pregnant, whether you want a natural delivery or not. She was readily available to call or text when I needed anything!
Mary is amazing!! I had a very different birth experience as my labor was all over the place. Even my midwife said I should stay home until my contractions were not changing when I moved around. Little did all of us know, my baby was coming and fast! Mary was our source of calm during this experience! We ended up having our baby at home unexpectedly and she made the entire process much less frightening!
My baby was born healthy and perfect and Mary videoed all of the fun stuff like cutting the cord on my bathroom floor with EMTs! What happened with me was not in her job description but she handled it as if she had done this many times before. I honestly do not know WHAT we would have done if she was not there. She proved that she could deal with unexpected complications without panicing which is so necessary in childbirth. It almost never goes the way you planned it!
This was my third child but the first time I was doing it without any medication and she made me feel at ease and comfortable that I could do this...and I did. Never again will I use medication!
I feel like this experience has made her family and if we decide to have a fourth child, we will most definitely hire her again. But this time we'll head to the hospital a lot sooner!
I can't say enough wonderful things about Mary. My husband and I were planning to hire her, but we didn't get a chance to formalize arrangements before I unexpectedly went into labor three weeks early. When my water broke at 4 a.m., we panicked. My husband called Mary very early that morning to see if she could still support us in some capacity. Not only was Mary eager to help, she rushed to the hospital and guided us through our labor from start to finish as if it had been planned that way all along. Her knowledge, professionalism and care is exceptional, and it's obvious she cares deeply about her clients. I'm so glad she was able to advocate on my behalf and to help us welcome our beautiful daughter into the world. Our birth experience was wonderful thanks to Mary - she is like family!
I don't know where to begin with my experience with Mary... I will start with saying that I could not have done it without her! This was my third (and most likely final) birth and I wanted it to be completely natural and unmedicated. The first thing I did was look for a doula. When I read her reviews, I instantly cried and knew she was the one I needed by my side. Throughout my entire pregnancy, she was there with support with anything I needed. When labor began I had terrible back labor and I know in my heart that if I didn't have Mary, my natural birth would've never happened. She knew exactly how to help with the pain and without her breathing through each contraction with me, I wouldn't have made it. Her sweet and nurturing demeanor made me feel like I could do anything. It was the most excruciating and the most beautiful experience I've ever had. If I ever have another baby, I wouldn't do it without Mary!
Mary Ramos is amazing. She was extremely informative and supportive throughout my pregnancy with my first child as I prepared for an all-natural birth. She referred me to many helpful evidence-based articles as I shaped my ideal birth vision. She guided me in making educated decisions during my labour process in the hospital while I was being intensely pressured for interventions. She was an angel for my husband and I when labour ended up taking much longer than I had hoped for. She gave us the strength, energy, and support we both needed to accomplish my drive for an all-natural birth. I am so thankful for her presence bringing our beautiful baby girl into the world. If I am ever so lucky to be blessed with another child, I can only hope that Mary can be there!
I absolutely loved my experience with Mary! She was an invaluable part of my labor experience and I would definitely recommend her to anyone in search of a doula. She was so encouraging, helpful, calming, supportive and knew just how to help me achieve my goal of a natural birth. She was readily available when I needed her, provided many articles when I had questions and was so personable and friendly. I felt so at ease with her from the start. I could never have had my son without her by my side. I will no doubt be calling her when I get pregnant again. Her calming and encouraging demeanor really helped me breathe and relax as much as possible through contractions. Mary is extremely competent and you can tell she loves and is passionate about helping and educating parents through this birth process. She also was such a help after in assisting breastfeeding too. My husband even said he was extremely grateful Mary was with us (he was skeptical at first) and raves about her to other couples we know who are pregnant! She is amazing and I am excited for all the other women who will experience her services. :)
I really appreciated having Mary Ramos as my doula for the birth of my son in June 2014. She was very knowledgeable and provided us with good information and advice in our meetings prior to his birth. At the hospital her disposition helped to put me at ease. I really felt that she was a respsectful advocate for me throughout my time there. My birth experience didn't go as I had planned due to having a different Dr than expected and needing to be induced, but Mary helped us navigate this new situation. She was respectful and supportive when I changed my pain-management plan. We are very thankful for Mary!
My doula experience was wonderful! Having doula Mary Ramos with us for the birth of my third baby girl made such a huge difference in my birth experience. Mary was kind, loving, encouraging, and supportive through the entire process. Even though this was my third delivery, I felt I needed extra encouragement and support. I was planning to try to have a non medicated delivery and I wanted to prepare the besy way possible. Having Mary as my doula helped immensely!
Leading up to the birth, I had several meetings with Mary. She provided alot of helpful information and helped ease any concerns that I had at the time. Mary was easy and sweet to talk to, and was very eager to know and understand what my needs were so she could provide the best care. She was always accessible by phone or email which reassured me as my delivery drew close.
When it came time to having our baby girl, Mary was with us right from the very beginning. Once we arrived at the hospital, she was attentive to my every need. She had ideas for relaxation that I had never ever thought of. She helped me through my labor using comforting words, touch, massage. She encouraged me to try various positions which also were very helpful. When it came time to have my baby, it was Mary who detected the signs that I was ready and she immediately called the nurse. In a matter of minutes, the doctor was called in and my baby arrived! Thanks to her being there by my side at all times, she was able to spot the signs that my baby was crowning and get the immediate help that I needed. I was so thankful that she was there by my side.
Would I use Mary again as a doula? The answer is absolutely, positively yes!
Mary is AMAZING. She is so down to earth and nice. We enjoyed our pre-labor meetings, where she provided us with resources to help write our birth plan, showed us birthing balls we could use, explained the use of counter pressure for contractions, and looked over different birthing positions. During my 25 hour labor, Mary never left our side. She supported my husband and was an absolute blessing to have on our birthing team. She provided us with alternative methods to counter pain so I could manage the contractions without pain medications. My husband and I both agree that we wouldn't have another baby without her. Thank you Mary!
