Grateful Mom

Jessup had been referred to us by a close friend during the birth of our second child. My husband and I don't have enough words to state how helpful he was thru the delivery process!

I'm sure that without Jessup I would not have been able to have a natural birth like I wanted. There couldn't have been anyone better than Jessup to have on our birth team. With his ready wit and kindness he won over the nurses/doctors at Overlake hospital, in what can feel like a cold hospital environment. He is 200% focused on getting the best outcome for his client and has deep knowledge around any issue related to maternity. My husband and I will always value the solid support and care Jessup provided in the birthing process. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, caring and very very effective doula.

Jessup was invaluable. He was so helpful to both me and my husband as we navigated a whirlwind labor. Jessup was always positive, prepared, helpful, and available. The pre-birth and post-partum visits were also helpful as he helped prepare us and answer questions. We highly recommend.

Jessup helped my husband and I prepare for, and deliver, our baby boy, born March 5, 2017. This was our first baby, and we had no idea what to expect! We chose Jessup because we felt that having a male doula would be a great support system for my husband. That way, my husband could get the support he needed through the whole birth experience, and therefore give me support. Jessup provided that support, and gave my husband fantastic father-focused recommendations on how to prepare for this new life role of "Daddy!"

Jessup is extremely knowledgeable, respectful, and diligent in following up with tips. When it came time to push, I was so grateful to have Jessup there. Even though my husband and I took many childbirth prep classes, I needed Jessup's minute-by-minute coaching throughout the whole process. He was able to show my husband how to help me, and breathed with me every step of the way. The doctors and nurses were so focused on making sure my baby and I stayed healthy, they didn't always have a free minute to explain what was going on, or to remind me to breathe. Jessup was there to do that.

My parents were in the room when I gave birth, and they were just amazed at how wonderful Jessup was, and were just as grateful that he was there. I think he provided an overall reassuring atmosphere to help us all feel good about what was happening. 6 months later, my Mom still talks about how great Jessup was!

My husband and I agreed that hiring Jessup was the best thing we could have done for our birth, and we would do it again. We absolutely 100% recommend Jessup. Thank you, Jessup!

We had heard of the doula's at the beginning of our pregnancy, and didn't think about it too much at first. When we took the birth tour, we heard about them again, and one of the other expecting couples were pleased with their doula. So my husband thought that it would be a good thing for us, especially since our first birth was chaotic and stressful. When we met Jessup with our interview, we knew instantly that he was perfect for us. His warmth and humor were genuine. When we had our first in home meeting, we learned more about him and he meshed with our family perfectly. He's a wonderful man and was there for us with the first false alarms and then when we were induced a week and a half later he was there with us, a reassuring, funny and comforting presence. When the labor became active he kept us so calm and focused, encouraging and helping me throughout it, even when I thought I couldn't do it anymore. When we came to the final part and started to push, he was there an encouraging presence, never leaving my side. I credit him with a wonderful birth.

Jessup is an amazing doula. From the moment my husband and I met him, we made a connection that went beyond us just having a baby. He worked with our schedule for meeting up and was in communication with us whenever we needed. Each pre-partum visit was helpful and informative, from the first meet and greet to the final with last minute questions. His “doula bag” was full of props and supplies that were related to the birth and were very helpful in understanding and preparing for possibilities during the big event. He reviewed our birth plan many times and made sure that we were all on the same page as to how we wanted information conveyed to us. When the time came, we were able to get ahold of Jessup right away to discuss what was happening and a course of action. He met us in the birthing room bearing snacks, coffee and a positive attitude, all of which kept us heartened as labor progressed. Even during the intense contractions, his calm demeanor did not waver. His suggestions of different laboring positions were timely, helpful and very well delivered. After the birth, Jessup was quite informative regarding breastfeeding and assisted us with a feeding to give us hands-on tips. He was also available to help via text or calls whenever new parent questions arose. We really appreciate everything Jessup did for us and would definitely recommend him as a member of your birth experience.

Jessup served as my doula for the delivery of my daughter in November 2015. Our family was living in Tanzania for 4 years and we came back to Seattle to have my 3rd child. Because we were living overseas, the time we had to develop relationships in Seattle was quite limited. Luckily, Jessup and I were able to connect and he was more than happy to be part of our birth experience in such a short amount of time.

Prior to our hospital labor and delivery, Jessup was very responsive to all our needs. We set up an initial meeting to talk about our needs, expectations, resources, process, etc. Jessup was a wonderful listener and he made sure to follow up with us on any outstanding areas that we didn't fully address. Not only was he very flexible in meeting and talking with us at our convenience, but he had great resources (ie. insurance, medication, hospital routes, etc.) and was very well informed of other aspects outside of just the labor and delivery process. My husband and I felt very comfortable with Jessup and knew we would be in good hands at the time of delivery.

I went into labor at 5am and Jessup was at the hospital within 30 minutes of our call to him. He was well prepared with various equipment that would help me through labor. He also made sure my husband was involved and helped guide him in helping me with the many comfort postures and breathing routine. He was good at giving me and my husband space when needed/requested and then intervening in anticipating my needs. After the delivery, Jessup made himself available to help us check out of the hospital, if we needed. He also offered his follow-up services with breastfeeding or any postpartum questions we may have had.

Over-all, we were very grateful for Jessup's service and experience as a doula. His positive attitude and demeanor, along with his knowledge and experience served as a wonderful combination and balance for what we were looking for in a doula.
