Amber became our birth doula- she was our doula’s backup and of course our little girl decided to come when our doula was unavailable. We didn’t have a chance to get to know Amber before our birth, but that didn’t matter at all! She was AMAZING! Amber supported us and encouraged us in our birth wishes. Having a natural birth was a huge goal of mine-I wanted to feel as much “myself” as soon as possible after the birth of our daughter after feeling terrible for 9 months. Words cannot express how much it meant to me for Amber to make that goal a reality. Without the support of a doula like Amber we could not have done it. She knew exactly how to help me cope, how to support me, and encourage me through my fast, intense labor. My husband and I both feel strongly that every family needs a doula! The experience, wisdom and support of a doula made the birth of our daughter a truly amazing and fulfilling experience. After struggling through a long, hard pregnancy journey, a beautiful natural birth brought us so much joy and happiness. We could not have done it without our doulas Danielle & Amber. We will always be forever grateful to Amber.
Amber was amazing before, during and after the birth of my 10 pound surro baby boy. she was a calming presence in the room and was there for whatever I needed her to do. I never felt like I was inconveniencing her like I would have with my family. She had great techniques for lower back massage, and supported my decisions. She worked well with the nurses to find good positions to speed up my long labor after my epidural.
She was great at explaining things to the father and my family. The photos that she took during the labor process were beautiful and I'm grateful to have them.
Amber Zrust was an incredible doula for me during my pregnancy, birth, and post partum time through phone support.
During my pregnancy, I reached out to her for advice and queactions several times a week (ranging from general support to questions about what kind of birth experience I may want to have). She always provided me with resources and unbiased information on the questions I had, never judging the decisions I ended up making in the end (i.e., Epidural). I knew she genuinely cared about my wellbeing and was excited for my impending birth.
During my birth, I was in constant contact with Amber via text, which was my preferred method of contact, and she gave me the support I needed to get through the birth process with minimal pain and while feeling in control of my own experience. I would tell her what I was experiencing, and she would suggest things for me to do to improve my experience (like walking or bouncing on a birthing ball). She also would demonstrate positions I could move into, to make my body feel better, via picture. I felt empowered and informed on the decisions I was making during my birth, and with her felt the courage to stand up for those decisions to the nurses who sometimes were suggesting things I didn't want to do (like laboring only in bed). She also kept me informed of the different options i would be encountering at different stages of my birth, and the benefits or potential consequences of those choices, so that I was fully aware of what was happening during my birth.
During post partum, Amber has continued to be there for support. Especially in regard to breastfeeding, which has been incredibly beneficial.
It is clear Amber has a passion for being a doula and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone. She is open minded and well informed. I always felt comfortable with her, and anyone would be benefited by having her in the room or with them via distance.
